  • On a lot of tests the 2010 13" MBP kills the new 2011 MBP at games. I play bioshock on mine at max settings and it runs perfect.

  • @scupking I agree, scupking. Its one of the reasons I decided not to upgrade to the 2011 MBP.

  • Hey kadmac i really like u. u are pretty cool and very calm.

im thinking about buying the 2011 MBP wit the intel HD graphics. but i dont know wats best for the gaming - the 2010 or 2011 version?

im like u i dont want to game on high settings. low or medium is fine for me:)

    take care.

  • @RajaJayasinghe Thanks for the compliment, Raja! I would say the 2011 MBP is the better version. The Intel HD and 320M are pretty comparable. The advantage the 2011 version has is the better processor - the core i5. All in all though, if you are looking to save money, I would recommend buying the 2010 version refurbished from Apple's website.

  • @KadMac25 i wish i had your gpu, my cpu is far better than yours so with your gpu i could pwn my 14 fps on splinter cell conviction

  • @RajaJayasinghe Hi thank you for fast reply. I want to buy the 2011 13" model. But do u think it will be able to play Counter strike source?

Also will it be able to play Diablo 3 when its comming out?

  • @RajaJayasinghe Yes, I think it will play both games well. I can't say for sure though for Diablo 3 since its not out yet with the spec requirements. I am betting though that the MBP will be more than capable in playing it. Blizzard is pretty good about making their games playable for many computer setups - it really just comes down to the user settings of the game.

  • @KadMac25 This is so cool. I love this machine. So simple and elegant and still strong inside. Im happy to hear about Blizzard making it possible for many users to play their games. I would love to play some Dia3 wit my 13" MBP hehe. Thanks again. Tc my friend.

  • @RajaJayasinghe Macs aren't for gaming man...If you do buy one for gaming don't expect more than 20fps in most games on lowest settings.

  • @PaGoNdA I half agree with you on that, Pagonda. Macs can definitely game. Check out my other videos on my channel for proof of that. It all depends on what gaming experience you want though. I play most new games on medium settings with an average of 30 fps. I think the issue is that when you think of gaming, you think of playing games maxed out in graphics. If that is the goal then yes, I agree the Mac is not the way to go. PC reigns in that. Both Macs and PCs have their benefits.

  • @PaGoNdA you are totally wrong, I own a mbp 15" and it can play almost anythig maxed out at native resolution, only crysis, crysis 2 and metro can't, but they do run, however, at lower settings very smoothly.

  • @PJMAN2952 have you ever played on a PC? You do know that for the majority of PC games you can use a 360 controller anyway... And hook a PC up to an HDTV with HDMI. Essentially you can build a PC that acts as a 360, with much better graphics. Why does it suck?

  • @psno1994 xbox is easier to play games on BUT pc is OK

  • and xbox 360 is great imo

  • You actually get a pretty decent frame rate for this game on medium! considering these machines are designed for anything but games. Nice video dude

  • Don't get games through Steam if you plan on getting an MBP. It slows them down considerably. It's so bad that even Civilization 5, of all games, is affected even when it's on the lowest rendering settings.

  • i don't think macbooks are the best choices for gaming sence the graphic cards aren't the best and you can get a beast pc for 1000 euro instead of spending more on a macbook and u can't even play this game on very high resolutions >__>

  • @damightyMichoO You're right, Micho. If a buyer's intent is to play games on high or ultra graphic settings, the MacBook Pro is not the laptop for him/her. However, if one is looking for a combination of power and compact size, the MBP is an excellent laptop. For me, I wanted a laptop that would provide OSX, a premium aluminum casing, and be smaller in size. I don't like how gaming laptops look. Playing games on medium fits my needs along with many others.

  • @KadMac25 Better on medium and with all the other features than on high and without any.

  • @damightyMichoO There are very few laptops out there that can play this game on high resolution.

  • so you haven't done any things exept downloading the game and that little laptop can take it? i know crysis is a high graphic game :D

  • were u running this on bootcamp or on the mac os?

  • @LittleTimmy191 Boot Camp with Windows 7 64 bit Home Edition.

  • @KadMac25 thanks

  • @KadMac25 What would be better to play Guild Wars on this laptop, download crossfire games or buy windows7 and use bootcamp?

