u obviously havent heard of bands like Death from above 1979 or The Carps. They make bass just as good and powerful as a guitar. Go to a live show with a full band and imagine if there wasnt a bass player there, how empty sounding it would be. Sure watching people play bass like this isnt entertaining but the point is he had fun PLAYING it. play a bass sometime with distortion. if your decent, you can make some sweet stuff and have ALOT of fun. but then it also depends on ur personal tastes.
