  • Maybe I didn't pay enough attention, but it's me or there are no bolts at ALL in this build?

  • @SpiralPegasus

Yeah, there are no bolts that you can pick up in this build.

  • 2:46 it could have been for debug purposes.

  • I love the beta stage select music. Epicness!

  • The Frost Man Snowboarding stage wasn't so bad. It's the damn Wily's snowboarding one that got me every time (towards the end everytime).

  • @protoman111: I personally would love to beat the shit out of the level designers and programmers for that segment myself.

  • Mets Seem Faster in this version compared to the actual game

  • Very nice. I also don't recall there being sound effects for the birds on the island stage, and is it just me, or does Rock seem slightly bigger (almost as big as in R&F in this game)?

  • Figured I point something out in the intro stage in case you didn't notice it. At 5:08, there is supposed to be a tree that you could test the Mega Ball on after you got it from Rush in the final. Not sure why they removed it in the beta though.

  • I'll be honest, the music in the prototype doesn't sound good to me at all. Thank goodness they changed it in the final version.

  • That running annimation is pretty laughable.

Good stuff though. o and that soundtrack was pretty awesome, get it out there dude.

  • @THEmounster

    Done :)

  • yo mr degamer

  • @MrNAONY

    Hola ^_^

  • Also, the Cacom logo animation is different. It uses the PSX X3 version, rather than the "lights and prisms" version used in the final, X4, and Battle& Chase.

I Also think the little box around the "start continue etc" is different. I dont recall those hammers there... Wow the underwater part is COMPLETELY different in look. I think Rock's swimming animation might be different too. Hmm. what would be interesting would be if those unused "Shoot! Shoot!" warning things are in this build

  • @FlameG102

What hammers? I must be looking at it wrong. o_O

  • Look at the box. look at the two dark blue parts. dont those resemble hammers?

  • @FlameG102

Oh, that. I think the final version does have that.

  • Do you remember the name of the website that you mentioned at 14:20? (Even the user name)?

Even if the website is down now, there are web archival services that can access old websites.

  • @thestarsprism

With as many MegaMan/Rockman fan sites I've visited in the last 14 years, I'll be very fortunate if I can remember it. :(

There was also a sample for the Saturn version but I don't remember what it was.

  • Here's hoping there are more unused tracks in this beta build. Is there a possibility you can upload a music appreciation of all the unused tracks? Or if you can make the whole build available for public?

  • @MusashiAA

I totally and wholeheartedly second this motion.

  • @MusashiAA

Music tracks have been uploaded. Check the video description box. As for the build, I'm waiting for a response.

  • Music-wise, every track this video shows is completely absent from the final release. Opening stage is more upbeat and happy. Stage select sounds more menacing. And Frost Man Stage sounds more classic-ish than the final theme.

The final theme is more ominous and echo-y, like many final songs. The beta theme makes more emphasis on individual instruments and sounds somewhat more harmonic. I'm even considering if there was a change of composers somewhere in the middle of RM8's development.

  • @MusashiAA Not every track is absent. The Boss theme from the final version is -- for the most part -- still in this build, around 8:13.

Frost Man's beta theme from this build, to me, sounds *vaguely* like a certain track from Resident Evil 2 in instrumentation. This is probably because Shusaku Uchiyama worked on both games and used some music instruments from MM8 in RE2.

As for the possibility of a change of composers mid-way in development, for Capcom it wouldn't be the first time.

  • MEGA MAN-WISE - His walking animation is different. It resembles SS Cut Man's walking animation.

     - His swiming animation looks different, too. Seems unfinished, but it's clearly different.

INTRO STAGE - Underwater section is more dull-colored and with a different tileset. - Yadokargo seems a bit more resistant against the Mega Ball. FROST MAN STAGE - Second snowboarding section is much faster than in the final release. - First snowboarding section has different, complicated areas.

  • It's worth mentioning the following:

    - The lives/weapon counter is slightly different.

    - The lives counter resets after a stage, apparently.

    - The Rock Ball doesn't disappear over time.

    FROSTMAN STAGE

    - The glass screen in certain areas of is a different color.

    - There's an additional (DOWNWARD!) lift before the second load point.

    - There's no ice floor to Astro Crush in the second part of the stage.

    - There's a LOT more enemies in the second snowboard section.

  • @JosephCollins

You are right on all of that. But just like the powerups, the Rock Ball stays on screen. I actually forgot to mention them in this video since the first one I recorded didn't turn out good (my mic went haywire) so I had to do a second recording. I did mention 5 of the 7 things you pointed out in my first recording, but it's all good. You spotted them anyway!

  • Nice mouse.

  • @xnamkcor

The mouse icon was the best part of the video!

  • damn i wish there was a iso available for this so i could put it on my psp lol (just for some thing cool)

  • @notfragile15

Patience ma boi. It's coming. I upload the songs as well for those that want them.
