  • i actually love your hair like this :D

  • does youtube pay you enough? and john i bet you could find a job. like. OMG teach art! totalyyy

  • You should go to Andrews University in Michigan :)

  • 40,000 a year?! wow american schools are insane! soo glad i live in ireland :)

  • im looking to apply to the same schools, but im worried that im going to be put in the same situation. so if you figure something out, please share xD

  • I love collegehumor, amir is fricken adorable.

  • i <3 college humor!

  • haha just looked at the flickr pic from the college humor thing and that was the one where sam and amir were rapping which is awesome

  • every video starts the same!

    "HEY EVERYBODY!"

    :D

  • i'm not sure how far behind i am on your vids but for the deciding about college thing....it's a tough decision, you aren't really going to get what you want out of the school you're in now but it is a lot of money to get the education you need. i'd say just keep pushing for money, because it seems that the art schools would teach you more about art and get you a better job. just follow your instincts.

  • college humor show is really funny

  • Go to a Canadian art school! I'm preeeeetty sure it'd be a lot cheaper. Just sayin.

  • It probably would be, but he'd have to factor in the out-of-state tuition. Also, he's still living at home. But Canadian art school would be amazing. :D

  • You would think after 4 years of school u would be ahead, Ud just be owing 120 grand+. i dont see that as a good idea.

  • if you feel that you're going to get a better education from this school thats expesive, but you're really really passionate about it, then go. Happiness comes with no pricetag in the long run. It'll be worth it.

  • aww i hear ur college money woes. good luck!!

  • Cool.

    I'll add your flickr account.

  • omg! i really wanted to go to ch live. i have to go there next time

  • i like your vlogs, but you're comedies and skits are more entertaining if you ask me :)

  • you do a really nice smile at around 0:30 when you're "like cause i didn't feel like spending the money to get one".

    just saying.

    :)

  • College is free in the UK and u go to college at 16 here and u get get Education Maintenance Allowence where the college pays u

    lol

  • "college" isn't the same thing here as it is in the UK. It's the equivalent of going to university or whatever you doods call it

  • thats probably true, but its the same principle really but you'll get there, well i hope you do

  • I love how people like to convince themselves that where you get educated is a big deal and this college is better than that.

Yet when it comes to employing, it's experience that counts the most. They don't care where you learnt what you know. They want to know what you've done so far with that knowledge. It's why ivy league grads who spent $1000's on a degree will still work for nothing to get experience.

So go where you'll be happy and not go into debt or least not too much.

  • The college I want to go to IS better than the one I'm at now though. I don't care about the -name- either. I'm going to have more experience with photography going to this other school.

  • you look foine with that hair... :)

  • oh i forgot to say ... the website is awesome.. and i love your hair cut!!

  • Your so great.. dont worry about those people that dont like your vid. your just great.. your friends are lucky to be your friend.. your so cool

  • I go to SVA. True, it's expensive, and going here should primarily depend on what your major will be, and how much you should expect to make, in order to pay off your debt. I'm a Computer Art major, where our business pays great, and is in high demand. On the other hand, if you go to SVA to be a "Cartooning" major, and expect to pay off your debts in your lifetime, don't do it.

  • John,Your parents will not help you? I have sent 4 kids though college and have a 5th in the UC system in Calif. and I believe that $45K per year is a really good investment, beside once your done with school and have a great job you should be able to pay off your bills.

  • OMG ! when your video finished my nose started to bleed : O

  • wow

  • Yeah my school is about 50,000 a year, so it was a big decision to come here... I mean I'm transferring because I think I'd be happier somewhere else, but it was really worth the experience. I had a great time. :)

  • Has anyone gotten their shirt yet?

I thought we were supposed to get them on the 31st?

    arghhhhhh

  • i want my shirt too D:

  • i saw u @ the bus stop n ur hair looks good =]

good luck n congrats on gettin in2 parsons!

  • i just subscribed because i love ur new hair :D

  • EVERYONE has a debt from school. Most people go to school on loans...and most people are paying off student loans.

IT IS reality....your GOING to have to take out a loan. Its not that bad..u pay off less then 100 a month..and u dnt have to start paying until u graduate.

