Even with a good camera, you wouldn't expect to see stars in the moon footage. As a skilled photographer I know this. The moon in full sunlight is so much brighter than the stars that at the correct level of exposure, they would just be too faint to show up.

I have come to the conclusion that there are three common themes when it comes to the people who believe conspiracy theories. First, similar to what you say, it is an ego trip. They figured it all out and the rest of the people are dupes. Second, it is a blame game, and you notice how it always seems to be the government that is blamed. a small portion of engineers and architects believe something, so it must be true.
-this wouldnt even make sense if it was a huge portion.
