Totally not what I expected from this guitar, i though it was about to be some Meshuggah type riffage... but what should I be expecting from a guy wearing a yellow turtleneck...
@CleverNameHere81 : Baritones are around since the fifties, and those Danelectros were amongst the first of the bunch - and were used for country, rockabilly and movie soundtracks. You must be quite young if you think Meshuggah about a Dano baritone (but no harm) ;-)
@DestroyinatorFurAlle odd considering they play 7 and 8-string guitars with humbuckers rather than single coils lol provided you could improvise a tuning to allow 8-string style riffs to be played on a 6-string, you could really fool some audiences though. that'd be amazing!
That bit you start playing at 26 seconds, is there any chords or sheet music on that, or was it all improv? It'd be perfect for something of mine, and I was wondering if I could get some info on it.
Hey the guitar is quite ugly, but the sound is incredible, whats your setting?? How much did cost that guitar? :D Iam going to buy new one....have only crate strat.

k this is the dumbest idea ive heard fuckin i dont even knowed k its a bass right then they make it into a guitar !!!RETARD!!! its a bass dont make it a guitar then a guitarist just thinks he can do both!!!
Well ... don't you know the Dano guitarlin exist since the fifties? It was played by Link Wray back then, you should easily found a picture or a recording. Btw I didn't know there is a segregation between guitar- and bassplayers...
that's kinda funny that you mention segregation between guitar and bass players, because last time I checked, the rage now is 7strings, with a bass string on top.
Anyways I loved the video =) Danelectro baritones sound great.
actually its not a bass or even close, I'm pretty sure this has a 27 inch scale. Even a short scale bass is 30 inches. on top of that, this is just going into high bass territory just like a bass could only get into low guitar territory. Shouldn't you be bitching about piano players having too many keys or hands or some other junk.
This guy is a bass player who is sick of guitarist that think that they are good enuf to hold it down on the LOW end...I know several of these guitar dudes that think this way, and their playing on the bass is just mediocre at best...
I play a Shecter Hellcat baritone, is the Dane version setting tuned B to B? or is it like the Hellcat that is a full octave lower than a standard guitar? (if you have the right gadgets you can drop it up to 4 octaves lower than a standard guitar too (sounds awesome with an ebow as well)
traditional written music is obsolete. the only real advantage is that it denotes the length of each note, which is no longer relevant when you can just listen to a recording of any song. it's an unnecessary bullshit step that only snobby formally trained musicians use any more. for the beginner, it makes about as much sense as learning a foreign language in order to drive a car.
I agree with your disdain for snobby musicians, but sheet music isn't obsolete- for pianists, cellist, trombonists, and basically every non-fretted string instrumentalist, it's easiest to read sheet music.
but still there should be some kind of new standard that beginner and pro alike can use easily. maybe something that uses letters for notes(instead of abstract characters that the beginner is not already familiar with),or whatever. i'm hardly qualified to invent such a system. but if you want to convey an idea to the public you should do so in a way that's readily accessible to the public. sheet music, seems to be the exact opposite of that, a middleman separating the subject from the object.
until a better universal system has been created, which it hasnt, the one we have isnt obsolete. i dont see what your whining about, its not that hard to learn sheet music at all.
maybe not for you. but you cant just assume that what works best for you is the best method of learning and that everyone should conform to it because it works for you. further more i was hardly whining, someone stated that tabs suck, and i rebutted their statement. and i wasnt really arguing that it was too hard, just somewhat redundant and longer route to the act of playing a song which is not nearly as daunting as sheet music makes it look.
I believe that i said universal system. Try making a tab for a piano. Try to read what i actually said before you make a reply to it. PS furthermore is one word
Dang, sounds cool. I got the chance to pick a little on a longhorn bass. The longhorns (in my opinion) are a bit ugly, but they sound so good! Guitar and bass!