  • you look younger with new haircut

  • the new hair looks cool dude

  • woot!! more power to you. i've been enjoying everything you've done so far. keep up the good work and good luck with everything (:

  • You have a cute voice. :)

  • I'm going to med school! to become a Dentist the complete tuition is 300,000 Dollars. I don't know if its worth it either

  • Awwe. :( That suck sawhee. D:

  • oh my goodness.. I know how you feel, I'm doing my whole bachelors online through The Art Institute of Pittsburgh for graphic design.. and I was just informed that my grants ran out and I have to pay over $1000 a month till I get new grants in july.. joy!

  • Yeah man, if it's what you love and have a passion for, I really think it will work out. Go for it mister, you may be able to do some good with your talent :D God bless.

  • hey you are cute <3

  • I love your hair now.

    It's cut, like, perfectly.

Whenever they cut mine, it's cut either too long, or short, or it's crooked.

I have a place that cuts it right, but my being a girl, I have extremely long hair. It's also really thick, espectially when washed. If it's been dried recently, it is honestly half a foot out from my head.

    It gets expensive -.-

  • hayyyy apply to the Fashion Institute of Technology! whats your major though?

  • In Scotland we don't pay for tuition. Not necessary but I thought I'd just point that out, like a dick.

I wouldn't worry too much about getting a job in three/four years. The economy might well be back on its feet by then. Lack of money should not dissuade you from continuing your education.

  • just delete the ?Flip or whatever from the URL.

  • haahhaa did youtube do the flip thing to everyone?

  • yeah WHAT THE HELL I THOUGHT I WAS FREKIN!!!! CRAZY!!!!!

  • yea i think its for april fools day.

  • hey john whats up

  • haha... I watched this video more than twice :P

so.. did you make your decision yet... sorry it might be too soon ask

I hope you will get into the college you want, cause your deserve it, plus I think your very talented in art

  • i would say (and i currently really wonder why no one has ,at least said it lately(on this page)) that you should save up for a little while. just until you get the money, get a good paying job, work side jobs for friends when u can. nice work on your videos, personally, i love them all. good luck. haha, i paused somewhere and your eyes look wierd o_o" i need a new sense of humor xDD

  • i loved your old hair grow it out again plz!

  • you are so lucky u got to meet the collage humor cast ! i love their show = ]

  • I can see how 7th grade girls who just discovered your Youtube recently would want you to stay 16 & keep vlogging forever. But i like the mature adult John who's willing to take risks & chances.

Definitely talk to graduating seniors at each school to see what job prospects are. Also, try deferring a year or 2 & working fulltime to save-up some cash.

  • i think u should stay where u are man.....taking out a loan for thousands of dollars is gonna be tough to pay back especially in your generel career path....then again screw it do what ya gotta do....id rather do something i love than be stuck at a 9 to 5 desk job all day....damn my comments dont make a lot of sense.....good luck man

  • Can't you get a foundation grant or something?

  • Why don't you go 2 years in college and the other 2 in university that way you can ask for financial aid for both and you won't have to pay the 30 thousen because the only way you can get a full scholar ship is if you were an A student in highschool

  • looks good

  • sva is school of visual arts, right? :)

  • yep!

  • I think you should go to a cheaper school. You want to be able to come out of collage with a smile on your face, not a huge debt.

It's highly likely that you'll have an amazing time at any collage you attend :-)

And I like your explaination about your videos, I hope it clears everything up for your subscribers :D

  • not completely true. I'm at a cheap college right now and I'm not at all happy :(

  • Oh man. Sorry to hear you're not happy. But different college, different people. You never know. But I hope you work something out soon.

  • u sould ask your parents

  • its sad, been in the same position, i ended up just going with the cheapest option, a degree is a degree *shrug* plus a career depends on how proactive you are about making yourself a sucess.

  • might have to go overseas to go to a free college! hehe goodluck! <3

  • you're really good at vlogging i think ha

and college stuff is always on my brain as well. too stressful

  • JMAN

i hope life is less stresful soon :/

Why can't college be free =<

  • Thanks PDUDE

  • I completely understand how you feel. I want to be a chiropractor which means an advanced degree. (6 yrs) There's only one place that offers that in my state and its a chropractic college. My dad makes really good money(but he won't help me through at all), so I won't get much financial help. :/

  • come over and study in ireland :D its free here:D

  • hollley expensive schooling

    thankgoodness for good ol' Canadian

    cheap community college/universitys

i've been freaking about saving for

college but its only like 3000 for the

program i want to go into.

  • Yikes, is school that expensive over in the States?

