I personally think they missed the point of an HD remake. If you look closely, every visual in the original that was going for the hazy, foggy, or dark feel is ruined in this game thanks to making everything super bright or obvious. It's like they just wanted to vaunt their new, shiny graphical capabilities instead of actually putting some ascetic value into the art style and atmosphere of the scenes.

Why do we need a comparison? Halo Combat Evolved was created in 2001, which, the game's quality or "Graphics" aren't very awesome as the Anniversary edition, and the anniversary edition was released out in like, what, 2011? Its supposed to be like that, or else the graphics in Halo Combat Evolved would be like today, and Halo Anniversary would look like Battlefield 3. I'm just saying.

Dunno about anyone else, but while the new graphics are technically better, I still much prefer the old ones. The old graphics had feeling to them, they were perfect brightness and the lighting was perfect. Now it just seems like everything is too bright, and that it seems unnecessarily complicated. For instance in the new map room with the planet and spinning Halo, I much preferred the old, plain look which emphasised the Halo and planet, rather than the new look with over-complicated walls.

@Alexei3214 Totally agreed. I also dislike how they changed the weapon designs to be more like Halo 2/3. It's a little annoying. Some of the new sounds suck, and also they gave the Elites some English lines which is ridiculous since in Halo 1, the Master Chief's Mark V armour has the ability to translate Grunt language, but not Elite. (In Halo 2 this changes.) Some of the MJOLNIR armour is reminiscent of Halo 2's Mark VI armour, such as the gloves.

So as far as canon goes, 343 shat all over it.

The sounds and weapons are better, the only thing I could say is that maybe they were too loud when compared to the music volume. The only examples I can think of that were created by 343 are the new Mark V look and the AR, both of which are barely different, and again, I would say more "Updated" than redesigned.

1. In the first place I believe Halo 1's recorded Elite voices were in English reversed, so maybe they changed one voice and forgot to change it back. I'll prove it when I find the time for sure anyway.

2/3. Plasma Pistol/Rifle are Halo 2 designs. A lot is changed. When I mentioned the armour, I was talking about Mark V, not Elites, though yes they did change Elite designs. They could update clarity without changing the design. Anyway, like I said, I'll prove this when I can.

As for the Plasma Pistol, it was updated to look more like the Reach PP, not the H2 PP.

They updated it, bringing it into the modern Halo cannon, which, might I remind you, was almost entirely created by Bungie.

As for that English line from an Elite, if you can prove it than by all means do so. I don't think they added it though, maybe it was a glitch.

Halo 1 was easily the best game. Once 2 came out it was clear that weapon changes had been made to make silly little kids able to play the game too. Removing the pistol, auto-aim on everything... such a shame. We used to take pride in precision shots, now they are done for you just because some kids couldn't understand why they were owned in LAN parties.

The reason they are constantly firing? Simulations, to make sure the ring is always ready to fire. The monitor of Instillation 05 said they had run some 1.2 TRILLION simulations on his ring, and i'm assuming its the same across all of them. /Halo Nerd.
