Blues Jr is fine for what it is. I've had two and liked them. I have 73 Silverface Super Reverb now and needless to say have no intentions on getting another BJr.
I've never really been able to hear the "Boxiness" of the BJr that people always speak of until this vid.
ABing the BJr with the SR really highlights it for me.
I'd take that Super ANY DAY over the BJ. I had one & ditched it. Using a vibrolux right now which also kills the BJ. BJ is ok as a small practice amp, but live? Meh...

what do you think of the reverb on the blues junior? I have a spring reverb tank and just looked at the schematic for the reverb driver section. might throw it together.
silverface deluxe.. yeah thats my alltime favorite tonemonster. ive thought about gettin one over the years, played throuhg quite a few, but could never get away with 22 watts in the past. lateley ive been gettin away with 15watts.( it figures!) my band is playing at normal levels finally after 20+ years. should have picked one up. i always keep my eyes open for one, but people want 1000+ for them now. oh well!
@derosa504 Got my '72 silverface out of some guys garage and walked it 6 blocks to my home in 103 degree weather my 12th summer after mowing people's yards and finally getting myself a peavey falcon. Heard of this amp, got it for $100. But, he told me if I dug it out of his garage and got it home without him having to do anything he'd sell it to me for $80. Done and done. Sad to say it quit working several years ago, will be blackfacing and restoring it very soon. Best sounding amp on earth
Interesting comparison! I have the older BJr. and the (NOS) BJr. I also have a '69 (silverface) Deluxe Reverb. They all sound good; but I'd rank 1st. (sf) DR, 2nd. (NOS) BJr., 3rd. (original) BJr. clear difference in quality but all have served me well. Thanks for the A/B demo. TB
