i type at around 90 wpm on the new mbp (partners) and mba (mine) and i have never experienced this, maybe its a problem from the older generation macs?

This is a common problem for both parties within the world of computerization due to the fact that many people (including myself) type TOO FUCKING FAST FOR THE COMPUTER TO PROCESS IT. I'm the guy who complained about the slowing down of typing. I recently reformatted my macbook pro about 1 month ago and it was BLAZING FAST. No perceptible reduction of typing speed whatsoever. Then to my dismay, I discovered the slow-typing problem was still there... but only sometimes, and much less noticeable. So in conclusion, the macbook pro will just slowly get worse over time, until it slows down your typing unbearably, and that's when you should reformat it... Windows does not do this.
Yes... this is a genuine problem, but honestly all computers have pros and cons. IMO the macbook has far more pros for this to even amount at all, and honestly it isn't that slow behind, and it really wouldn't bother me.

Does this happen on other apps. In textedit has a tick box for check spelling and check grammer & spelling set - Textedit default of autosave is at 30 seconds - . After running textedit get the PID beside textedit in Activity monitor and type sudo renice +10 XXX where XXX is replaced by your PID of textedit , your prompted for your admin password. Renice runs the program at a higher priority. if you do ps -pXXX -l ( this lists the process -your see the NI =nice value raised)

@MacBookCustomer it's not a keyboard problem, it's a combination of how fast you type and how slow the software is to catch up. The Cocoa text field (that app you're using is called TextEdit, and it uses that for input) has tons of processing that happens while you type. You might want to turn that off, as you don't use any of it. Not as you type anyway.
Turn off spell-checking and all that other fluff, and you'll be fine.

Ok.. Let me clarify my point of view in using this skill. In the real world, 90% of the people who type for long periods of time, type to write reports, essays, "FORMAL" emails or code programs.
Which in these cases your really going to spend most of your time thinking how you phrase your words, structuring them. And as such your not going to produce a master piece, typing that fast.
To be honest, I don't think it's the computer. And that's not intended that there's something wrong with you in any way but I work in a county clerk's office. My GWAM is 93, give or take an error or two. My mac nor any other I've ever worked on has lagged that way when I type.
And the possibilities of it being a malfunction--on every model you've tried--seems far fetched. Could it be something about the manner in which you type? The force on the keys? Or maybe the word processor program?
To be honest why would you want to type that fast, its not as if you can really think that quickly, I mean you ain't going to produce a master piece essay by typing 85wpm.
Its great that you can type that quick, but in the practical world, unnecessary.

If Apple wants to keep it's reputation in service, why shouldn't they try to either explain to him that he might want to upgrade his CPU, or update the macbook line in general to be more than capable of handling all typists.
it could be out-dated graphics drivers, try updating them; install the latest updates, and try something that was designed for high speed typing like pages, not that text editor!
i think i can solve this i think u should shut ur laptop off for a few hours and try it or keep it off for a a day and it is should work if not then ah....... take of all your data and do a hard reset i had this prob i shut it down for a few days and there u go but if u want it to get okay right away try type a little slower that should solve it!:)
regardless of the lag, most electronics are like this. THere is not a phone on this planet that doesnt lag when I text. And I use Nokia N95 N82 and Iphone. THey all lag just like this.
Come on! Can you honestly tell me that lag would affect or be a problem for the common user. After all that typing to only lag on one or two words is fine. i think the issue is that you might have been using an application in the background that used a lot of ram or something. other than that, maybe you just are typing too fast for the computer. even so, if you are typing too fast for the computer, it will eventually pop up on the screen anyway! it's a common problem with some computers.
a lot of writers do think that this would be a problems, and think about how many writer there are out there: movie writer, novels, secretaries, ... so it is a problem
Do you have Microsoft Word? because it looks like it's lagging because your typing in another Text program native to the Mac platform (know what it is, forgot the name)
no offence or anything but "commen people" dont type this fast unless their a secertary or something that you have to type this fast but good video anyways

@MacBookCustomer it's not a keyboard problem, it's a combination of how fast you type and how slow the software is to catch up. The Cocoa text field (that app you're using is called TextEdit, and it uses that for input) has tons of processing that happens while you type. You might want to turn that off, as you don't use any of it. Not as you type anyway.
Turn off spell-checking and all that other fluff, and you'll be fine.

Yeah, many of the mac laptops, before the aluminum ones, have had that issue. I used to have an iBook G4, and it did the same exact thing.

@mddsafc247 you can't help how fast you type. i've been typing at 90+mph since fourth grade. jobs like secretaries, briefers, etc. are required to type fast as well and it's not something you can just "change".
when i get really into something, i want to get my ideas out quickly and cannot afford to waste time & stop my train of thought for a slow, lagging computer. it's not arrogance, or craziness, it's just how we are.

I agree, these kind of problems are very annoying. However MACs ARE great.. my G5 is (in april) 5 years old and ive never had a single problem with it. As for my windows (which i gave to my mother) i had numerous problems EACH DAY.. Ive never tried a macbook tho, so im not gonna say too much

Ok.. Let me clarify my point of view in using this skill. In the real world, 90% of the people who type for long periods of time, type to write reports, essays, "FORMAL" emails or code programs.
Which in these cases your really going to spend most of your time thinking how you phrase your words, structuring them. And as such your not going to produce a master piece, typing that fast.

To be honest, I don't think it's the computer. And that's not intended that there's something wrong with you in any way but I work in a county clerk's office. My GWAM is 93, give or take an error or two. My mac nor any other I've ever worked on has lagged that way when I type.
And the possibilities of it being a malfunction--on every model you've tried--seems far fetched. Could it be something about the manner in which you type? The force on the keys? Or maybe the word processor program?

its probs just because the cpu isnt fast enough i get that problem some times on my pc the i end some things so that it can go faster and it worked i still got the lag some times :\ my cpu is 1.7GHz single core on windows xp but im thinking about getting a macbook pro 13inch

But that's the point isn't it? Why should he have to slow down for an inferior product? If Apple wants to keep it's reputation in service, why shouldn't they try to either explain to him that he might want to upgrade his CPU, or update the macbook line in general to be more than capable of handling all typists.

i think i can solve this i think u should shut ur laptop off for a few hours and try it or keep it off for a a day and it is should work if not then ah....... take of all your data and do a hard reset i had this prob i shut it down for a few days and there u go but if u want it to get okay right away try type a little slower that should solve it!:)

i think the issue is that you might have been using an application in the background that used a lot of ram or something. other than that, maybe you just are typing too fast for the computer. even so, if you are typing too fast for the computer, it will eventually pop up on the screen anyway! it's a common problem with some computers.