  • @NeurokineticsGaming I would recommend purchasing Windows 7 and playing through Boot Camp.

  • Crysis looks like SH!T!!!!

  • Shit i don't care. As long as this thing can run TF2 and CSS, then im fuckin happy!

  • @mrsubscribe11

CSS eh? doesnt take much to please some people

  • Wow!!! It can run crysis? :O Pretty insane. Anyone think that it will be able to run shogun 2 total war?

  • LOL at the tree falling on u =D is awesome to see a 256mb graphics card run crysis that smooth =)

  • @keyzin Memory size does not matter at all. The video chip does.

  • @rubenssz Far from it, memory size and speed is very important. It's all about having the right balance of GPU power and Memory size/speed.

  • @frostyfireman No, not at all, a 256MB GPU can be better than a 512MB GPU. The memory does not matter at all, the video processor does.

  • @rubenssz Again, it's about a balance of the two. The HD4870 was made it two variants; one with 1GB of GDDR5 and the other with 512MB of GDDR5, the cards were the same save for the quantity of VRAM. The 1GB variant is 5-20% faster in games without AA and 30-100% faster in games with AA at 8x.

  • @frostyfireman Yes, and a HD 6990 with 512 MB of Ram will be better than any previous Radeon with more memory. What I mean is that you cannot compare video cards based on the memory size. It's like comparing a Intel and a AMD processor. The efficiency per clock changes, so you cannot compare two of them based on the clock, as well as the number of cores. But of course comparing two identical video cards based on the memory is valid. Hope you got it.

  • @rubenssz err, a 6990 with only 512 MB will NOT beat previous radeon cards. It will literally get suffocated above 1440x900 in all but the most texture light games out there.

You are right, you can't compare video cards based off memory ALONE, but memory plays a very strong part of helping a GPU core run at it's greatest efficiency by being fed with enough data.

  • @frostyfireman On top of that you have the memory address limitations to consider. While the OS can handle all the RAM and VRAM you can currently throw at it if it's 64bit, most games are still written in 32bit. Crysis is one of the few games to have a 64bit executable, which lets it use all the RAM you can throw at it. The VRAM is counted with the system memory and the 4GB limitation will kick in faster with 32bit games with a GPU with lots of VRAM.

  • @rubenssz VRAM on high end cards can transfer at 150+GB/s with just a few clock cycles of latency, system memory runs at around 4-8 GB/s with several hundred clock cycles of latency from the GPU. The difference in speed between system memory and VRAM is the same as running applications off the RAM v.s Hard drive.

Try using a modern OS with 64MB of RAM, it will run like freezing molasses. Much like running a large GPU without adequate VRAM.

  • @frostyfireman Of course there's a bottleneck of memory on the GPU! I never said the contrary! What you have to know is that memory is not a direct factor to a video card speed, it has never been. The manufacterers never put less memory than a video card can support, otherwise they'll be throwing money and performance away. What they do is put the minimal required, and leave an option to the consumer to pick a bigger size one.

  • @rubenssz Your contradicting yourself, a Bottleneck will slow down the card to the weakest link and thus the performance of the card DIRECTLY.

With a huge pool of VRAM the bottle neck is the GPU core, so the extra VRAM ain't helping the card push pixels.

With a tiny pool of VRAM the bottleneck is the insuficient memory, so the GPU core could be shrunk and performance wouldn't be affected.

  • @frostyfireman The memory is a bottleneck IF it's under the minimal, cause that's the definition of bottleneck. After the minimal point, the Ram does not affect directly the performance. It's the same for the CPU. The CPU will always be the bottleneck unless it's the minimum required. If you reach the bottleneck, the game will run fine. The video card works differently, it has a range of power that goes from the minimum requirements to the maximum.

  • @rubenssz The biggest bottleneck is the storage device, hence SSD's being so popular due to their amazing performance. The "hard drive" has been the main bottleneck for years. SSD's still are compared to the speed of the rest of the system, but compared to a spinning disk they're a huge improvement. SATA is quite a slow connection too compared to things like PCI-X that the GPU runs through.

  • I'm ognna stick with m11x Alienware. Plays it on higher settings(Not MUCH higher, but better than this), and is waaaaay cheaper.

  • @AraknidVideoTests It definitely seems like a powerful laptop. The 11" screen is just a little too small for me though and I don't really like the look of Alienware computers. That being said, you should have some good gaming experiences with it though.

  • @KadMac25 its a 13'' screen

  • @KadMac25 wtf, alien ware computers look awesome.

  • @aidanrox117 Each to his own.

  • @aidanrox117 I don't really like the look, and correct me if i'm wrong, but it doesn't have a cd drive, a gaming laptop with out a cd drive?

  • @INeedMoreJunk yes, you are correct, but if you want the cd drives you would buy the m15x or m17x , m11x is for on the go gaming and is best for digital distribution, like steam.

  • @aidanrox117 Ah, right, i see.

  • @aidanrox117 I disagree, and the m11x has a terrible processor.

  • @AraknidVideoTests Heh, M11x CPU sucks balls though.

  • @UnrealGlider As long as it can handle some games like Sc2 on medium, i'm good XD. But i'm getting a custom desktop anyway: Cheaper and as if not more powerful.

  • @UnrealGlider an i7 or an i5. i dont think so

  • @AraknidVideoTests i would have got the m15x but its too expensive an aus they overprice it here so im going to get asus g53jw insted

  • @nikoface get a desktop dude. IBUYPOWER is the way to go for a desktop, even a laptop. But why get a gaming LAPTOP? Get a gaming dekstop for half the price and get a chepa laptop to do work ont he go, and you're all set ;D

  • @AraknidVideoTests After looking at IBUYPOWER, a lot of their PC cases look horrible in my opinion. I am not a big fan of the rainbow colored cases. You definitely have a point about the laptop/desktop situation. I thought of doing the same. The only thing that swayed me against it though is the hassle of having to manage your data. Having all your files on one single computer is a lot easier to deal with instead of having to juggle the files between two computers.

  • @KadMac25 Yes, I get you. Well I personally don't have so much data (I'm still a senior), so I can keep all my word and browsing data on the laptop and do more advanced stuff on the desktop like photo editing and video editing. But the thing is I know that the laptop will be useless for me: It will stay on my desk 97% of the time.

  • @AraknidVideoTests actually your wrong there a laptop with the same specs as a desktop has only around 300 dollars difference i want something a can move around not something planted to a desktop laptop technology is very close to most desktops these days

  • @nikoface 300 dollars is a difference some people cannot afford. I personally don't need to move my PC around, and I need as much power as I can get for the littlest price. Besides, I already have a laptop that I can do my everyday brwosing+work with, so I'm not going to spend 300 extra dollars for something that's going to stay on my desk anyway, and might overheat.

  • @AraknidVideoTests I paid 600 us dollars on my macbook white 2010, all I did was wait until someone was in need to sell urgently. Really, I really feel sorry for those that do not know how better OS X is than Windows.

  • lmao..playing with the lowest possible settings doesn't mean anything.

  • I highly doubt you are playing this game with the same settings on a Pentium 4.

  • @KadMac25 my old pc which has a pentium 4 3ghz + ati radeon x1650 pro (4 years old now) with windows xp runs crysis great too on same settings.

  • @Mart1n8891 Cool.

  • lol thats how i has to play on my old dell p4 when the game came out..

  • thats pretty good, seeing that this is a 13 INCH laptop, perfect for portable gaming, the 15 and 17 inch do have increadibly powerful graphics cards also, but for a 13 inch pc this is not bad at all

  • Hey guys I need your help. Which graphics card is stronger? ATI Radeon HD 2400 or the 320m that comes with this Macbook Pro?

  • @UntouchableEX I'd say the 320m.

  • Can i get the same video setting on my HP Pavilion dv7 ? Intel I5 , 4GB RAM , Nvidia 320M 1GB ?

  • @supercrazy55555 I would think so with even better settings than with what I have.

  • @KadMac25 mine lags , i tried it yesterday and in lagged at 1600 x 900 and all at medium if I drop the resolution , it looks like crap

  • @supercrazy55555 Sorry, I didn't realize that your HP laptop had a 1600 x 900 native resolution. They will certainly make a difference in that the MBP has a 1280 x 800 native resolution. So even though you have a better processor than what I am using, you have much higher resolution. Sorry it didn't work out. :(

  • @KadMac25 Gonna try at 1360 x 768 with all medium maybe it will work

  • @KadMac25 oh and the processor is allmost the same (only the name is different) i also got 2 cores at 2.40 GHz each

so , i guess the resolution is the problem

  • @KadMac25

i think the native res for Air is 1440*900, im i wrong?

  • @supercrazy55555 Lower the resolution to 1024 x 768 or 1280 by 800. Something. Just play around with the resolutions.

  • Do you reckon this can run operation flashpoint 2?

  • Ahahahha!! I could never drive the vehicles in this game!! You running into that rock brought back memories. Great demo man!! It makes me happy the mac seems to be making small strides in the gaming dept. That's really the only reason I've never owned one.

  • @ckirkwood13 Thanks. Yep, Apple is slowing moving in the gaming direction more so now than before. I agree though, it still has a way to go.

  • @ckirkwood13 watching this made me install crysis again lol

  • I still havent bought it yet !! Im Still debating !! Cuz the 13" is more posrtable and if u up it to 8 g of ram !! I think ull be fyne !!

  • @Digital18Devil

if you want speed than get the 15inch. you could put a extra 64GB of ram in and you would barely notice a difference for most task and games (especially if you were running 32bit). the larger hardrive is a much better investment. (or save the money from only using only 4GB of RAM, so when the next MBP 13 comes out you can sell yours and buy the new one) macs have surprisingly good resale value.

  • I was gonna order the 13 inch but i found the 15" re- furbished i5 for 1500 !!!!!! I came up

  • @Digital18Devil Nice! Let me know how you like the 15" with i5.

  • This is a great laptop. Not many laptops in this class can play games. You usually have to go up to 14"-15" laptop. For this reason I went out and bought the MBP 1199 today to replace my Dell XPS M1210. I'm going to install Windows 7 with bootcamp so I can play some of the windows games like silent hunter 3.

  • how come my hp (has gt 320m)... can't play even on medium smoothly..?? :(

  • @spartafxrs5

Macbooks and macbook pros have geforce 320m's, not GT 320m, they're different cards...

  • @vipirius123 ohh... sorry bout that.... but, can u help me with my problem?? i'm really dying to play crysis smoothly with good graphics... on medium at least :P

  • Com on for that comp pushing out a smooth game ..give me a break !!! It sold me ..im getting the 1199.00 macbook pro ..and just max out ram 8gb ..the processots are not much of a huge difference unless you push up to quad cores ....this is a great demo

  • @Digital18Devil Thanks. Let me know how you like your mac when you get it.

  • i don't mean to offend you, but if your playing crisis on medium theres no point playing crisis IMO, the games strongpoint is graphics, not so much gameplay for most players. So playing it on a bad res with medium graphics isnt so good

  • @RaageQuit No offense taken.

  • @RaageQuit

He could just put a few useless settings to low, and put the shaders to high. Shaders pretty much make everything look good. .

  • Wow, smooth gameplay! I have the 2009 Macbook Pro 13" with 2.53GHz and the older 9200M. I have to turn some settings on low :D

  • I'm very impressed. Wow!

  • wow, these laptops are impressive, for having integrated graphics,

  • Turn shadows to low and your game will run so much faster and smoother at high quality!

  • @AnthraxBE Shaders, shadows do have a big impact in crysis but if you put the shaders to low, the game will run super fast even at high settings

  • Windows 7 64 bit or 32 bit?

So far I cannt get anything to run on Windos 7 64 bit.

  • @dinnerandashow I was using Windows 7 64 bit.

  • @KadMac25

My bootcamp disk for 320m only installs a "standard vga graphics adapter".

Where diid you get a 320m driver?

  • @dinnerandashow I got all of my drivers through Apple. Used the Apple CD that came with your mac and install the drivers for the Windows side of things. If you let windows do the automatic updates with the drivers, you won't get the most effective ones with your hardware.

  • What are the settings?

    Did you overclock it?

And how many Frames per second?

  • @JSPumpkinKing All settings were at medium from what I remember. No, I didn't overclock. I don't know the exact FPS.

  • @KadMac25

I see then. Well thanks anyway, at least I know some Info about it, since I'm going to get the New MacBook Pro.

  • @JSPumpkinKing

I believe it's 20FPS, nice vid. I have posted a Vid with this info though.

  • @legendp2011

    Gee, thanks.

That gives me enough Info before I purchase my new MacBook Pro.

  • How well would it perform on the Mac OS X operating system with crossover o.0

  • @CornerSquid Not well at all.

  • Uh. Huh? Wha!? Okok, 4GB of ram, quad CPU @ 2.4GHz, 9400gt w/ 1.7 GB of VRAM, and it's only BARELY faster! Same reso, and... Alot of it is on low, alot on medium, some on high and very high... all on high it's slow, all very high slow as shit, all on medium, I haven't really tried... BUT WHY IS MY COMPUTER LIKE THIS?! It's only slightly faster than a LAPTOP

  • @thesniper1191 Video card. The 9400GT is bad. Upgrade to something like a GTS250 or GTX460 and shit bricks.

  • This game sucks!

Its basically only used for bench marking.

  • Im having some troubles playing this game, I'm running windows 7 on my mac ( the same one that you have) but I keep getting this message:

    Unsoported video card!

Standard VGA Graphics Adapter [vendor = 0x10de, device =0x08a0]

Continuing to run might lead to unexpected results or crashes

  • @TheFerdiman12 Are you trying to play it on an external monitor? Are you using Apples drivers for the hardware?

  • i have the same macbook pro 13 inch, I install windows 7 on it and also install Crysis Warhead but every time I try to play it , I got the message that the video card does't support the game, i've tried downloading updates to the software but no luck yet. any ideas?

  • @TheFerdiman12 I haven't tried Warhead, this is just the first Crysis game.

  • @TheFerdiman12 try running the .exe in compatibility mode for xp/vista

  • @TheFerdiman12 You need to update your video card drivers.

  • @TheFerdiman12 Warhead should def. work cuz it runs better than the first! Did you put in the DVD(the OS one) that came with your mac after you installed WIndows? It has all the drivers!

  • @bonisboy if you want a lap for games, I wouldn't recommend a mac book , buy some gaming laptop like alienware instead...

You may even save enough money to buy extra stuff like a gaming mouse and your gaming experience will be much much better than with a mac...

Macs can handle most games pretty well, but they aren't gaming laptops.

  • @Rubysh88 alienware 1 hr battery?

    mac book 6,7,8 battery ?

    alienware more expensive?

    no get the mac book!

aienware m11x sux low graphics card.

lame battery but is 100 dollars cheaper than a macbook.

    but still get the macbook

  • @gamecreaterdude13 The M11X has a better GPU then ANY of Apples laptops, it has the 335M, The Macbook Pro 13" has the 320M and the 15 and 17" have the 330M.

It's the CPU's that are rubbish and low powered in the M11X. They are all slow low voltage models. Any Mac laptop can crush it on this front.

  • @marksapollo

The Macbook Pro 13 still uses the old Intel Core 2 Duo.

  • @dinnerandashow It's still more powerful then the M11X.

  • @marksapollo

I guessing you are less then 6 years old.

    335m >> 320m

    i7 >> core 2 duo

  • @dinnerandashow hahaha NO! Erm it's a 330M GT, get your facts right, oh and:

    i7 640um 1.2ghz <<< Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz!!, i5 520um 1.06ghz <<< Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz

    or Alienware sell: Dual core ULV SU4100 1.30ghz <<< Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo SU7300 1.3ghz ,,, Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz

  • @marksapollo

    Can you read?

Focus ! try, I understand you have adhd.

We are talking abouy 13". Don't pretend you didn't see the writing on the wall.

So either you have problems with readin comprehension or you are a idiot.

The i7 at turbo is faster then a old cor 2 duo at 2.5.

The 335m is still faster then a 330m.

Sigh... no fool like a proud fool.

  • @dinnerandashow

Yeah right. 335m is way faster than a 320m. and a core i7 2.66 Ghz is a lot faster than a 3.2ghz core 2 duo. the reason apple used the core 2 duo is because it is more power efficient (however a 2.4Ghz core 2 duo is still faster than the m11x 1.3ghz i7)

  • @legendp2011

    Are you retarded?

You basically restated what I said.

  • Comment removed

  • @dinnerandashow

calm down i didn't see your comment. And you mentioned nothing about the core 2 duo power saving feature. (don't know why people get so upset). sorry if i did restate part of what you said.

  • @legendp2011

LOL, you replied to my comment.

I recommend thinking before being so very reactionary.

  • @marksapollo and don't forget that hinge problem on the m11x !

  • would you recomend this version of macbook for regular gaming???? (like the games in your videos)

  • @rdelao1287 Sure. i think my current MacBook Pro 13" handles games pretty decently.

  • What are some fun games that run really smooth and look beautiful for this macbook? I'm picking one up in 2 days. I have an xbox for my competitive shooter games. Any good games purely for fun, maybe good stories or E games?

  • @ProdigyKimXP The Orange Box includes TF2 and Portal, and I believe those both work on OS X. They're both pretty fun games.

  • can this mac handle HON on highest setting whitour lag??

No one with mac have ever let me know :S

  • hahahahah!..ha!

  • i have 9600m GT 512 mb

    will it run whitouth lag

and telll me plz if i can run ps2 and wii emulator

i have 2GB of ram but i can ugrpade it

    THANKS !

  • @zawette up grade dat rame and u will rape crysis. nice card man. i ed got a 9300 512 and i played crysis at mid with about 20 fps and 4 gigs, urs is better

  • @Tulanirebe shut up man with shaders shwadows and water off THE GAME REALLY SUCKS...

  • why u don't try with settings on medium and shaders and shadows and water on high!!! I REALLY WANNA SEE THE PERFORMANCE WITH TAHT SPECS... D:

  • what does 320m mean?

  • @TheObeseMermaid Its the name of the graphics processor within the MacBook Pro.

  • @bonisboy If you are planning on getting one in 2 months, then you might as well just wait for the next refresh. The next macbook pro 13" refresh will have the core i3 cpu just like the new iMacs. It will be released in Oct-Nov 2010.

  • @bonisboy Yes, its reliable but you need to know that if you are going to game with it, you will be having medium settings for most games. If you can accept that, then you should be in good shape. I use the low end 13 inch for all my videos you see in my channel. For most games, it handles things great.

  • When the graphics are on HIGH, can you play it ,too ?

  • @TheCoolPP I tried it with higher settings and the game really started to lag for me. So, unless you are willing to deal with much lower FPS, I am afraid not.

  • The 320M had potential, but without dedicated VRAM, it's severely held back.

  • Do all games run as smooth if i were to use crossover? I have the same system

  • @portorarower93 No. I believe you will experience some serious lag if you try to game with crossover.

  • Can someone explain why crysis is such a big deal?..(N00b :P)

  • @TastyCake001... It's a game used as a benchmark for hardware. If the hardware could handle Crysis in High Settings and have it look good, then that means that the hardware being used is pretty good. There are desktops & laptops being used now that could barely handle Crysis Warhead, let alone the original Crysis that came out in 2007 under High Settings. In other words some of the hardware being released now is barely catching up to the High Settings requirements of the game.

  • Was amazed to see it run crysis is those graphics (even if crysis should always be played in full to show it's awesomeness) :P was kinda hopeing for a phisics test there ;)

  • so do it slow down your computer and is it anygood at video editing?

  • Hey i was wondering if u were running boot camp? because im getting a mac but i heard that steam is now mac user friendly

  • @CKY2SK Yep, I was running Boot Camp. Steam is nice on a Mac, but there are still a lot of games out there only for Windows. I am looking forward to seeing what other games Steam brings over to the Mac side.

  • @KadMac25 can you explain what steam is to me?

  • @blyons1555 Steam is an online retailer/developer who sells game via direct download. They have a wide range of games for the PC side of things, but they recently started developing for Mac. Google "steam" and it will be the first listing.

  • @KadMac25 wow thats a really cool website its like a gamestop lol but it sells basically all console games i have a ps3 so ill still buy my games on ps3 rather then steam on my computer but still it has alot of older games that still are awesome

  • @CKY2SK Yep !! there is now officially steam for mac =] !

  • @army5517 this hard ware is the top of the line for the money your spending

  • Have you used a cooler? Is it possible? My bros MBP is warm alot and hes afraid to use his old cooler for a laptop cause he thinks it might cause damage to the system?