I'd look into spending some time in the great white north, where tuition is closer to 2000$ a year instead of 30-40k.

Hopefully something works out for you.

  • I would look into Sallie Mae, they'll be more than happy to give you a loan and you don't have to pay it off until 6 months after you graduate. That's what I am doing, and I'll be going to work happy every day because I'll love what I do, I think that is the most important thing. With the Perkins Loan mentioned below, it usually comes with your financial aid package. I hope everything works out, but believe me there are always ways to pay for school. I've found most of them to be where I am now.

  • too bad you can't win the lottery cause that way you can paid for your college tuition :P

this is only a joke so don't take it seriously

  • Times won't be rough by the time you graduate. College is worth the investment. I'm in a similar situation.

  • Comment removed

  • FAFSA and Perkins Loans....look into it

  • I of course did the fafsa and am not getting much money from it. I'll look into perkins loans though

  • AW yeah! I love Amir. <3

  • haha right when you said, "my hair is gone" the advertisement popped up and it said "i lost my stretch marks!"

i got really confused for a second.

  • XDDD

  • everything u do is simply amazing. Do what ever u feel u are good at ^_^ people go from pre-school to high school to find what they are good at. i found i was good at visual arts. ...well im only in middle school...but still i was an early person xD PS im buying a shirt (s) soon ^^

  • I think you should go for in since you might regret it afterward. but i hope everything goes well!!

  • yay! as long as the vlogs keep coming it doesn't matter how often or if they change.

i just love to hear you rant! lol =P

  • love the vid miss ur hair tho..

  • I don't XD That hair was so much of a hassle

  • likeing the hair

  • i don't either understand why people are all the time saying how the old videos of someone were "soo much better". of course videos change in the same way as one's personal taste in things : )

you'll figure out the college thing eventually for sure : ) !

  • Stick with the art colleges dude, your way talented man.

  • thanks :)

  • Your Welcome John. =+)

  • congratulations!! find all the scholarships that you can(from the school and not from the school)

and your new hair looks really good!

  • It's an honor to even be accepted at parsons! congrats! you'll figure out the right thing to do :)

  • I had the same problem when I had to go to University, So instead of making all that debt, I got myself a decentish job and saved as much money that was possible, And the result? I have been working for 3 years to be able to pay for my University studies that are starting next year :) Where there is a will, There is a way! :D

  • DUDE I FREAKIN LOVE THE HAIR

  • Maybe you should consider doing your first two years of college at a community college so that it will be cheaper. Then when you are done taking the first two years you go to a four year college. In college the first two years everyone takes the same classes mostly so there really is no use in going to an expensive college for the first two years. This would save a lot of money. make sure your credits can transfer to the college you want to go to next though.

  • That's what I'm doing XD I'm finishing up my second year at a normal college right now but only about half of my credits are going to transfer. Still better than nothing

  • Way better than nothing. You are a smart cookie. XD doing it the good way... most people throw away a bunch of money the first two years. Hahahaha.

  • i like you're hair, it looks really good :)))

good luck trying to figure everything out!

    <3

  • oh wow! im really into college humor vids right now...especially Jake and Amir and Hardly Working ones so i got really excited when you said that you were trying to get an internship there and that you met them and everything! :))

  • They were really nice :D

  • ilove your hair it looks alot better !

  • everytime i see you it's just like GAH gorgeous new hair hahaha xx it looks so good

  • i like the longgg vlogs!

    congrats, good luck

    and lovely haircut :)

    <3

  • ok i really love your videos...but i just dont have the patience to sit through them anymore they are way too long. sorry

  • My videos have always been this long. Seriously. ALWAYS.

  • yup i know ! it was ok in the beginning but it gets old...i still love you(friend) though! wow that didn't sound creepy! =) yah but seriously OLD... sorry man

  • Can't be getting "old" for most people considering I have over 17,000 subscribers, most who have subscribed just for my vlogs.

Do not call me your friend.

  • yeah obviously i mean i just meant me...i guess i'v just been watching your vids way too much lol still good =J

  • LOL you got told

    aha.

    =D

    (Y)

  • all right now this sucks! since when are we not allowed to express ourselves anymore? that's not fair that is what the comments are for am i right? Not everybody HAS to love it what is the friken deal i didn't say anything mean or stuff!like i said i still like your vids! i'm allowed to have a opinion! what's one stupid subscriber to YOU anyhow? so from now on i guess i won't ever say what i REALLY think in the comments anymore! :'( yeah this is great thanks guys this REALLY made my day (not).D=

  • Are you depressed too?

