I'm Pro-Union but there was time back in the 80s for just a few short months, if my old man wasn't a Scab, our family would not have eaten. The unemployment checks ran out and we were hunting rabbits on or rented property to make stew and chow-mein. Luckily he got a good gig at a shop where he didn't have to be a "scab" or on public assistance. I love you guys and Unions (brought us the weekend) but my old man had to feed his family. The assholes that shipped jobs off overseas are to blame.

Also due to a formula miscalculation, the Fed actually owes the USPS over 50 Billion dollars. However the fed is broke so they will not pay up, but the USPS still has to.
Go see film Harlan County USA. -1973 Never forget the battles and their terrible cost. Workers fought all across this country to unionize. Don't take your rights for granted. People in their 1000's died for them. GOP and Tea Party = Corporate power
My union is just as greedy and corupt as the company. They're in bed with the same politicians,my contract is about 70% federal or state law, the other 30% of the contract is about as strong as the paper it's written on. When my union "brother" got hurt, and could no longer work,or pay dues, they through him under the bus,and said good luck w/that. I went to Madison back in March, what started off as labor protests, turned into a protest for all kind of "great" causes.
@zerodan1 I don't know about you, but I vote for my union leaders. It's just like any other democracy, if you are to lazy to take care of your business, corruption will set in. But in a union environment, you have the power to address injustice. You have to stick up for your fellow worker, your brother/sister. No government or union will do everything for you. Good luck, my brother.
i am a vet and a teamster, son of an ibew president. you all dont get it. we need unions in the mines and factories and the docks. we dont need it in the school house and at the dmv.
@TheBlogmocracy How about in burning buildings and firefights? How about in fields where men work to clean up spilled toxic and explosive chemicals? Do you have any clue how many dangerous, difficult and highly-skilled professions are represented by public unions? My father cleans up chemical spills for a living. He's been exposed to more toxic chemicals and hazardous conditions than any plant worker in the USA, and now Kasich is trying to set things up so he can strip his health benefits.(cont)
@daltonultra You anti-union people don't get that the republicans are NOT trying to balance budgets. They are NOT trying to "level the playing field between the private and public sector". They are trying to strip funding from the Democrats by crippling the unions that contribute to their campaigns. And public unions are only the start. If the union-buster bills stand, they WILL move on to attack private-sector unions next. Stand by the workers NOW, or YOUR rights will be stripped later.
Walker's administration rewards campaign backer's son: Brian Deschane- no college degree, little management experience, two drunken-driving convictions. $81,500-per-year job in Gov. Scott Walker’s administration overseeing environmental and regulatory matters and overseeing about 70 state workers who are ACTUALLY QUALIFIED for their jobs. Competent people and the environment at the mercy of this guy. Word got out, and the guy fell on his sword. Still think the workers don't need protection?
what people fail to see is that wisconsin made it so they can only unionize for WAGES ONLY. that means work conditions can be super dangerour or the hours outlandishly long. as a kentuckian, i know the conditions of miners. if they hadn't unionized in the 30's 40's 60's and 70's, they'd all be working for crap living in houses with no electricity or water. many still don't have those ammenitites
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
How come all you union dicks have to go back 60 or more years to show bad working conditions why not show an auto worker with their finger stuck in their as, or maybe an air traffic controller sleeping on the job
@ccpper The pictures were not of bad working conditions. The pictures were of people uniting in protest. If you want to see current pictures... simply google "wisconsin protests" and you'll have loads of current material.
@ccpper You are so stupid it hurts, my Bro worked as a traffic controller, and I know the issues. Idiot like you Fuck guys like us that deserved to be treated with a bit of dignity and respect. Obviously you have never held a position of responsibility. It's not always sunny skys, there flights go out and come in side by side and tell me that wouldn't where you down mentally. Lots of 12 & 14 hour days so with a shift change, what do you expect from a guy that got 4 hours rest between his shifts
Unions don't make companies go belly up. Unions negotiate there contracts with companies. If they can't afford it they shall not agree to it. Simply bad management.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Unions are not what are founding fathers fought for and would be against them today as they provide artificial rights to a group of people that are part of the union. This is unconstitutional as rights are not given to groups of people but individuals. As long as we have unions we will continue to bankrupt companies and states. Look at how GM went bankrupt.
@rhsherrin "...they provide artificial rights to a group of people..." I know that isn't your whole quote but I couldn't help but think of a corporation when I read that.
The teachers unions have been blocking paths to a proper education for ages now. Any idea of the hoops you have to jump trough to fire a incompetent teacher? But the rest of the working force seriously need to unite in unions and start demanding the respect and dignity they deserve!
@hstarr78 Fallacy: You attack the person and not the point, I also see a strawman, I never blamed anyone for any supposed stupidity. Spotting fallacy's is something taught to me by a good teacher, she is extremely dedicated to her job and very good at it. She is however no more certain of her job then loads of mediocre teachers and the few exceptionally bad ones. Teacher unions block all notion of teacher quality control as to not punish the bad ones, and so they block rewarding good teachers.
UAW in the house! I will just start off with saying that they may take away the Union which should tell you that America is heading for its grave. But eventually when big bosses start ordering and taking advantage again the Union will be back mark my words, even though it shouldn't leave they have minimized us down so much so we don't have the big numbers we use too. But stand together and unite.

@TheBlogmocracy Unions are a democratic right of ALL workers. It doesn't matter who you work for, if the workers want them then that is their right.
dankru 9 months ago 3

@TheBlogmocracy So you don't want to leave that up to the workers? Freaking jerk!

Still think the workers don't need protection?
aaronkatten 10 months ago 2
what people fail to see is that wisconsin made it so they can only unionize for WAGES ONLY. that means work conditions can be super dangerour or the hours outlandishly long. as a kentuckian, i know the conditions of miners. if they hadn't unionized in the 30's 40's 60's and 70's, they'd all be working for crap living in houses with no electricity or water. many still don't have those ammenitites

How come all you union dicks have to go back 60 or more years to show bad working conditions why not show an auto worker with their finger stuck in their as, or maybe an air traffic controller sleeping on the job

@ccpper The pictures were not of bad working conditions. The pictures were of people uniting in protest. If you want to see current pictures... simply google "wisconsin protests" and you'll have loads of current material.
mmazzi61 10 months ago

Unions are not what are founding fathers fought for and would be against them today as they provide artificial rights to a group of people that are part of the union. This is unconstitutional as rights are not given to groups of people but individuals. As long as we have unions we will continue to bankrupt companies and states. Look at how GM went bankrupt.
rhsherrin 11 months ago
@rhsherrin "...they provide artificial rights to a group of people..." I know that isn't your whole quote but I couldn't help but think of a corporation when I read that.

The teachers unions have been blocking paths to a proper education for ages now. Any idea of the hoops you have to jump trough to fire a incompetent teacher? But the rest of the working force seriously need to unite in unions and start demanding the respect and dignity they deserve!

@mdsatan you must've been educated by one of them because you're clearly an idiot. blame your stupidity on the teachers--typical.
hstarr78 11 months ago
