what type of wood for handle and scabbard? I came across an old whale hunting weapon that happens to be exactly 5cm across. Unfortunately I can only make the blade 34 -35 cm lenght. But I think it might be fun to try what you are doing. Also the blade happens to be exactly shaped as a gladius.
