I think its totally irresponsible of owners to let their cats roam, theres more chicks and fledglings killed by cats than Magpies, Crows and hawks , not for food either, not to mention all the cat crap you find while digging your garden !
@drogoBROADBAND I use various insects such as spiders and earthworms , I also use the Orlux Nutribird A21 for hand rising. I feed them every 20 minutes, the time between the meals is very important.
One was caught and pulled back by the cat, it happened very fast, the one that 'got away' died from its injuries when it hit the ground after leaping from a height, or was killed by the cat a little further away. I found it after some searching as I had hoped it escaped. Why are yours orphaned?
@drogoBROADBAND Well, in fact I find a blackbird nest in the woods behind my house, situated too close to the ground (even my knees were above it), so I decided to take the entire nest with me before a cat or a fox eat them ( they were about 2 days old). This is not my first hand raising, I actually raised a Carrion Crow and a Magpie last year and many Blackbirds.
HOLY SHIT that was crazy ! xD But I saw two of them leaving the nest when the cat appeared did they die ? I'm actually hand raising blackbirds chicks ( 4 ) so thanks for the video ! ;)