  • NOW i am D: welcome to the club.

  • why and I should welcome you to the club :/

  • hang on a min! by "friend" dude i meant not creepy fan love k? =/

  • =] congratulations on getting in. I know what you mean...I'm to go to nursing school to get my associates degree so I can pay for school after wards. Yay for art schools, though! Uhg...School makes me feel like I'm getting ulcers though. I'm not sure what to tell, you but I hope it works out for you.

  • Who's the new seqzi guy who replaced that dude with the long hair? ;D

  • XD goob

  • First, congratulations on getting in. I really know how you feel. I also didn't have money for the school I wanted to go to (the school I got into), no only did I not get scholarships, but I also didn't receive a loan for it. And I definitely could not pay 30 grand myself. I think as long as you find a steady job, get some nice scholarships, a loan, and get some financial help from your family (even money for food, school supplies etc) you should be fine. Everyone has student loans...

  • Second, with an economy right now its hard to find a job in a field u are studying in. but its no use to work doing something you don't like doing. so I think following ur dream is the best way to go. trying and motivations is all it takes. you can do anything with a positive attitude. I am in my city's community college's visual communication program. I'm getting my associates trying to save up some money for a better school to transfer. if it doesnt work out. i still got associates.

    good luck

  • why don't you apply to cooper union, its free

  • I won't have enough studio credits to apply until after this semester is over

  • congrats on those svu and parsons! they're really nice schools :] i'm going through the same thing. i've applied for multiple scholarships, they actually add up! my school is about $50,000 a year so it's pretty intense. good luck with everything :]

if you happen to go to parsons, you should totally get me tim gunn's autograph ;] hahaha

  • this is sooooooooo LONGGGGG. WHYYYY.

  • Most of my videos are this long.

  • ugg I feel you! I am going to art school during the summer and university during the year and the money issues are PAINFul. But pretty much I know that in order to do the things i love i needed to make some sacrifices, this means be very money conscious, dnt buy the things that i really don't need and save save work work and save. i know it will all pay off in the end

  • Hey, I'm sorry to hear about the financial doubts but, there is pretty much a scholarship for anything. Right now I'm doing one called the Silverbird Scholarship...If you do 400 hours of community service you could be eligible to get the scholarship...You should look it up, it might help.

If they see your nice haircut they might put in a couple of points too!

  • as far as school, you just need to do what makes you feel happiest. i think things have a way of working out when we follow our passions.

  • Same issues.

I want to go to c.c.s. and i think im going to community for like 2 years then transfer.

But my instructor tells me get a government loan.. and get a good job you love and you can pay it off.

If your good at what you do.. youll love what you do and youll get a job in that feild.

    Good luck john!

  • COOL HAIRCUT!!!

/yeah it was too much before, pretty uncomfortable/

    ...good luck with important decisions!

    take care

    x

  • hey john, I'm also going to be attending to college in September and I sorta have some similar problems like you.

I don't know how much the tuition is going to be yet since I only got conditional acceptance but overall I still don't know how I'm going to get all that money.

Also, I'm still not sure if the program I chose is something I really want to do for my future

  • student loans are part of life.

    almost everyone has one.

just go for it, you'll most likely regret it if you don't...

  • John, although I don't know you personally, I hope you don't end up regretting anything you do, because you deserve the best anyone could ever get. Just follow your heart (:

If I had a credit card I would totally buy a shirt. Maybe I'll order one the next time I get one of those Simon Gift Cards. (:

You're amazing and you make me wanna get out there and just do something.

Your haircut looks great by the way.

  • Aw thank you :]

  • i think your hair cut is cute!

  • LUV your new haircut XD

  • from my experience, you never know what the environment/economy is going to be after you graduate. before i select my discpline, the university showed us a list of average salary for fresh grad of each department tht yr... computer engineering was the top 1 or 2, after my graduation, it's almost only 60% comparing to 4 yrs ago...

  • I feel ya on the haircut, I got lucky and found people in the dorms that have cut my hair for free. ALSO! Ahmen brother about realizing that you change over time. Change is good. I think your videos are just getting better dude. I'm trying to do some soon because of you

  • We should give him money... like a dollar each would add up...

