I have been shooting since I was 7, so almost 20 years now, to this day with all the exp and training I have I do not carry a gun when I first buy it. I dont carry it untill I have trained with it for at least 2 month, training is not only range shooting, I make it a point to do a complete strip of the gun after my gunsmith shows me how of course, untill I know how everything works together, then I practice untill I have a minimum of a 3 inch grouping every time. then I will carry it.
It drives me nuts how people think they can possibly know how any given scenario will play itself out. They think that they can know (with specificity) what they will do when the bad guys show up. It's one thing to go over these different scenarios in your own mind to figure out what you MIGHT do, but to think you can disseminate advice to your viewers is just irresponsible, in my opinion. You made some good points, and I understand your intentions, but each scenario is different, just my opinion
@whiteboypatrickkelly I know in my state the CCW endorsement comes up in MULES (computer) when the officer runs your drivers license. I'm sure the officer would be a lot more cautious when coming back to your vehicle knowing that you could be concealing a weapon and didn't tell him about it.
I've been kind of promoting CCW when I talk to people, but I'd never want to show anybody where I carry a gun when I have one. Kinda defeats the point of CCW. Usually when I talk about it, I try to only do it when I'm NOT carrying, that way when they ask, I say, "oh, I don't have it now" which most people find more relaxing.
I'm not sure that I agree with the example, though, if they're close enough to carpool, they probably would've found out anyway.
I carry a weapon when reason permits, ie...fishing late at night, hunting, walking my dog in the woods, etc. Years ago, a Scranton restaurant owner was shot with his own gun in the alley behind his business. "Guns are meant to be heard- not seen."
I'm getting my permit in the next month or so and I appreciate you posting the video. it was very helpful. I have a question. what do you think about open carry where it's legal?
Well I was told if was to ever come to that type of situation, hand them your driving and CCW license before you ever declare you have a firearm on your person, because their trained to react to "gun/weapon" regardless if it's a threat or not.... The point being, give them the peace of mind first, I mean that's common sense, 4get what the books say IMO...
I love all of these shooting scenarios (they are really fantasies) which the CCW community develops....you are always the hero saving mankind, lol. Why do your shooting fantasies never involve a guy popping you off before you even have a chance to think about drawing your weapon? In any case, all of your "scenarios" (fantasies) are statistically remote no matter what you hear on the news or read on the internet
Lol I know Chucka you are right man. All of these "scenarios" are like some action movie playing out.
The line that gets me the most is "I'm going to have to be willing to take Fire upon myself. To take this guy out".
In the real world if this weird situation ever magically happened and you took even 1 bullet. I guarantee you wouldn't be returning fire after that point.
Good video, but speaking on many situations I've been in, if the police don't ask you if there's weapons in the car, don't advertise it to them... Been pulled over plenty and only asked once, no need to put it out the there like you said, "Make it smooth" & "Keep ya mouth shut". Especially when you have some place to be and trying to get there at a decent time.
@theRealFaceCap1 During my CCL training, the instructor said if you're pulled over, always declare to the officer that you have a concealed carry and ask the officer how to proceed. Is that not so?
In a lot of states you cannot use force to defend yourself over money or possessions. As you stated, if they start shooting people, yes you may have the right but if your state doesn't have a castle doctrine, you can still get sewed by the surviving family or the perp, even if its a justified shooting. Obviously and unjustified shooting you would have criminal and civil legal action taken. The way we tell people, you need to be a RELUCTANT PARTICIPANT, do NOT become the aggressor. All the best!
@humans4targets2 Are concealed carriers allowed to carry a load firearm? And if yes, with a round chambered or not chambered? And are you allowed to carry extra magazines/ speed loaders?
@SamuelSavage777 Ca, may be a lot of things but they haven't banned bullets yet.. If you obtain a ccw than yes you can carry open or concealed in the state of California. And yes you can and hopefully do carry a loaded firearm. Obviously there are some other state regulations but as pertaining to your general topic, so there you go. Hopefully that helps.
@broughtback2life Im from NC. here, its not illegal to print even though its not recommended. i think here its illegal to carry in a movie theater because you have to pay admition to enter in the theater. the mall is ok
