  • i eat every 2 hours is that wrong? & i dont count how many meals like i DONT eat 6 meals, cuz i wake up at 5 am & i sleep at 10 or sth.. i simply eat from the min' i wake up until i sleep. i would love if the twins or any1 who knows for sure to respond to me..

    Curious what can push you into a unwanted catabolic state? Over training, every day stress and not getting enough sleep. So again all the lame advice, go to failure on every rep, no pain, no gain, don't forget to eat then eat some more are all factors that increase the likelyness of going into unwanted catabolic states. The exact opposite of what you're typically told to do.

I know, what I just said is not totally or completely accurate. Technically your body can burn some tiny amounts of muscle in more normal situations, but to pretend if you don't eat constantly or other bodybuilder crap is simply false, yet is very common bodybuilder bullshit.

    Because they don't have a clue. Yet almost every bodybuilder on Youtube or that has a web site will try to tell you avoid going into a Catabolic state because that will use your muscles as a fuel source. Like most myths, theres a grain on truth here, but a tiny one. Your body is capable of using the Catabolic process to burn muscle as a fuel, BUT it will be the last thing it does and only in survival mode and other rate situations. Your body ALWAYS uses fuel already in your muscles,

    Anabolism - builds/repairs things in your body. - this biosynthesis, allows the body to grow new cells, maintain tissues, etc.. and requires energy. Guess where this energy comes from?

    Right, from Catabolism which is the degradative chemical reactions that break down of things into smaller units in most cases releasing energy. For example digestion is a catabolism process. So why is it common for bodybuilders to bitch Catabolism will eat away at your muscles?

    Catabolism in one half the Metabolism equation, the biochemical processes all living organisms - including humans use to maintain life. The other half of the equation is called Anabolism. You can not LIVE without both happening.

  • does anyone know if you eat a very small meal or just drink a protein shake. does that make it so you wont be catabolic? or do you have to eat a real meal? does just having protein make you not be catabolic? or do you need a good amount of calories, carbs, fat, etc.?

  • @healthyandyoung You need to have an adequate amount of calories to keep fueling your body. A protein shake is decent (normally run round 300 calories I think) but it's not enough. You need to eat real meals and you need to eat throughout the day. Depending on your starting weight you should be eating a MINIMUM of 2,500 calories a day and about .75 g of protein for each pound you weigh. It varies on your current weight and your goal but 2,500 calories and .75g per pound is a good start I'd say.

  • @a68593 You must be eating a shit ton too many calories bro. I'm a mesomorph as well and i dropped from 14% to 6.3% in 3 months. I get around 150-160g of protein, and 140-150g of carbohydrates each day. Also around 2,250-2400 calories. Also I eat 6 small meals a day.

    16% is a little high. Brown rice is better than white for you, just like whole wheat bread is way better for you than white bread. Get your carbs from oatmeal and banana's I would suggest.
