Connect the dots. This may turn out NOT to be true, but it fits the facts.
@Laundis - Yes, it is a musical version. However, from what I understand the film will have more straight dialogue than the Broadway show does. Hugh Jackman is actually a good singer (check out his Youtube performance of Oklahoma on the London stage. Besides acting Russell Crowe is a rock singer. Helena Bonham Carter snagged a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the 2007 musical Sweeney Todd. So yeah they can sing.
@lordbalfor Thanks for the info... I was unaware of that side of the actors. I saw something in a blog that there would be fear in casting Jackie because she would out sing the rest of the cast.
@Laundis - Yeah, I think that fear is unfounded. 1st of all the "young Cosette" role is small - giving Jackie little screen time with only 1 or 2 songs - since the story quickly leaps forward a decade or more (at which point Seyfried plays Cosette), 2ndly, it's never a good idea to disqualify someone because they are "too good" - that just doesn't make good business sense. Of course it COULD be the case that the script is so different from the show as to eliminate the early scenes or songs.
@Laundis - I should add that Les Mis is an EAGERLY awaited film with a HUGE built in fan base. IF Jackie ends up with the role it will be a HUGE boost in her visability and film credentials (which is already getting a big boost because of her role as Redford's daughter). If she gets this role too she'll have cemented her position as a significant film star (Les Mis will get HUGE amounts of press - MUCH more so than "The Company You Keep"). Now we just need to see if this conjecture pans out.

I didn't know who had won the X factor contest so I went to find out. It was Melanie Omaro and for a 5 million dollars contract I figured her last song had to be stupendous. I didn't know who had won the X factor contest so I went to find out. It was Melanie Omaro and for a 5 million dollars contract I figured her last song had to be stupendous. Half way thru the song and listening to her scream to hit the high notes I had to leave and run right back here.. Where the sound of Jackie's voice is what real music sounds like..