If pulled over by a police officer, would it be a good idea just to hand the driver's license and CCW permit without immediately saying that you have a CCW permit and gun? Just wondering. I haven't been pulled over since I got my CCW, but I was wondering if just keeping quiet until the cop looks at the CCW permit and asks "Do you have your gun on you now?" would be more serene than stating it upfront. What are your thoughts?
@JeepDragon0 If he doesnt ask right away or before he leaves the first time, id bring it up. Just say "sir, not sure of procedure, but i have a CCW permit, and one on my hip if youd like to inspect/run it. Again, not sure how it works, but its not like im not gonna tell you"
All honesty Bro. every scenario that ur talking about has a very blatant answer! and ur answering all of them in the correct manor however what u should tell these people that ask these questions is "not trying to be an A-hole but if you dont already know the answer to that qustion then you probably shouldnt be carrying a gun what so-ever". Im mean like these r very commom sense answers that any law abiding citizen would obtain if they managed to make it to the age of 21 years.. good vid though
very good info with out the normal "Rambo"mentality (: i have a question please.
i know why i carry, but when people(if they do)why do you carry a gun? what is the correct response with out me telling them its my right and my duty.what is the "thing"that retains respect, with out being a smart ass but also with out haveing to sound"politicaly correct(which i dont have the stomach to do)" im not going to appoligise for carrying but i dont want to appear to be a bad ass in peoples eyes either.thanks
@MultiGuitarman53 Thank you for asking that question because it is the question that came up today with someone who does not have a clue concerning firearms. A simple response is "I am not going to compromise the safety or well being of others or myself by not carrying." Hope that helps you. It's a simple statement with no apologies.
I get questions from time to time similar to the bank question. I like to use a car scenario to illustrate a good mentality. If I get carjacked, I'll hand the dude my keys and stand aside. A car is simply not worth shooting someone over. If I got carjacked and they ordered me into the car (hostage), I'd take the first opportunity to shoot.
it's not about stopping crime, or being a vigilante, it's about saving innocent lives. If it's not about that the gun isn't part of the equation.
Do you ever carry a 1911? If so, do you carry with the slide safety on or off? Because the way I see it, carrying a 1911 with the slide safety off would be like carrying a Glock in the sense that Glocks have the trigger safety like 1911's have the grip safety.
@SierraTangoGuns I CARRY A KIMBER ULTRA CARRY TLE COMPACT- 1 IN THE HOLE LOCKED AND LOADED, WITH THE SLIDE SAFETY ON. HAVE ALWAYS THAT WAY, YEARS OF MILITARY AND CIVILIAN CARRY. IT TAKE NO TIME TO DEACTIVATE THE THUMB SAFETY WITH VERY LITTLE PRACTICE. PRACTICE WHATS SAFE AND COMFORTABLE FOR YOU.
@SierraTangoGuns thumb safety on. 1911's are designed to be carried hammer back with a round in the chamber, and the safety on. They should also have a beaver-tail safety, and a firing pin safety (activated by the trigger, or sometimes by the beaver-tail). Gun safety is really two fold. One is engineering, and the 1911 is one of the best. The other aspect is the procedure required to safely use that firearm, usually outlined in the manual. The 1911 is very safe, *when used properly*.
you make some execelent points in this video. you definetly dont wanna use your weapon to protect someons money weather its yours or not. i personally dont ever carry more than 50 dollars in my wallet and i do have more i keep it tucked into my sock. so that if im ever mugged i can just open up my wallet and give the person whatever i got which is usually anywere from 20-50 bucks and hopefully that would be enough to satasify the perp and hopefully he would just go away.
what about the inevitable question of " do you carry a gun " comes up as soon as people you know find out you like guns. I say inevitable because I live in MA and almost everyone I know asks me that when they find out I'm into guns. I'm 21 and don't have my permit yet, but I'd feel wierd lying about ir when It when I do.
One question that im stumped on is what if you get into a physical altercation and possibly thrown to the ground or not. But during the fist fight he see's your concealed carry. Wont he try to take it possibly?
I totally have to agree with you. I'm only 22 and just bought my first handgun about 2 weeks ago and haven't been able to shoot it. I can get my CCW any day, but I won't until I know that gun like the back of my hand. A prime example is all the gangbangers in my area. They never get to practice or go to the range. When they do try to shoot at someone, it's always the same. "Miraculously, no one was seriously injured".lol I wouldn't want to miss and hurt the wrong person. It's gonna take awhile.
I'm getting used to carrying a weapon by carrying knives and other edc items. It's good practice and the more comfortable I get I doubt I'll feel weird when I start carrying a gun.
Like that you say to use only if needed, not like some gung ho idiot would say something like take down the robbers or blast the road rage person. Respect that.
