This song always gave me the shivers....it is optimistic, and sad, and hopeful, and depressing....all at the same time......maybe the best song on the album.....
i was living in Red Bank N.J. at the time-- it was spring of 2002 ---walked into a cafe in Rumson N.J.( nearby) GUESS whos sittin there eatin with his father in law.BRUCE!!!!
spoke with briefly --we had a mutual friend we talked about and he signed my place mat---still have it
This man is superhuman! I just saw two concerts in the past 4 days (he actually played 3 shows in 4 days, but I missed one) and he plays 3 hours, NON STOP...and he'll be 60 years old next month! His concerts are EPIC! I pray every day that Bruce Springsteen will live forever!
the guy at 2:07 and the Asian chick at 2:35 show the amazement you feel at these shows. I've come to think that this is one of his best compositions, rather than some of those bombastic, anti-climactic warhorses, like Backstreets or Jungleland. No made up names, It's about you. You step out. You break through.
garrboy: too right, R.I.P. Tim Russert, glad he got to see this performance. Matt Lauer though needs a shot of what the crowd was feeling, what a TOOL!
this is the best bruce song and the best performance of it EVER! Bite me, if you disagree! Just look at them; are they having a good time or what? Great looking crowd as well. Well done NYC!
I been a Bruce fan for getting on 20 years. Saw him with the "other band", saw him with Seeger Sessions Band but never seen E Street, how bad is that. Best part is I got tickets for Manchester May 28th 2008. It really cannot come soon enough, 20 years in the waiting. Bruce is king !
well i am not sure if it changed my life, i would say 'war' by U2 did in my youth, but if i made a top 10 lp's of all-time list this would be at number-one now. so much passion.
nesnman????? not made good music in years?? are you well he has made great music past and present! His ticket prices for the magic tour are amongst the cheapest of any the super groups - only 50 quid for belfast! cHECK YOUR FACTS BUDDY!!
This was AWESOME!!!! I was there waiting in line at 2 a.m. It was SOOOOO worth it!!! Bruce put on a great show AS USUAL!!!! Can't wait to see him in Boston!!!!
it seems that on this tour he's not playing a lot of his famous material - no thunder road, no backstreets or jungleland, no dancing in the dark, born in the usa, glory days..... he's playing lots of born to run and born in the usa stuff, but not the most famous songs from those albums. thats fine though, its good to mix it up, but for my first springsteen concert (october 9) i probably would want him to play lots of things i know. whatever its gonna be amazing anyway
dude! he is just warming up! besides, on every tour he starts off with a lot of new material (which is what we really want to hear), and gradually adds all the staples :) relax and he will play that God forsaken Born in the USA for the 6,000,000,000th time :)
So, what did you think ? See, he DID play Born to Run and he's trotted out winners everywhere, Badlands, Incident, Kitty's Back, Growing Up, even Dancing in the Dark made it out. It has been an amazing tour.

Bruce opened many of his shows in the '70s with this classic. Great tune from BORN featuring a superb Big Man!

not many performers in their sixties are as close (or even better) than they were in their twenties, unlike springsteen.
