Birds LOVE showering from time to time. Our cockatiels (or rather, the smart one) even asks us to do it sometimes. He lands near the sink (where we fill the spray bottle) and whistles and gestures towards the faucet.

My Cag is 7 months old and LOVES the water, Currently he takes his baths in the kitchen sink but there really isn't enough room for him to stretch his wings, I use very cool water on him The shower is going to be the next ste!.I hope he does as well as your baby did!!! Just FYI--Please allow your birds to dry naturally and NEVER put a blow dryer on them, it dries the natural oils they need for healthy skin and feathers.they shake after bath due to natural drying process and not because of cold.

@ludazie our bird takes showers with me about twice a week. She likes warm water better than cold and when I am done I ask her if she wants her bathrobe and she shakes her head yes. I wrap her up in a hand towel and we sit on the bed with her wrapped up, and laying against my chest. Some days she sits like that for a minute & others she will stayed wrapped up for an hour. You just have to find out what your bird likes. None of our birds like the hairdryer...

@sue345sue It was a close call, because he's slender and the red tail feathers look more subdued in this video. I'll have to observe the beak coloration on Greys and see how it correlates to subspecies. Anyway, beautiful bird.

Showering does not kill parrots. Funky is correct, greys produce a powder that aids with grooming, and needs to be washed off on a regular basis. It is obvious the owner is being very gentle and loving when showering her bird, so no harm done at all.

Huh? They're supposed to be showered regularly. They're dusty birds and the dust builds up and causes irritation.

Breeders recommend showering/spraying of birds. Parrot rescues do it on a daily basis.

I don´t have a parrot but from what I´ve seen on Youtube some parrots like to bathe in water bowls, some like showers and some like to be sprayed with flower sprayers. Perhaps you would like to watch Charlie douchen by lievedisney. Maybe your parrot could watch, too - I don´t know if they understand films very well but it really looks like Charlie has fun and it might be worth a try.

I always took my African Grey Parrot, Pepper, into the shower with me. She loved it. I had the wall-mount perch for her. She also liked it when I would block the drain, and let a few inches of water accumulate. She would roll on her back and shriek with laughter! An African Grey is a "powder bird" and they love water to help them keep clean.

do it when your house isn't cold. birds do get wet in the wild, and a shower won't kill them. just keep the a/c off for a few hours and do it in the morning.

it varies a lot...i mean ive seen greys online for $3K in NY where i live..sometimes 2K..it completely varies by the age of parrot...the breeder..whether its already weened/hand fed..anyway its very complicated but usually over 1K..hope that helps

Birds are really sensitive to tempurature. Make sure s/he is warm especially after showers. Also that there are no drafts in the room.