thanks. i would enjoy more advice videos like this.
couple questions: when carrying a concealed weapon, is it also one's responsibility to defend other civilians if their lives are in danger? (im thinking of an alley robbery or even a fight where one person is beating an already unconcious person) Also, is it your responsibility to try to "keep the peace"? (I'm picturing observing a fight between 2 individuals who are both trying to harm the other, not really a victim and assailant situation)
@gcgenerals22 Not a responsibility. If they are trying to kill each other, let them. If their is a clear attacker, and they have a weapon then yes, you can defend their life. At least according to my laws, where you are they may be different.
Great video. You addressed a lot of important issues and did it in an effective way. It should be very helpful for review for veteran carriers and new guys alike. Thanks a lot!
i was told by a new york state trooper to only tell the officer i have a gun if he/she ask if i have any weapons. what if on there vacation a mad man starts shooting up the place? i bet that lady would greatly regret her decision. awesome video very informative
Great Vid. One thing to think about when being pulled over by a police officer is if the off chance he asks for your gun happens, make sure he takes it from you. This is important because all its going to show on his hood camera is him standing there and you pulling a gun on him, which is not a good situation.
Good vid. In the state of North Carolina, when you obtain your CCW, that information is transferred to the DVM. If you are pulled over by a LEO and your plate is run, he or she will know that you are a CCW permit holder. But as you said in your vid, great advise to turn on the dome light, keep your hands in plain site and inform that officer that you do have a CCW permit .
Nice job with the video really great material! Just wanted to add that if your new to a CCW try wearing your firearm concealed (unloaded if you wish) in the safety of your own home and with your family around. I found it interesting that they had no idea I was concealing. It's a confidence boost and gets you comfortable wearing, walking, and sitting with your firearm concealed.
This very helpful information. There are a lot of important things for me to consider. I'm turning 21 next month and I plan on carrying concealed. Open carry, I've got rifles I can do that legally with. Of course, people would not look kindly upon that. And if they did, then the converse also applies in which the law then falls by the wayside due to a passive and local acceptance of certain actions.
I decided to carry because I felt like a sheep in wolf surroundings. I thought that if I had a chance to save mine or my family members life answered that question. I also agree with what you said in the vid.
GREAT VIDEO! the scenarios were great! Though laws vary from state to state, and some scenarios could be looked at differently... Only means YOU MUST DO MORE VIDEOS! :)
A friend of mine solved the "don't run your moth" problem in what i see as a great way. He open-carries all the time, and if anyone has a problem with him doing that and say he cant come over with the gun he simply wont come over at all any more, cause apparently the person he is (a person who values he's constitutional rights) wasn't welcome there any way.
If I get a permanent residence visa (withc i need to carry) or if it becomes legal to carry back home, I'll do the exact same thing.
amen to not running your mouth about carrying. a few of my friends are like you mentioned, and think it makes them look like a badass by showing everybody their carrying, especially when younger kids are around
i got my license to carry about a yr ago and i have tried numerous carry methods i have tried to carry everything from full size 1911 to glock 26,27, and i prefer sticking a s&w airweight in my pocket or a small 380 pocket gun although the 380 is kinda a weak rd its about shot placement im bout to change up my carry method i almost traded my sig 238 for a black scandiuom 357 like you got but didnt i hate buying guns and putting 50rds through them and trading them back in losing 100 bucks or more
Im a concealed carrier. In the traffic situation, I would not hesitate to hit triple digit speeds if the roads and conditions permit. Maybe its different for me, I drive a supercharged mustang and you just think of the gas and you are going twice the limit. I wouldnt suggest it to others though... Just trying to avoid an IMMINENT confrontations at all costs.
@whatsinthebox101 don't count your chickens bro. I would be VERY surprised if they vote it in. If they DO, consider what kind of restrictions we will be under, you won't be able to keep it in condition one, you won't be able to have certain ammo....Lived here all my life. And I would be VERY surprised if it passes.
hey. i say carry if you can. people do some crazy shit out there. its like people lost their anger management skills in the 90's. going to a theater these days is ripe with dudes looking to show off to their ladies. every time i go to watch a movie i see at least one fight almost break out. they always tell you that when you get your pistol permt. only pull it to protect life. not property or money. this video was much needed. also people run so many scenarios throught their heads they scarethem
