The Defender isn't a Sports Utility Vehicle! It's certainly a Utility Vehicle but it is not sporty.

Sport kind of implies speed, which isn't the Defender's strength; agility, adaptability and, well, strength are.

Hope Land-Rover isn't dumb enough to do away with the Defender - it's their only off road utility and it would leave them in a "the emperor's wearing no clothes" situation.

I don't think modern regulations would let them market a vehicle as suited for work .

police are USELESS when it comes to stolen vehicles- my wrangler was stolen from MCC while i was in class- i went to the CAMPUS POLICE STATION and it took them 2.5 hours to write a report after driving me around the lot to make shure i diddnt forget where i parked. 3 and a half weeks later they found my car in a hotel parking deck with no interior- ciggerette burns all over it and 500 miles added onto my odometer .. oh yea, i filled my tank that morning.

Killing the Defender is a very, very stupid move from Tata. "Defender" is a ready-made brand. It's a synonym for durable and solid motoring. It takes decades to build such a brand. Killing it because of stupid US laws is absurd. Why not redesign so that it complies with safety regulations. Mercedes-Bend G-Class is pretty much the same story - and MB are not killing it because of Yankee laws... Dumb move Tata!

Adding a rotor or turbo would be nice for the RX-8 for an appropriate price, but maybe the real message here is The RX-7 should end at the FD so its perfection isn't ruined by the skyrocketing emission and safety regulations, even though the gentleman's agreement has been broken for the most part. A car with looks rivaling a Viper, handling rivaling Porsche, sub 3000lb. car with enough power to beat its rivals for under 40k may be impossible.

OK.. First - the BMW 7-series was always a bit ugly.. It just got a whole lot uglier.

The Katerham 175 (or whatever it is), is underpowered. They already proved that they can slot a V8 in there and give it 500 horsepower, which beat Veyron around Top Gear test track.

VERY TRUE ..but the Defender just like the Land Cruiser pick up , which i don't know if you ever saw in action , are robust off roaders . In these cars an A/C & seats are an options but throw them anywhere & they work . You could see them in the military , farmers & enthusiasts . Maybe the Porsche dealership turned him down for a test drive, and he wanted an inconspicuous car with good gas mileage. He did make it too far for Grand Theft Auto and Kidnapping without a tag and being a fugitive already. I agree with you though, if I stole something to get caught I would steal a Porsche or Corvette and drive as fast as I could until I crashed or ran out of gas.
