Instead of super glue, have you tried epoxy? The gunsmith supply houses (eg. Brownells or MidwayUSA) sell bedding & stock repair kits in either thin, runny or thick types. The advantages are not only strength, but also the colors included with the kit that can be mixed to match the color of the wood.

Thanks for watching my videos and for the comments. There are several lathes to consider, I'd suggest looking at Jet or Delta for starters.