im 25 and have carried on an ankle holster since i was 22. so far it has worked out ok for me, but ive been unable to carry on hot days in the summer when i wear shorts. i saw your recent video on the crossbreed belt and holster and it looked great, but i have never carried IWB before. my question is, do i need to buy larger sized pants and shorts to comfortably carry IWB? and if so, how many extra inches do u recommend? thanks.
@HanoiRocks33 hey get a keltec 3AT or ruger lcp. they are great for ankle carry and i had the same problem when riding my motorcycle around. the wind blew up the pant leg. so i would switch to a nemesis pocket holster. stick the gun in the backpocket like a wallet or in the front pocket like a wallet. works for shorts great too. they even have bigger pockets so even better.
This is an outstanding video. I have no license but have been doing research on firearms for the last year. Very informative. This a great help for me or anyone else that is going to apply for a firemarm license and even more important for anyone looking for a ccw license. Five stars***** Love the Hk's videos
@cocacolafan971 well, it all depends what you are going to use it for, i would suggest a normal swiss army knife first, because you wont get funny looks, and if you feel like you need something bigger or stronger, i suggest a spyderco delica, or a knife similar. i hope this helps, i was in you shoes at one point also.
is there any calibers restrictions when carrying a concealed? (like can u carry a 50 desert eagle? , not saying that i would just courious) and is the a limit to the number of hand guns you can carry on your person?
It is funny you mentioned pulling into a police station... I actually had to do that once to get away from an angry driver! It worked too. He stopped in the turning lane and stared at me, then drove off.
Seems like we should be raising the voting age to 21 if you can't CC until 21. How can we expect people make a good decision about who to elect if they can't be trusted to drink or conceal carry?
@AllfatherGuideUs one of the amendments to the constitution actually lowered the age from 21 to 18 because of the age to enter the military , well that was one of the reasons for it anyway.
Good job on this video, I think you have some very sound advice, some people might have slight adjustments but I understand that you are speaking from your own point of view and I think it is a valuable perspective.
@mrblisterfist Yes, when they pull you over here they run the plate and it comes up, but it is still law to tell them you have it on you, and if you drive your friends car he wont know when he runs the plate.
if you're inside your car and someone approaches you with a weapon, you can drive away because he's not in his car. that's my only issue with what you're saying. the key to most laws is whether you can retreat or not. research "the castle doctrine". if you're in your car and have the ability to retreat, you're not at the end of the line. you have an option before pulling your gun. also, you don't want to announce you have a permit. that comes after the pullover if you get asked to exit your car.
@strigilives What I am talking about is you can only run so long, and eventually you will run out of gas, keep in mind this is an extreme case that I am talking about here.
Where I live you are not required by law to say you are carrying a gun when stopped by a police officer. So I would not volunteer any information to a government employee unless I am required to do so. I have always found that you are better off not volunteering any information and only answer questions asked. If the cop asked if I had a gun with me I would say yes and I have a permit for it.
@biguy525 Good idead, sometimes talking too much is not a good thing, and here in california, a police officer will know you are a registered firearm owner by running your drivers license. They may or may not ask if you are carrying it, it's up to their impressions/concerns.
+1 on the bank bit . Even if there is only one desperado robbing you cannot imagine the clusterfuck that's ready to happen if you decide to act stupid "protecting" the banks money
Paul you are the man bro keep the vids comming. CONCEALED MEANS JUST THAT YOU RUN YOUR MOUTH SOMEONE CAN ACTUALLY CALL THE COPS AND ACCUSE YOU OF FLASHING THEM WITH YOUR GUN AND THE BURDEN OF PROOF IS YOURS TO PAY FOR IN COURT. Trust me I knoe I witnessed it done to a big mouth friend that got into an altercation and his adversary knew he legally packed a glock 26 and when the cops came YUP he had a 26 and went to jail for brandishing even though his gun was never exposed. I WAS THERE .
come on people! its YOUR job to know YOUR state gun laws, quit asking random people online, go right to the source in your states, go to your local DPS and find out the laws. laws differ from state to state and some even have CHANGED!!!!! go to the DPS cause its their job to inform you if you request it.

