  • because gravel isn't a libertarian

  • Congress impeached Clinton for commiting a felony. Bush has been found guilty of nothing. All the attacks on Bush are political and biased opinions from ppl who hated him long before he was elected in 2000.

  • If a blow job is a felony, our nation is seriously on the wrong track!

Bob Barr probably liked Bush before he was elected in 2000. Before Bush was elected Bush was against Nation Building.

So I don't think that argument doesn't hold water against Bob Barr.

  • hey lets get bob barr elected president

  • He voted for the PATRIOT act.

    Ron Paul didn't.

I guess I'm voting for Obama. Libertarian party needs to choose a better candidate.

  • we need to get bob barr elected. i have faith in bob barr. he really has changed. obama is a moron when it comes to economics. lets get bob barr elected. obama is a dangerous man. lets vote bob barr. lets stop mccain as well he is worse than obama.

  • I keep hearing ppl bitch about the Patriot act, and I have yet to find an american citizen who has been abused or prosecuted unjustly because of the clauses of the Patriot Act. We do know, that it has prevented further attacks on the US since its inception.

  • 1) Argument from personal incredulity

    2) completely unsupported claim

    Fabulous job. Bravo.

  • We need more politicians who say the government needs to stop interfering with people's lives.

More importantly, we need politicians to put that philosophy into practice.

Remember the words of Ronald Reagan: "Government isn't the solution to our problems; government IS the problem."

  • We elected Bush t olimit the Fed,then he made it bigger than ever. How do we ever trust the gov ever again.Gay marriage was banned at the pols in California but courts over ruled the voters. in 06 we voted to secure the southern border, nothing has been done, except waste money on the issue.

  • Bob Barr isn't a Libertarian.

  • Everybody can change. And no, he's not perfect, but bad mouthing him would be the worst thing you could do for the movement. That is, if you are a libertarian.

But you're wrong; he is a Libertarian, but maybe not a libertarian ;)

  • bob barr has changed and i will vote for me.

  • a vote for bob barr is a vote for yourself! Brilliant!

  • Why don't my comments post under the comments I reply to. arghhhhhhh!!!!

  • he is full of shit...

  • hes never going to win -_-

  • For someone like me debating whether to write in Ron Paul or vote Libertarian, his sincerity is a key concern.

He sounds good, but I ultimately doubt whether or not it is genuine. My thinking is influenced by the fact that I have had a lot of exposure to him, being from the Atlanta area, and I have heard him emphatically defend positions he now repudiates, so I think you should have pushed him more on what caused his change of mind. "After 9/11 I took a hard look," just doesn't do it for me.

  • I understand your concern. Would it help to know that since leaving Congress, he has testified before Congress against key provisions of the Patriot Act. He only voted for it in the first place so that he could insert the sunset clauses into the final version of the bill.

He has also lobbied on behalf of the Marijuana Policy Project.

Actions speak louder than words, and I don't think he would do either of those things if his views had not genuinely changed.

  • That does help. Thanks.

I am also amused by a recent poll that came out regarding the Presidential election in Georgia. Bob Barr may end up being a spoiler for McCain here, throwing our electoral votes in Obama's direction. It would be amusing if that played a part in McCain losing the election.

  • Hey, glad to help. Things would have been so much simpler if Ron Paul were going to be on the ballot this fall. But alas...

As for Barr being a spoiler, he always makes the point when the question is asked him that to call him a spoiler implies that the Republican candidate is automatically entitled to the votes that he (Barr) is going to get. He says he prefers to think of McCain & Obama as potential spoilers for him.

Besides, Nader is in the race on the left, so each side has its "spoiler."

  • Wow, good job getting Bob Barr on the show.
