What a shite video, how very poor a response from Premier Williams was not also shown. It makes whatever argument you are attempting to promote really bloody weak.
I read a few posts which people have stated there opinions about our unemployment rate and how it's high compared to the rest of Canada. In 1992 an estimate of 19,000 people worked in the fishery. On July 3rd 1992 a two year Cod Moratorium was imposed by John Crosbie(Federal Fisheries Minister).
It has been 15 years and the Cod Moratorium is still in effect for local fishermen (but yet foreign ships are allowed fish in our waters). In my mind that's a large number of people to put out of work. What were the options for all these people? To wait for the Moratorium to end? To go back to school to get retrained or just move away for a job with a high pay rate?
This debate can go back and fourth between both sides, I just find it funny.
I can't comment on other provinces but I can recall a few deals that the federal government had screwed over Newfoundland from the Churchill Falls deal, from the oil being pumped off our shores to the cod fishery(which I still can't believe that let these foreign trawlers fish, but that's a whole different topic). But then again who is one to say the other is wrong while the other is right?
Preying on a weak Premier! Williams is slamming another province, for their choice in their Premier. Arrogant for sure. Williams is a blowhard, makes it seem like he is doing something for his province, while holding out his hand to the feds for even more money.
Whiff83, if the province is going to do so good, you don't need equalization from the other provinces then do you? Or do you want to stay on the welfare gravy train (Atlantic Accord) even when you are pulling in more than Alberta?
It would have been nice to let the liberal Newfoundland senator respond and explain what Williams comments were in reference to. Unfortunately this cheap edit only lets the other guy speak.
did he forget to mention the unemployment rate was %18 idiot, lol such a moron. thinks he's so smart when all he does is distort the facts to seem right, as opposed to actually saying what IS ACTUALLY RIGHT, pfft, good luck at the special olympics man

Too bad Newfoundland and Labrador's economy will surpass everything other province in Canada next year.
This guy only has half the facts. The sad thing is, everyone from the mainland will believe it because you're too ignorant to know the difference.

Haha, you gotta love it! Terry Stratton destroyed the bluster that Williams has been spewing lately, and he made it seem so easy.
Glad to see you're making these vids again Mulder!