Andrew357Magnum 5 months ago
what about the inevitable question of " do you carry a gun " comes up as soon as people you know find out you like guns. I say inevitable because I live in MA and almost everyone I know asks me that when they find out I'm into guns. I'm 21 and don't have my permit yet, but I'd feel wierd lying about ir when It when I do.
DirtyFrigginHarry 6 months ago
You just have to be careful..cuz stories like these, might breed people who carry for the wrong reasons..

One question that im stumped on is what if you get into a physical altercation and possibly thrown to the ground or not. But during the fist fight he see's your concealed carry. Wont he try to take it possibly?

@nakota2k not if you get to it first. avoid any fight. run away, you have a gun.

It's gonna take awhile.

thanks. i would enjoy more advice videos like this.
couple questions: when carrying a concealed weapon, is it also one's responsibility to defend other civilians if their lives are in danger? (im thinking of an alley robbery or even a fight where one person is beating an already unconcious person) Also, is it your responsibility to try to "keep the peace"? (I'm picturing observing a fight between 2 individuals who are both trying to harm the other, not really a victim and assailant situation)
gcgenerals22 11 months ago
@gcgenerals22 Not a responsibility. If they are trying to kill each other, let them. If their is a clear attacker, and they have a weapon then yes, you can defend their life. At least according to my laws, where you are they may be different.

JAG6363 11 months ago
Great Vid. One thing to think about when being pulled over by a police officer is if the off chance he asks for your gun happens, make sure he takes it from you. This is important because all its going to show on his hood camera is him standing there and you pulling a gun on him, which is not a good situation.
cwbyfan223 11 months ago
Hey Paul,

It's a confidence boost and gets you comfortable wearing, walking, and sitting with your firearm concealed.

humans4targets2 11 months ago
This very helpful information. There are a lot of important things for me to consider. I'm turning 21 next month and I plan on carrying concealed. Open carry, I've got rifles I can do that legally with. Of course, people would not look kindly upon that. And if they did, then the converse also applies in which the law then falls by the wayside due to a passive and local acceptance of certain actions.
DemonHide 11 months ago
One importent thing we was told in CCW class is always have a cellphone when you carry conceal.
staglefty 11 months ago

