  • I'm sold!! Good job!! What guage of strings are you using? Have you tuned down E to E? Just curious how it sounds as a Bass VI E to E

  • @rcboals : it's still the stock strings, I don't know the gauge; it is tuned B to B

  • play sad but true!!!

  • who gives a fuck about meshugga ive never even heard of those clowns.

  • Awesome sound and playing ,want to hear more.

  • Would you mind sharing where you bought it?

    Been looking for a while..

  • @Gorpisnorb : I'm afraid it won't help you, have it for five years now

  • Where on earth did you find a LONGHORN baritone danny?

Ive been looking around online picking up clues like Nancy Drew with no luck.

What is the lowest string tuned to here A?

  • @Gorpisnorb : A or B - here it was B I think, but it can be tuned down to A

  • play sad but true

  • Great playing. Sounds like it would be awesome for evil sounding surf riffs :)

  • I WANTTT ONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Looks like an insect's head.

  • the longhorn Dano..ugly?what???I love them!!great sounding guitar!!

  • i've always wanted one.....because i love the look of it.

    ...eye of the beholder

  • Sound is awesome, but I don't like the look of it. Seriously awesome though.

  • @realdocloco I have much to learn

  • Totally not what I expected from this guitar, i though it was about to be some Meshuggah type riffage... but what should I be expecting from a guy wearing a yellow turtleneck...

  • @CleverNameHere81 : Baritones are around since the fifties, and those Danelectros were amongst the first of the bunch - and were used for country, rockabilly and movie soundtracks. You must be quite young if you think Meshuggah about a Dano baritone (but no harm) ;-)

  • @realdocloco i agree what you said. if one sees a black guitar, and thinks meshuggah, he's gotta be young. and judges by sight quite easily. no harm.

  • @realdocloco Forget the Meshuggah/Dano confusion, he doesn't even know the difference between a turtleneck and a button-down shirt!

  • @CleverNameHere81 What an arsehole!

  • @micthetic Lol, i'm surprised I'm getting a reply from that comment at this point.

  • @micthetic Lol, I'm just surprised I'm getting a reply from that comment at this point.

  • i like that main riff

  • badass!

  • Ugliest. Guitar. Ever.

  • The guitar always reminds me of a walrus for some reason :)

  • @GetoutofMyYard1 Reminds me of a really angry cow

  • this guitar is so ugly but the sound is kickass!

  • That is an interesting looking guitar! Great playing and tone combo!

  • great sound!

  • this thing is awesome but its just so damn ugly

  • i think all models of danelectro's are great, except this one.

  • Fuckin' cool man!

  • as far as twang goes, danelectro takes the gold. even above tele's. but i just don't like the feel of them. they're sweet tho!

  • I wonder how playing meshuggah on one of those would sound

  • @DestroyinatorFurAlle odd considering they play 7 and 8-string guitars with humbuckers rather than single coils lol provided you could improvise a tuning to allow 8-string style riffs to be played on a 6-string, you could really fool some audiences though. that'd be amazing!

  • This sounds exactly like the longhorn bass does but well... more guitarish. Which is a good thing, the twang of the bass is awesome.

  • That music has a power over 90000

  • go fuck yourself. This music is awesome.

  • Brilliant construction: a cutaway that deep gise you access to a full baritone scale without an annoyingly long and uncomfortable neck.

  • That bit you start playing at 26 seconds, is there any chords or sheet music on that, or was it all improv? It'd be perfect for something of mine, and I was wondering if I could get some info on it.

    Thanks.

  • super sound

  • What have you tuned it to? G? A?

  • it's B...

  • aweosme guitar how is the neck on it?thanks

  • Effing beautiful. Hat's off to you, definitely

  • I love it. Link Wray would be proud.

  • Man when you take twang down an octave it really makes it sound heavy! I love it. Hows it sound with a bit of overdrive?

  • sounds like the intro for a huge logger/surfer that uses redwoods for boards

  • amazing!

  • what a fucking heavy sound

  • Tried this un' out today. Gotta say that it plays awesome. I'm buying it as soon as I can spare the money.

  • hah! nice ending...do they still sell this baritone???

    where can i buy one?

  • They just recently announced a re release of the longhorn bass, but not the guitar. You can check the website.

  • danguitar(s).com

  • That's so intense. I love it!

  • what's the typical tuning for one of these?

  • A or B

  • B E A D F# b?

  • ive got this in gold

how dare u say its ugly,

    ITS THE SEX

    its an amzin guitar :)

  • the guitar is quite excentric , but the sound is great

  • Hey the guitar is quite ugly, but the sound is incredible, whats your setting?? How much did cost that guitar? :D Iam going to buy new one....have only crate strat.

  • this...guitar...is AS UGLY AS POSSIBLE!

    wait a secound...i've to barf... : (===@

  • nice little jig

  • there has never been a bigger gap between how ugly a guitar is and how good it sounds

  • SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET.

  • Kick ass!

  • yeeeeaah

  • awsome, sounds like a b-52s song.

  • Hehe - I love the B-52's twang indeed!

  • Not bad..I love it!!!

  • pretty sweet sound.

  • Come on guys, the riff's not that hard. Watch his fingers! This is one awesome sounding guitar

  • Not hard at all - but good sounding on the baritone indeed. Sometimes it's the simplest things that sound best :-)

  • this is pretty good but personally i don't like the look of the guitar!

  • GREAT!

I love the fact that you do something that sounds different and brillant.

