I didn't have the good fortune of seeing any of his live performances or even this Muppet episode as a kid, but I do have a vague memory of some kind of birthday video that I think he did. I didn't know his name back then, but he carried the same bag, did a similar bagpipe performance, a similar balloon animal performance, and also the spitting teeth. There was also someone with him in that video wearing a gorilla suit named Bubba. Anyone know what I'm talking about, or did I imagine all that?

As for the bagpipes, I reckon you need a LOT of bagpipes to make good music. There was a Tattoo in Russia where they had a lot of bagpipes playing Amazing Grace. That was good. But they needed 47 military bands or something like that. ( watch?v=oXbALs4f7cA )

I like the muppets and this is funny, but it's also horrible because it's encouraging a sadly popular misconception that the bagpipes are incapable of making good music.

Everybody knows this is a huge and outrageous joke; the only people who think the pipes sound awful are the silly ones who know NOTHING about traditional music. Is this guy not the funniest? I noticed at once that he does his high kicks with his left leg--VERY unusual. Most people are right- footed just as they are right-handed. If you don't belive me, just ask any serious dancer--they will tell you!
