  • are those emg's? doesnt sound like it. I wanna try one of these guitars so badly. what is it made out of!

  • @rickenbacker95 Hey man thanx for watching, and No, those are just smooth black plastic covers for looks sake. Underneath there are a set of original Bill Lawrence pickups, L500XL and L500R.

The guitars are made of a wood/fibremix consisting mostly of Finnish spruce, you can read all about the Flaxwood proprietary material at their website flaxwood[dot]com.

    Cheers//Richard

  • Damn nice guitar !

  • Stunning.

  • I like how the notes breath and are spaced ^_^ I still need to train more to get to a level like that.

  • nice work!

  • You are a really good player with lots of cool chops! Thanks for all the videos. Your playing sounds so fresh and "new".

    Never stop playing.

  • Whoa whoa whoa.. whats the hurry? Damn you just blew my mind there. I'm still quite a novice compared to anything you did there.

Where in the world would you suggest I start to eventually get like that? All scales and modes?

  • Hey bro, thanks for watching and the kind words! Actually, scales and modes are of course important, but more so is Timing and Note Value Alteration. If you are interested, check mine (and others) lessons at "Infinite Guitar". BR/Richard

  • sem rumo. kd a Direct Injection ? só vi fritação sem graça

  • Where did you get the flaxwood?

  • Hey man, really a good job!!!

  • I think this is well done.

And as for the "face scrunches", i think it's nice. Getting involved with the music.

All the great guitar players do it ;]

For example, Clapton, Blackmore, and so on.

    It's great work!

  • You're a very good guitar player, fretdance. Congratulations (:

ps: Just forget the assholes - like JPD620.

  • Hi Richard where did u get that backing track....Did u make it?

I love all these fusion type Howe Backings where can i get some...i love your expression great note choice...love hearing u play over the changes...Fukn MAGIC

  • Thanks for the comments =)

The backingtrack was provided by Greg Howe himself for the "Play for me" competition. However, I added my own funk rhythm voicings, as well as fusion voicings in the second half. The original backing is just a basnote no chords. (f you listen to the other contibutions for Direct Injection you'll hear what I mean).

  • very nice playing, lots of feeling

  • stop with the "feeling" face scrunches. you are a fine player but doing that is played out.

  • lol, man... I just play, sometimes I make faces, sometimes I don't, nothing I care to try and control. And you could always close your eyes when listening to players if that's bothering you :)

  • Stöört bra spelat!!

  • nice

  • gooddd

  • Gran guitarrista.

  • where can i find this backing track... great playing man!

  • Nice playing. Are those EMG's? And what guitar is it..Looks like a Jackson logo on the headstock.

  • Thx for watching bro. The guitar is my signatur emodel form my sponsors Flaxwood Guitars. visit flaxwood dot com. The pickups are Bill Lawrence originals but with black plastic covers. (EMG look, without the sterile EMG sound :P ) visit billlawrence dot com. /Richard

  • awsome playing dude.. ive jammed with you a few times on yahoo & camfrog (id is usually redemption)..

  • greg howe winner

  • awesome .. and super cool guitar too .. 5 stars from me .. your friend jeff

Jeff Williams NiNja ALeiN RoBoT GuiTaRiST :) hehe ..

  • it's very difficult to hear your soloing over the backing track, it's mixed too low and it sounds like room echo I'm hearing, not effects....

  • Yeah, sorry bout that, I will see about remixing the vid and reposting it :)

  • thanks :D

  • hey man how I can learn that technique in which you use finger 2 and 3 of the right hand?

where can i search tabs or something for learn this technique?

you play really clean, and have great ideas

    lol

  • Thanks man! I can't post links here, but just google for "hybrid picking" and you will get tons of results =)

  • Fantastic!! imho this is the best version of D.I. in contest. Respect (^_^)

  • Aweseom as always!

  • Okay, bro. Of all of these that I've watched on YouTube, yours is best - hands down. The flavor and feel in your playing trumps the other guys. There was only one other notable entry that I've seen so far but... yeah, man. Terrific job! Oh, and what make and model guitar is that? It looks sweet!

  • Thank you for those kind words man! I really appriciate it. That guitar is my endorsment model from FLaxwood guitars in Finland. The guitars are molded wood, and are just simply amazing! Check them out at flaxwood dot com. They sure changed my views of what a guitar is and how it can sound. And if you have a myspace, you can always add me there :) myspace dot com / fretdance

  • Cool man! Will do!

  • Fy SATAN va bra!! Jag vill också kunna lira som du!

  • Wow man.. good job. I really enjoyed the extra chords you used over the second chord. Why didn´t I think of that=))... Anyway, that was great, it really opend up and gave you opertunity to create intresting and tasteful music. Good luck with your contribution..

  • Wow thanks alot for listening to :) But my timing is way off and my phrasing... lol haha I checked out your myspace and i love the metal tunes! Wow great style im still wowed by you!!! Cya around

  • wow, very proffesional like playing, very technical also, im very impressed with this. Wow, you're up there with the rest of the proffesionals in my mind. If you have time could you check myspace dot com / Adamlajoie .

  • Hey Adam, thanks for the kind words! Added you on myspace bro. And right back at ya! You got greeeeat tone on the Gilmoure jam! Strat huh? You play some excellent blues man :)

  • hey fretdance good job!

i'm wondering what kind of scales you use during the solo I know that the intro riff is E F F# DONT know any scale on top of that (only chromatic)

  • Hi, thanx for watching! The original riff is in C# (with a shortermodulation to D between 1.00-1.38. The thing here is that the original backing is only usign root-notes nothign else. I have added the additional rhythm tracks myself. For the C# part, you have a funk rhythm going down with a cromatic passing note from the b7 down to the 5th. SO in this part I use mainly Dorian, eolian and some cromatic displacement.

  • During the second (D) part, I have just added soem atonal chords by ear, suggestiong anythign from wholetone, to diatonic to altered scales. Basically, I just played chords by ear, and then improvised by ear as well, no pre-analyzed theorietical construct behind it :)

  • Love it, best vid I've seen, great time! You're one of the few guys, who actually nailed the fusion vibe. Most others to me were way too \m/.

  • Thanx man, appriciate it! You are definatly my no 1 in this competition, hands down! You got great lines! Saw that you were also on the Petrucci forum :P

  • Hey Richard, Adji from Shred Academy here. This video is great, awesome playing and awesome sound. Your tapping is very Greg Howe!!

  • That's really awesome!! great phrasing and nice outside playing and, above all, VERY nice timing! great job!

  • A truly great improvisation... Really liked it! 5 stars, without any doubt whatsoever...

  • Damn you're good :)

  • Great work Bro!

Nice to see someone thinking outside the box.

    Take it easy

    Rick

  • Coming from you, that's a great compliment, thanks man! I appriciate it!

  • Thanks for watching guys :) Appriciate the feedback!

  • really great!

  • Kool Vid man, some pretty good improv goin on here, 5 stars defo.