  • Ha naw I wouldn't wanna mooch off of youtube

  • John

    I know you're super busy

but could we do a collab sometime

    for my channel AshleyIsIdle?

    please let me know.

    I love your rants, you're a wonderful person :]

  • srry dont like the new hairdo but your still amazing.

  • haha vlogcandy makes up for that ya'know?

like you make a vlog a week if people care THAT much they cn just watch that

thats what i do :] vlogcandy is well great for keeping up w/ all you guys but i like your skits your like ALL around hilarious to me :DD

  • John.. buddy.. stop trying to explain yourself. You don't have to do any explaining to anyone, this is STILL YOUR CHANNEL LOL. As for school, I'd like to talk to you on AIM about that. I have something to say and I think you need to hear it (regarding colleges and picking them). IM me or I will IM you when I see you active.

    xoxo,

    //Kevin

  • x]]

  • Ooooo can we see some of your artwork?

  • Have you thought about studying abroad?

Its actually cheaper than the US. Especially like France. I was an exchange student there and its less than a thousand per year to study in college! but if u dont speak french, UK is good. A little more pricey than France, but less cheaper than US. UK is usally rounds up about to $6,000 avg per year :) good luck with whatever u choose to do!

  • I love Collegehumor! Ahaha.

  • Does the american government not give student loans?

  • Thank you for sharing. I like the fact you are thinking about the college situation and the impact that will have. I also like you know the only thing that is constant is change. I hope you get to join this program you are interested in joining.

  • I LOVE YOUR HAIR

  • i love you hair how it is now.... good luck on getting money for college and i totally mean it......... adn i also totally agree about the changeing thing everyone does change constintly and i totally loved this vid of yours it was really good and deep and just so great so yeah :)

  • 0:32

"it's the only place that doesn't rape"

    o.O

what kinda place you live in, john?

  • "that does it right"

    lol

  • I'm pretty sure he said "It's the only place that does it right."

  • "It's the only place that does it right".

  • And talk to your local bank about a loan. I think that might happen.

  • John, go to SVA. You will not be disappointed and you WILL get a job that you love. Trust me. You are too good of a person for something like that to happen to you and yes you will be in a massive amount of debt but it will be worth it.

  • i don't think it would be wise to spend all that money on college=/ try to find a job that you like where workers are in demand.

  • That would be awesome if you were on college humor =D

  • Thaaaat would be amazing. Totally not gonna happen XD but interning there would be kewl enoguh

  • Paying off college debt is extremely hard to do after college.

I don't think Iever met one person that payed it off. I wored and took an extra year to finish my first degree so that I didn't have the debt. I am very glad I did.

  • love your hair!

  • you shoudnt let money get in your way

of an education you want to get.

  • What you need to do is go research different scholarships that aren't from the school. You have to look for the small, random ones and get money from various organizations that provide those. If you are still in contact with your high school counselor (or if you have one in college) I would go talk to them about places to start. That's what I'm doing (I also want to go to an art school like Pratt or SMFA).

  • Hey John!! Interesting video, and I like your hair a lot! =]

  • Embrace the debt, John. Everyone else in the US has ridiculous college debt too, and not half as talented as you. Like everyone else ,too, you'll pay it off. The education you'll recive at theese schools is far superior to, I'm guessing Bklyn College, or Kingsboro.(Not stalking, just a fellow Bklynite making inferences from things you said.

Have you checked out Cooper Union? I hear that they're almost all scholarship.

Anyway, your hair looks great, Good luck w/ College humor, and Cheers!

    _Mike

  • I'd encourage you to stay away from debt as much as you can. I've never been in debt so I guess I wouldn't know, but I'm sure its overwhelming and frightening.

I think you should just wait it out a little bit until you're sure of exactly what you want to do as a career. Once you have that figured out, then do as much as you can to reach that dream. If that means a loan, then I guess that's what has to be done. But keep consequences in mind.

On a lighter note, your hair looks really good! :D

  • I'm glad you like youre hair xD and college humor is the bomb

  • just tell them to shut the eff up

  • I'd stay away from bank loans unless they're necessary, because interest can be a bugger. I'm not sure how it works in the states, but in ontario (canada) there's this thing called OSAP which is financial aid, and based on where you go, what you're doing, and your family situation etc, you get a certain amount of money and only have to pay a certain amount back, and you don't have interest on it until you're completely out of school. But good luck with everything!

  • you kinda look like my friend with your hair that way. It looks awesome!!!! =]
