  • in all fareness if a medic is faced with 8 casualties at once a tourni is a good option. my only problem is that the tourni is concealed under a flap both before and after deployment. in the rear a triage person would not notice the device and assume the bleeding is not serious and move to someone else. this looses valuable time in saving the limb. great idea horrible implementation. it needs to be uncovered and needs a deployment tag or something to flag it for the guys in the hospital.

  • @bxxj That is why we put a T on their forehead. :D

  • A leg holster is definitely going to impede access to the upper thigh tourniquets won't it not?

  • This is genius, so OBVIOUS, makes you wished you'd thought of it.

  • For those who don't know this: A tourniquet IS THE LAST RESOURCE to stop bleeding. If you have a tourniquet on your arm for example, you will most likely lose that arm. Reason is because once you apply that tourniquet you can NOT let it loose due to the deadly amount of CO2. In other words, you blood becomes a poison to your own body. If you release it without proper medical condition, you will most likely die since all of that CO2 blood will rush back to your heart. Tourniquet is not a toy kids

  • @iguisard Nothing but respect, but that's actually completely wrong.

(Youtube will not let me post the link I was going to post- search "tourniquet use in the pre-hospital setting)

That's the first link I found. The Journal of Special Operations Medicine, Fall 2005 had a great article on it too.

Confirmed cases of tourniquets being placed for 6 full hours with the affected limb(s) saved.

Frankly, I'll place a tourniquet first & figure out if I really need it later.

  • At the end of the video he talks about how the operator can continue fighting after activating the ITS system.

Damn. What kind of a billy badass would just...keep on rockin' after that? Holy crap.

  • @Quadropheniac15 The one who really wants to save his life, kid.

  • @BFGbmw Indeed.

  • Only problem is that it is an international standard that ALL tourniquets must be clearly visible when medics take over.

  • Blackhawk is the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Actually, the inventor is a surgeon out of Texas, Dr. Keith Rose... Blackhawk simply manufactures and markets the product.

  • @iwllkilluall their far from the best none of their gear is issued its mostly used by airsofters fyi

  • A brilliant innovation! As for price, if we can spend billions to bailout the bullshit bankers then this is certainly worth the price for our troops!

  • >DigitalMarine

    I agrree with you

    ズボンが焼けてなくなった時の事を考えたら、

    バックパックに紐入れといてそれで縛った方がいいよね。何より安上がりだし。

  • Or... you could just sell those straps seperately instead of spending thousands of dollars on having every GI's pants fitted with these straps.

  • Yeah.. till the day you need them and of course that is the day you KNEW for a fact you didn't need them and left them behind.

  • OH lol this is patetic, you can get those straps anywhere, this is high tech?

seems like the army needs to contact me to get someone wit brains and make something better

  • lol, yeah. I mean, built in torniquets? Like they couldn't have come up with that one at any number of times! It's a totally obvious invention!

  • As a medic myself, i'd appreciate this greatly. We carry one tourniquet, and every soldier carries one for himself. Instead of dicking around looking for HIS tourniquet or having to spend the one meant for myself, this would quickly let me stop the bleeding. Mind, one tourniquet aint enough to save a man who's blown both arms or both legs off.

Its about time someone made this. This will do nothing but save lives.

  • @Zimmerhelt As a medic you should know that every soldier in the field carries several tourniquets with him

Or have they stopped teaching troops to use slings, pack straps and boot laces for tourniquets

And the other guy is correct

Tourniquets are never ever for any reason hidden under a flap where it could easily be missed

  • I think the most common users of these pants will be found on gunshow operators and gun store counter wizards

  • very cool

  • holy crap. that's awesome. one very good use of tax dollars.

  • OPERATOR COUNT:
