@Vancbenson typing "Samsung and LG are craps" on a Sony Video Page, while not replying or commenting to anything related to Samsung or LG? STOP TROLLING fag. Have you even seen LG's TVs @ CES? The OLED TV is crazzzzzzy. I mean Sony's Crystal LED is nice as hell, but the LG OLED has over 8 million OLED pixels and have infinite contrast ratio. Go home!!
Sony used to be decent brand but I would never consider it again after buying one of their laptops. Poor quality product and dreadful customer service . Also based on experience of a family member buying a Bravia the next tv I will buy will be a Samsung.
Sony TV quality is great, but their design has held them back for years. I bought a Bravia in 2007 and their new TVs don't look any better, they haven't even changed at all in 5 years!
Apple has shown that style consistently wins out over substance, and Sony just isn't giving itself a good showing with these bulky machines that look like something from a Science Fiction 80s movie!
Sony already has a 2 year old, 11" OLED display, XEL-1. Manufacturers/vendors are working on larger sets, but dont expect to purchase an OLED screen for less than £8-10k given, that the XEL-1 when first announced had a market value of £2-3k but is now around £1k.
sony already did OLED in 2007...sony has true colors, samsung and lg only have super bright eye sore colors to try and compensate for a weaker image, fooling ignorant consumers with "bright colors"
I use to love sony so much,,, They have gone downhill so fast. My sony t.v has been repaired twice,, My blueray disk player broke after 14 months and my 400 disk dvd has been repaired 3 times. I still have my sony reel to reel old sony tape decks dat player all work fine. Good by sony... hello denon and L.G.
I can't wait to see a Quad HD version of this, with a Six-Color (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Violet + White) Raster/Vector display method, as well as an Anti-Reflective finger-print proof cover and a Multi-Sweet-Spot Crosshatched Parallax Barrier (but without reducing the resolution). And if it were 24 Inches, with Multi-Touch, and with White LEDs behind it (for various reasons), I would get as many as I possibly could.
But this will have to do until then. Great work, Sony!
1) What is the estimated price point compared to LED-backlit LCDs, and how will the price likely scale with size and resolution?
2) At what screen dimensions does the current level of LED density require downscaling to 1280x720 in order to still fit all the pixels? Or, put another way, what is the smallest 1920x1080 set you can make with this technology?
So this is a true LED tv in other words...? Wel it looks great and im just hoping the pricing wil be something regular people can afford...OLED may be better but the price wil probably be insane the first year or more...thx for the vid!
@METALsyndr0me Happy to help clarify. Since this is a concept model on display with new display technology research, it's not something that is announced for sale. More of "what's in the labs" so there isn't pricing but definitely send your feedback. We'll pass it along! Thanks for posting.
@sonyelectronics Awesome, something to finally supersede the Sony Bravia XBR HX929's would be quite impressive. I'm also quite certain that the Sony Bravia XBR HX929 series offered Gorilla Glass, if I'm not mistaken. Will this new gen. be offering Gorilla Glass 2, seen also at CES 2012?

I've waited for a truly great 1080P Sony TV for sooooo long.
With uneven/blotchy back-lighting their LCDs have yet to do Sony's superior video processing justice.
Could this be what I've been hoping for?

Is the Contrast Ratio still as good, or better then with the Back-lit LED Technology.
Qwertyman1999 1 month ago
@Qwertyman1999 The contrast is even better. It's is approximately 3.5 times higher than the existing best-in-class Sony BRAVIA LCD HDTVs.
