Even for static jumps there is a 4 thousand count. The chute is packed in a Nylon bag which can melt under the friction and "cigarette roll" the chute so you use a reserve.
We are supposed to count 1thousand, 2thousand, 3thousand, 4thousand. If we dont feel anything by then, we pull our reserve. Knock on wood that has never happened to me
Nice vid, I miss those days of the jumps, just don't miss the landings. You got up faster then I always did. I would still be laying down doing my body check to make sure everything was still working.
That brings back some memories! Thats what its really like, I like how the audio captures the sound of the air gushing into the door and the hum of the engines while they are stood up, then the sound of the prop blast on exit, then when the chute opens everything goes kinda quiet and peaceful, just like the real thing, I have allways tried to explain how the sounds go from violent to peaceful great jump and great video! Thanks
Yeah man.....lotta memories. I always hated when we would only jump on door at a time like he did cause you would have to be hooked up, weighted down and wait for another pass just for your turn. couldnt tell if it was a short DZ or not though. Airborne!!!
I was a Blue Falcon at this time, we just got back from Iraq in Jan. of '04. I was in B. Co. I'm pretty sure I was on this jump too!
