In my case, i spend money on new accesories for my fal .308 and mauser 7.65, but at least have a personal use, which i hope i never have to use them in something that is not target shooting.

But it makes sense for people who can't own a real gun for whatever reason. i have fired a real gun before, but stingfist is right about the fact that you cant shoot your friend with a real steel. In my opinion, airsoft has real looking guns and gear to get the "thrill" of a battle without having to murder your friends.
