I really like how Obscura amplifies the bass, it really fits in with the songs, it reminds me of Death's "Human" album.

@DrunkernBob There's no bass on Human essentially. We can hear it a little on the reissue finally. You can compare it to individual thought patters, that album has solid fretless bass sound, and that cuts through the sound.

@DrunkernBob Except Death's Human has nearly NO bass at all, because the original mix pretty much mixed Digiorgio out. Even Digiorgio admits he was so pissed off that he threw the CD out of a train when he first heard it. But the remix? Sounds great.

Wow, I must admit this guy is good. Seems like he really knows what he's doing and he put my mind at ease about the future of Obscura. The only flaw I see in his playing is that semi-muted top end click he's getting from the fretless BTB but alas it's a minor gripe.

Jeroen was so great of bass player.He will be hard to replace.Their styles are different.Jeroen was one of a kind bass player.I like what I hear from Linus,so far he has sounded good.Obscura is one of my top 5 bands I follow.The reason I liked them so much was the musicianmanship was far better than other bands especially Jeroen's bass playing.Also Stephen has has a side band called Thulcandra..check them out.It's black/death..very good ya..you check them out.\m/\m/

WHTMbassist he said it was a custom BTB. They don't come fretless so he probably asked for the fretlines. I'm sure you can get a BTB and make it fretless, without fretlines.

The Ashula has always been a bass I have wanted to try out, he made it sound super sweet, so I want to try it even more now. For the BTP, I wish it didnt have painted on fret markings, still a sweet tone.

It's pretty disappointing that Jeroen left, he played the first time I saw Obscura and that bass sound just sliced right through the mix. It was'nt the same last time, it was at the same venue in the same time slot. It just was'nt the same.

We'll see though, I'm sure Obscura well come back to the states soon.
