now let me start by saying RE4 is not a bad game it's a bit scary at points within the game. What makes the old RE games creepy and scary are them camera angles because u don't know what is coming around the next corner and also that dead silence builds up the suspense, the way the place looks as well. As a game designer myself I would of stuck with the aiming down the gun camera angle shot but kept the cinematic camera shots just to stay with the style of the old RE games.

This RE 4 version is only in Japan and that it is way cooler. I wish I had a copy and the right system to play this game. It was better for Leon to wear his leather jacket throughout the whole game unlike the U.S version.

Leon holding a torch all the time is kinda dumb. Nevertheless, its a very interesting concept. Maybe Mikami would have refined these concepts and introduced them into RE5 if he had made it. Interesting to note Leon is "infected" in all versions of RE4, but in the Beta its more psychological. Note the QTE also.

@TabTV2009 I enjoyed RE4 alot, and do feel it is still an RE game despite the changes. IMHO RE4 could have been even better if they had kept the creepy atmosphere from the earlier RE4. The opening area, Pueblo, is atmospheric and interesting, but after that fantastic start the castle lacks any creepiness.(except the maze, which has the feel of classic RE), and the puzzles are childishly simple. The action in RE4 should have been punctuated by puzzles and "quiet, too quiet" moments.
@TabTV2009 I've always thought the part of the game where you play as Ashley Graham was a missed opportunity. You control a character who has no weapons, which could have created a feeling of real peril (especially after the player has become so dependent on weapons). It was way too easy for Ashely to throw those torches, and the only real tense moment was the knights.
They should have made that part of the game much longer, and really forced the player to adapt to a character who is unarmed.

Remember we are looking at demo footage, we have little idea how it would feel to play the game. (now that would have been interesting).

@TomRomeneesha I'm sorry but you are completely wrong. Shinji Mikami scrapped this version of Resident Evil 2 when it was 70% done so it could not have been released. The gameboy color port of Resident Evil was finished but was never released citing poor quality. Work for Resident Evil Zero was ported to the gamecube as it was coming about near the end of the N64's lifespan. None of these games are available anywhere as they were never commercially released.
@Firinic They aren't available yet tho. However you'd have to be extremely lucky to get a beta of most games that are worth having. One rare example is the HL2 Anon beta. However they may have destroyed the betas before the final versions were released.

Resident Evil 2,1 and 0 in this video did came out. RE 2 was the Japanese version, RE 1 for gameboy color is hard to find in the U.S. RE 0 was only release in Japan and RARE IN THE U.S AND REALLY REALLY RARE IN ENGLISH VERSION. RE 4 was going to be like that in the video but it was not a zombie game but a ghost one. RE 4 looks cool for adults and it not for little kids that are play the one they really made.

@strykah92 yeah, although i did like change of direction (current re4 and then re5), there's a reason why RE1 remake is STILL my favorite game in the series.
I do think RE4 is a phenomenal game for what it is, but it sorely lacked the unpredictable horror the old-school games had, replaced instead by roundhouse kicks, backflipping through lasers and all sorts of crazy acrobatics :|
I'm still yet to play REmake as I didn't have a Cube last gen, but I'd love to try it someday on the Wii for sure. Come to think of it though, I heard the head decap scene got removed, perhaps that was foreshadowing of how RE4 would turn out? xD
I hope they will bring them type of angle shots back because that would bring the players back to the original style of the classic RE games

Really like the RE4 beta design, but it really feels like Fatal Frame or Silent Hill. They changed the game a lot. Specially the camara angle.

There are still zombies in all of them they are just more like mindless humans. But they are more intelligent than slow zombies.. everyone jus mad that the zombies in re 4 and re5 are not as easy to kill.

@Do3y132 No, it's because everyone misses the original uncontrollable flesh-eating zombies that made the original games creepy. And the zombies in the older titles are just as hard to kill due to lack of ammo and large sums of the undead in one area.

@TomRomeneesha I'm sorry but you are completely wrong. Shinji Mikami scrapped this version of Resident Evil 2 when it was 70% done so it could not have been released. The gameboy color port of Resident Evil was finished but was never released citing poor quality. Work for Resident Evil Zero was ported to the gamecube as it was coming about near the end of the N64's lifespan. None of these games are available anywhere as they were never commercially released.

@Firinic They aren't available yet tho. However you'd have to be extremely lucky to get a beta of most games that are worth having. One rare example is the HL2 Anon beta. However they may have destroyed the betas before the final versions were released.

@supagokuman2 ..It does look good but, I think it didn't make it cuz it looked a little too much like Alone in the Dark The New Nightmare. In that game you do go around fighting shadow creatures and you have a flaslight like that.

Resident Evil 2,1 and 0 in this video did came out. RE 2 was the Japanese version, RE 1 for gameboy color is hard to find in the U.S. RE 0 was only release in Japan and RARE IN THE U.S AND REALLY REALLY RARE IN ENGLISH VERSION. RE 4 was going to be like that in the video but it was not a zombie game but a ghost one. RE 4 looks cool for adults and it not for little kids that are play the one they really made.

In 2006 I saw Resident Evil 0 for N64 and Resident Evil for GameBoy Color on EBay three of them and sold but now you cant find them no more. The games are that rare and people are not putting them for sale its that rare.

RE4 final was great too dont get me wrong, but 3.5 is more RE more atmosphere and no action crap.capcom made many bad choices in the past changing re4 from the early awesome horror version to action wasnt the only one

Look at the button commands though, Gamecube buttons, I believe this was AFTER the first build of RE4 got turned into DMC.

@strykah92 yeah, although i did like change of direction (current re4 and then re5), there's a reason why RE1 remake is STILL my favorite game in the series.
the horror is what i like.

I do think RE4 is a phenomenal game for what it is, but it sorely lacked the unpredictable horror the old-school games had, replaced instead by roundhouse kicks, backflipping through lasers and all sorts of crazy acrobatics :|
I'm still yet to play REmake as I didn't have a Cube last gen, but I'd love to try it someday on the Wii for sure. Come to think of it though, I heard the head decap scene got removed, perhaps that was foreshadowing of how RE4 would turn out? xD
