Thanks for all the input. Whatever the names, it's truly awe-some, awe inspiring!When I saw it several years ago in New Mexico, the clouds were partially covering the 'second sun'. So the clouds seemed to glow from within from a mysterious source. I could see the real sun, - but there next to it were clouds glowing from something else. There were also what seemed to be segments of rainbows scattered about - not in a complete arc like I'd seen before. A really special experience.

I have seen a phenomenon kind of like that about 10 or 12 years ago.

A Rain-Bow is supposed to go along with the earth roundness. I dont know how put that correctly. I went around our house, wanting to do my little "business" and I called for my grand-ma. The rainbow was upside-down. And that was not fake or an optical illusion. We didnt have any good quality cameras back then. But it was there.

No..the camera is fine. Its a simple optical illusion brought on by the reflection from the water vapor in the clouds on the left. The clouds act like a mirror reflecting light back. I was lucky enough to have my camera coming back from a soccer game.

Its the first an only one I've ever seen.