By the way, where's that riff from?

    You got taste my friend!

  • It's a riff I quickly wrote for this demo (since then, it founds its place into a whole song).

  • Where is the song!? :)

  • Well ... don't you know the Dano guitarlin exist since the fifties? It was played by Link Wray back then, you should easily found a picture or a recording. Btw I didn't know there is a segregation between guitar- and bassplayers...

  • that's kinda funny that you mention segregation between guitar and bass players, because last time I checked, the rage now is 7strings, with a bass string on top.

Anyways I loved the video =) Danelectro baritones sound great.

  • actually its not a bass or even close, I'm pretty sure this has a 27 inch scale. Even a short scale bass is 30 inches. on top of that, this is just going into high bass territory just like a bass could only get into low guitar territory. Shouldn't you be bitching about piano players having too many keys or hands or some other junk.

  • This guy is a bass player who is sick of guitarist that think that they are good enuf to hold it down on the LOW end...I know several of these guitar dudes that think this way, and their playing on the bass is just mediocre at best...

  • You can say that the guitar it's ugly but its not

And there are not many of this so its just a very cool guitar

Its a Danelectro Longhorn and the oldest one is from the late 50's

And you can say a lot but this guitar has &&&%^@##@#$%^&*(*&^%$# nice sound!

  • what a ugly guitar ^.^

    so what, sounds great!

  • i really like the riff beagining at

00:17-00:22 sounds so cool.. can u give me the notes?? i will pay

  • I play a Shecter Hellcat baritone, is the Dane version setting tuned B to B? or is it like the Hellcat that is a full octave lower than a standard guitar? (if you have the right gadgets you can drop it up to 4 octaves lower than a standard guitar too (sounds awesome with an ebow as well)

  • It's tuned B to B (you can also tune it A to A).

  • I agree. When was it made?

  • I've seen Link Wray with a Dano Baritone in that famous picture. Ha, Dano's sound nice.. Savage!

  • How do you get a guitar twng?

  • great sound!!

  • R O C K I N G ! ! !

    Amazingly good.

  • I am confused this guitar or a Fender Stratocaster Upgrade?

both have single coil pick-ups and yeah.

  • and why?

  • I wish I was that cool

  • what are you playing ? where i can find the tab ?

  • shut up

  • traditional written music is obsolete. the only real advantage is that it denotes the length of each note, which is no longer relevant when you can just listen to a recording of any song. it's an unnecessary bullshit step that only snobby formally trained musicians use any more. for the beginner, it makes about as much sense as learning a foreign language in order to drive a car.

  • I agree with your disdain for snobby musicians, but sheet music isn't obsolete- for pianists, cellist, trombonists, and basically every non-fretted string instrumentalist, it's easiest to read sheet music.

  • but still there should be some kind of new standard that beginner and pro alike can use easily. maybe something that uses letters for notes(instead of abstract characters that the beginner is not already familiar with),or whatever. i'm hardly qualified to invent such a system. but if you want to convey an idea to the public you should do so in a way that's readily accessible to the public. sheet music, seems to be the exact opposite of that, a middleman separating the subject from the object.

  • I can't argue with you there, a new system would be nice- I agree

  • until a better universal system has been created, which it hasnt, the one we have isnt obsolete. i dont see what your whining about, its not that hard to learn sheet music at all.

  • maybe not for you. but you cant just assume that what works best for you is the best method of learning and that everyone should conform to it because it works for you. further more i was hardly whining, someone stated that tabs suck, and i rebutted their statement. and i wasnt really arguing that it was too hard, just somewhat redundant and longer route to the act of playing a song which is not nearly as daunting as sheet music makes it look.

  • I believe that i said universal system. Try making a tab for a piano. Try to read what i actually said before you make a reply to it. PS furthermore is one word

  • the easiest way for me is tabs, but if ur playing piano it's a different thing.

  • then sheet music isnt obsolete. That proves my point.

  • the irony of this being that you're saying everyone should conform to reading tabs because sheet music is 'obsolete'

  • lol @ maisquisuije..."shut up" best reply ever

  • dude may i have the tabs?

  • Dang, sounds cool. I got the chance to pick a little on a longhorn bass. The longhorns (in my opinion) are a bit ugly, but they sound so good! Guitar and bass!

  • Ugly? I say unique! For a supposedly cheap(?) guitar, they sound great!

  • dude that was awesome your right hand posture is allitle weird though

  • Yup, that's the main problem with the longhorn shape, the right hand is pulled back if you compare with other guitars - not very comfortable.

  • Isn't it made out of plywood?

  • They call it "masonite" but you can call it plywood. Still, it sounds very good and is stronger than you may expect - so I have no problem with that :-D

  • haha dunt prince have a purple one??? (sounds really bad that) im sure `the TWANG` would be happy

  • no his aint a baritone . its simialr to that shape tho.

  • it sounds like a baritone to me...

  • cool, i nearly had one those before, wats it like with distortion i wonder

  • the guitarist from system of a down uses a baritone on some of their older stuff, if that answers your question somewhat.

  • nice!!! sounded good i've got a olp baritone tuned in D an a octaf lower then regulair tuning

it sounds like a beast from hell I love It

  • nice!

  • That Was Excellent. I have 2 Danelectro Baritones and They are awesome guitars.

    Thanks for posting

  • Nice tune. Very Link Wray-esque!

  • Link Wray ... you couldn't tell something sweeter to me!

  • hell yeah

  • TWANG !

  • yee ha
