Have the guy in the GT-R take off his training wheels (launch control) and try again. The GTR is a great car, but it drives you--the viper is more of a drivers car and faster around track and in a straight line if you can reach the level of driving mastery that the GTR's computer gives you.

@stevedhenning A Hennessey 700R Viper with 725 horsepower does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and they have the best performance Vipers out there. Another 25 horsepower, especially that is supercharged, isn't going to take .3 seconds off the time and match the 2.9 of the GT-R.

How can the Viper driver be a bad driver once he gets past the start? It isn't the drivers fault, driving skill in a straight line is all about the start and both the cars did exactly what they should of done. The driver can't be blamed for his Viper not pulling in the GT-R as expected.

So I would say with a different, more experience driver, or maybe more practice that Viper probably would've ended up on top. I'm not saying it's not possible the Viper is slower either. I would just say the driver would effect the outcome more than the car.

Have the guy in the GT-R take off his training wheels (launch control) and try again. The GTR is a great car, but it drives you--the viper is more of a drivers car and faster around track and in a straight line if you can reach the level of driving mastery that the GTR's computer gives you.

come on bitches, why are you barking about how the viper was about to win, It's a super sports car with 200 more horse power, it's a 10 cylinder car with forced fuel injection, against a 6 cylinder twin turbo.. American Cars need big engines to feel manly and powerful, just to compete against the 6 cylinder imports.. without v8 engines or more, American cars are nothing!

@Juzh123 ACTUALY.... Thoes tires that the viper used are offered by dodge as an option when purchasing the Viper ACR... also... they are D.O.T approved. meaning, street legal.
and if you watch the video of the 2011 GTR doing the lap, semi-wet? most of the track was dry, and the sections that were "Semi-wet" were usualy out of the apex.
yeah, it probably did affect its lap time, but not nearly enough to pickup 12+ seconds

@bolla999999999 1st off there not slicks, there d.o.t aproved so the need to be treded. and there an optional part. never the less... even if it had similar tires. it wouldnt beat the viper... and heres why... in the hands of a pro driver as tested the viper drives flawlessly pushed to its limits. same goes to the GTR, however the viper is far more capable... it just needs a proper driver to control the power and character of such a vehicle.
in the hands of a novice, the GTR would win easyy.

@bolla999999999 depends on the track, some tighter turns i can see the GTR possibly having an advatage being able to put the power down easyer and low air speed so downforce isent as relivent.. but some of the higher speed bends the ACR will have a greater advatage, from both downforce and the Awd advatage of the gtr being just about gone.

For all the people saying viper doesn't have 750hp have ever thought that gtr has paddle shifter and traction control where as the viper has no traction control and it's has stick shift 750hp is a lot specially if you jam your foot down in the first and the second gear maybe third you might get wheel and than you end up with a gear lever up your ass.

the viper didnt have 750 horsepower theres no way, it would have walked past a 550 horse gtr in that long of a straight. my bet is that the gtr had some weight shed from it, because a 750 horse viper also brings a fuck ton of torque into the mix as well. i feel theres more to this race than just these stupid numbers because a 750 horse viper aint no joke

It's a lot harder to launch a Viper than a GT-R... And GT-Rs have AWD. It wasn't the drivers fault the GT-R is quicker.

@thethatkid4 It's entirely the drivers fault that the GT-R was quicker. A Viper with 200 horsepower more than the GT-R should've easily taken it by car lengths. Net to mention the GT-R didn't even launch that much better than the Viper, so it should've been even easier to overtake him.

@stevedhenning A Hennessey 700R Viper with 725 horsepower does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and they have the best performance Vipers out there. Another 25 horsepower, especially that is supercharged, isn't going to take .3 seconds off the time and match the 2.9 of the GT-R.

@stevedhenning I couldn't agree with you more that past the AWD butter zone, the Vipers horsepower will pull in, but how hard is it it plant your foot down once you get up to speed? How can the Viper driver be a bad driver once he gets past the start? It isn't the drivers fault, driving skill in a straight line is all about the start and both the cars did exactly what they should of done. The driver can't be blamed for his Viper not pulling in the GT-R as expected.

@thethatkid4 That's a good point. But odds are with that much power, the Viper probably needed to be held all the way through 2nd and 3rd as well. So I would say with a different, more experience driver, or maybe more practice that Viper probably would've ended up on top. I'm not saying it's not possible the Viper is slower either. I would just say the driver would effect the outcome more than the car.
