  • i got your product key!!!

  • @Luisalinux

If you mean the different desktop menu thing, it's Linux MINT. Which is different from Ubuntu 11.04. I think it's just Linux Mint only. I might be wrong.

  • Thank you for your Office Key :D

  • why not just use open office?

  • @Snorkai Sometimes you need something to easily convert .docx to .doc.

If there is some other program that can do this, please share with us =]

  • commentary's fucking great :D

  • I'm a long-time win-office user, but the last version I used was Office-XP. So I don't know the real difference. It appears that the drop-down menus have been exchanged by drop-to-the-side menues, called "ribbons". Oh well, fancy name but wtf... In comparison with office-xp open-office has no apparent drawbacks, in my humble opinion... I could still use winoffice-xp but I prefer not to...

  • ad shortcuts

I think it's better if POL asks you about short cut for every program

    ad service packs

I will look further into this as i hadn't time to test if any of service pack will ever install.

    ad allegedly non working components

Are you really sure that they don't work? I don't know how should they work, I didn't classify them as non woking because they started, i didn't look further into them.

    ad cliparts

Can someone post me a solution so i'll include that in POL?

  • good beacause i hate open office

  • Great video, man!! I like it. I like the "Cancel bitches" part :) 5 Stars from me :)

  • what linux are you using

  • Linux Mint

  • Why would anyone use MS Office when there is a free OpenOffice?

Not to mention tons of other free solutions.

  • Because I have to?!

Show me a solution that is full compatible with MsOffice 07 documents, I would love to switch. I'm forced to use it as long as it's standard in our university.

  • @philaurent1983

I haven't had any problems opening .doc files in OpenOffice...

  • To open the files is not the problem. It's the format of tables/labels or textboxes, they look different in OpenOffice.

For example a letter head, in MsOffice it's one page with different boxes for the address/reference/date and so on.. the same file in OpenOffice is a mess with two or more pages.

As long there is a problem with the formating, I'm forced to use the original program.

  • I'm using open office for work. If I have to share WinOffice documents, I use a simple format. So I merely provide the content without any special format. If I provide a final document to someone, I simply convert it into a pdf-file, one clikck. The recipient can't change it and the formating is preserverd. Works perfectly fine for me..

  • That's right, I'm using "standards" too.

But tell that my colleges, professors or others..

it's frustrating and non productive to inform everybody what they should do or not.

The result is that I work with OpenOffice/pdf and every incoming file with the original software. I don't like that, but I don't know a better solution.

  • Well, then tell them to send you their stuff as pdf-file. It's a standard, so that should be productive. If you are creating content together you shouldn't mess with the formatting until the content is finished. That's true for any program you are using. I have worked together with an office user on a word-file including marked-up changes and comments. It worked perfectly. He didn't notice I was using a different program until I told him...

  • Yea man you go a point.

But in general people are stupid.

And the people who are only using wordprocessers are special indeed.

If people started using Open office it will be devoloped in to something that MS cannot touch.

As the other guy said it is coz it is known as standerd that's why we have to use it.

  • once again gnu/linux is king. ..

  • playonlinux looks nice, i'll check it out.

First I have installed all fonts with winetricks and than office 07 (wine 1.1.26).. it's working fine.

    (word, excel & powerpoint)

  • Yea man i've tried tis before but...

    1. Can't insert any cliparts.

    2. Cant draw charts.

3 Dosen't support unicode therefor i can't use my lanuage.

Can you please tell me a workaroud for these problems?
