They split among other things, because Agnetha had young children (by Björn) and wanted to be home to raise them rather than leave them to nannies and spend her life touring the world.

To say the Mamma Mia cast, cinema or theater, performed these songs better than Abba is the most rediculous thing one could ever say about these songs. However, they did an excellent job, Streep, Seyfreid and Baranski in particular were outstanding.