A friend of mine solved the "don't run your moth" problem in what i see as a great way. He open-carries all the time, and if anyone has a problem with him doing that and say he cant come over with the gun he simply wont come over at all any more, cause apparently the person he is (a person who values he's constitutional rights) wasn't welcome there any way.
If I get a permanent residence visa (withc i need to carry) or if it becomes legal to carry back home, I'll do the exact same thing.

im 25 and have carried on an ankle holster since i was 22. so far it has worked out ok for me, but ive been unable to carry on hot days in the summer when i wear shorts. i saw your recent video on the crossbreed belt and holster and it looked great, but i have never carried IWB before. my question is, do i need to buy larger sized pants and shorts to comfortably carry IWB? and if so, how many extra inches do u recommend? thanks.
HanoiRocks33 11 months ago
@HanoiRocks33 hey get a keltec 3AT or ruger lcp. they are great for ankle carry and i had the same problem when riding my motorcycle around. the wind blew up the pant leg. so i would switch to a nemesis pocket holster. stick the gun in the backpocket like a wallet or in the front pocket like a wallet. works for shorts great too. they even have bigger pockets so even better.
PavlovSandor 11 months ago
@HanoiRocks33 Yes, you need to add one or two inches to the waist of your pants

cocacolafan971 11 months ago
@cocacolafan971 well, it all depends what you are going to use it for, i would suggest a normal swiss army knife first, because you wont get funny looks, and if you feel like you need something bigger or stronger, i suggest a spyderco delica, or a knife similar. i hope this helps, i was in you shoes at one point also.

@AllfatherGuideUs Glad someone could shed some light on that, and I think most times it will work.
humans4targets2 11 months ago
Seems like we should be raising the voting age to 21 if you can't CC until 21. How can we expect people make a good decision about who to elect if they can't be trusted to drink or conceal carry?
AllfatherGuideUs 11 months ago
@AllfatherGuideUs one of the amendments to the constitution actually lowered the age from 21 to 18 because of the age to enter the military , well that was one of the reasons for it anyway.

In my state when an officer runs your drivers license it comes up
on their computer that you have a permit. (TN)
Same for you?
mrblisterfist 11 months ago
@mrblisterfist Yes, when they pull you over here they run the plate and it comes up, but it is still law to tell them you have it on you, and if you drive your friends car he wont know when he runs the plate.
humans4targets2 11 months ago
Thanks Paul i always learn something new when i tune in! -A J
heymynameisaj 11 months ago
if you're inside your car and someone approaches you with a weapon, you can drive away because he's not in his car. that's my only issue with what you're saying. the key to most laws is whether you can retreat or not. research "the castle doctrine". if you're in your car and have the ability to retreat, you're not at the end of the line. you have an option before pulling your gun. also, you don't want to announce you have a permit. that comes after the pullover if you get asked to exit your car.
strigilives 11 months ago
@strigilives What I am talking about is you can only run so long, and eventually you will run out of gas, keep in mind this is an extreme case that I am talking about here.
humans4targets2 11 months ago
Does running your mouth about your firearm collection also apply?
FullyLoadedMag 11 months ago
@FullyLoadedMag No, that is fine to tell about that, because all the people would know your collection is at home.
humans4targets2 11 months ago
Where I live you are not required by law to say you are carrying a gun when stopped by a police officer. So I would not volunteer any information to a government employee unless I am required to do so. I have always found that you are better off not volunteering any information and only answer questions asked. If the cop asked if I had a gun with me I would say yes and I have a permit for it.
biguy525 11 months ago
@biguy525 Good idead, sometimes talking too much is not a good thing, and here in california, a police officer will know you are a registered firearm owner by running your drivers license. They may or may not ask if you are carrying it, it's up to their impressions/concerns.
mrpicky510 11 months ago
@biguy525 Yeah, here you have to tell or you break the law.
