  • She did that!!! AWESOME!

  • Her tone, purposeful riffs and incredible control and range transcends any female artist I can remember at this tender age. Just remarkable!...

  • very beautiful song and very deep. Coming from such a lovely and talented woman as shanice!

  • A lot of top talented artist from that era never got their props or just due. Now look at what you have today getting plaques on top of plaques for BS studio enhanced and hyped up studio music production. When this thing crashes and burns, IT'S GONNA CRASH & BURN!!!

  • SHE WAS TOO GOOD TO NOT HAVE A HONEST CHANCE TO BECOME BIG.

  • In my opinion Shanice has a Gospel voice that's where she will outshine all the rest R&B isnt ready for Real Singers like Shanice. Im just saying! Sincerely, Yona Love

  • Ha! That was then, thank God I woke the funk up, his loss!

  • I remember when she sang this song on the MOTOWN variety show and she was a special guest (a teenager) when she made this song. GLAD TO HEAR IT AGAIN.. very talented artist....

  • I had this lp and really loved this song--I remember seeing Shanice sing it on Live At the Apollo in the mid-80's and while the lp version is great, her Apollo performance of Just A Game was amazing and I never forgot it--I had it on tape years ago, but I lost it and still regret it.

  • I'm telling my age right now cause I had this album on cassette. This was always one of my fav's and her range is magnifient. I remember seeing her perform this on Showtime at the Apollo and that's when real artists shine cause she sounded just like the record. No autotune or doctoring of her tracks. Ya'll right she is yet another underrated artists which sickens me while other ppl who can't hold a note are everywhere. Sighs....

  • @Sugastack So did I!! LOL When I posted this video on FB just now I said the EXACT same thing!!

  • Good LAWD Shanice sang this song with the ease of a seasoned vocalist. A shame this album didn't do what it should've. This piece is superbly executed. What a relative piece and artist this day. Wish she'd sing it again live.

  • @CuRve5000 I would so LOVE to see that performance. Shanice's performances are so hard to come by. Just a year ago a guy uploaded some rare ones and within 2 months or so they were taken down and his account got suspended. WHY?!!!

  • @Kumtekmeon damn! really? dat sounds like some conspiracy sh*t right der. you sure dude still living as well? smh

  • @yosoydifferente #1. It HAUNTS me to this very day. His username was cocoacub (back in July 2009), I believe he said He used to work at some Studio (maybe Universal, but in Florida I think). He posted 2 live performances of her on the Tom Joyner Show, He posted her performing the Anthem back in 90/91 at some Basket ball game with many stars in the audience including Leonardo and Boyz II Men. There is a performance of her with Johnny Gill doing Silent Prayer, well he posted her performance of ...

  • @yosoydifferente #2. ''You Ain't All That'' from that same show; he posted several others, BUT I knew it wouldn't last because I had noticed a trend and as I suspected within 2 months (I recall) his account was terminated. I had PM him at the time so I have his message to me, and when I clicked his username just now this is what I got ''cocoacub has been terminated due to multiple or severe violations of our Community Guidelines and/or claims of copyright infringement.'' To prove my point...

  • @yosoydifferente #3. If you visit Shanice song ''If I Were Your Woman'' you'll see a user t4headliners telling about posting Shanice Live performance of that song and in no time his account was closed. I have seen Tamia and others performance at some Motown show here on You Tube, but anytime Shanice performances from that same show posted they're pulled for copyrights. What even strange is that I've noticed that her duet with Jon Secada on TWO occasions is taken off when it nears a Million.

  • @yosoydifferente #4. I'm convinced that something isn't right. I deduced the holders of the copyrights are doing so because Shanice is a phenomenal singer and they want when they release their special compilations of sort, they want Shanice to be there as some special bonus to make the purchase satisfying. For example, I've seen where the Motown show I mentioned are now available on dvd, OR as you say it sounds like a CONSPIRACY? Whatever it is, I think it is UNFAIR to Shanice fans.

  • wow!! this was my jam back in tha dayz!!! but listening to it now... her voice was before her time.. baby minnie ripperton..

  • Fantastic voice

  • BEAUTIFUL SONG

  • does anyone have the video of Shanice singing this live??? She amazing!

  • @t4headliners : I saw it on Apollo back in the day. She TORE the place DOWN!! Haven't seen it since.

  • insaneeeeeeee!!! beastin and she couldnt drive yet..lol

  • I'm sorry but baby girl never got her props for this album. Very sad

  • I couldn't for the life of me remember who sung this song and I couldn't even remember the name, I just knew the melody and some of the words. When this song came out it was played on the jazz station over & over again. Shanice did her thang with this. Such talent getting over looked.

  • I was 16 when I bought this cassette tape in 1987...and I still love it to this day. Can't tell you how many times I fell asleep listening to this song

  • Yes in deed, I've been a fan a long time too from the Apollo days and Shanice like Rachell Ferrell (With Open Arms) are so underrated. I hope Shanice and Flex (One on One) stay together forever, they make a nice couple with two beautiful chilren.

  • And Shanice was on the same label when she began as Janet Jackson. The time, energy and money was spent promoting Janet and not Shanice and the result was that Shanice never got the props she deserved.

  • I remember when she preformed this song at the Apollo here in NY back in '87...she blew the audience away with this song. Beautiful.

  • I remember that she got a standing ovation for her age at that time she killed it.

  • I love this song, Her vocals are very "Extreme"! Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!

  • She actually did sing this song live back in the late 80's on Showtime at the Apollo. She did an excellent job too. She was only 14.

  • I would LOVE to hear Shanice perform this live.

  • Is there a video or audio of Shanice doing this live? I would to hear her perform this live.

  • This is her best song I think.

  • How high did she go in this song at the end?

  • I think a F6 at the very end. Amazing for only 13!

  • I think you are way off!!! Shanice is known by professional reviewers to be a great live performer. The reason why Shanice is not in the spotlight is becuz she's not fame crazy. When Shanice hit big in 92 U wud think she'd remain, but instead she went in hiatus. It's also noted that She never got the marketing as say a Mariah, Whitney or Toni, and u'll agree Shanice is vocally on par with them. Also if U look at her live perf. here on youtube, U'll see that she sounds the same as on record...

  • Are you kidding me and Beyonce and Mariah are consistant ever time, yeah okay!!!

  • Teena, Angela,Shirley Murdock, these singers are great live performers but they too do not share the fame Whitney. Marketing is the key, no matter how good a singer is if they are not promoted the public will not buy. Millions were spent to give Mariah push start, even though she has the talent. Shanice is such a great singer that reviewers never satisfied with her material; always saying that it is not challenging, though others try them and fumble.

  • I neva hear any1 sing a Shanice song in competition, becuz when you check it out it's not easy to do, even thou she makes it sound that way. Cuz when u try to sing it you see that her breath control is very good in delivering the phrase. It's easier for me to sing a Mariah and whitney than to sing a Shanice.

  • I love her voice...she is so under rated

  • I cant stand to listen to this song....this woman is THE most under rated artist out there. How can you have the Mariahs, Beyonce and Britanys doing well and not this woman?? She desreves the world.

  • Girl I feel your sentiment, and that's why I am praying that 2008 will be Shanice year... I urge all her fans to buy as many of her album as possible, whether for a friend or a stranger just to let the world know that Shanice is the ultimate vocalist.

  • kittykittymeowmeow1 is so so right... shanice deserves the best, im going to beleive that she is one of the best female singers in the world until the day i die..i really love her and also her music...

  • @kittykittymeowmeow1 I agree.....never ever got her just due!!!!!!!!!!

  • @kittykittymeowmeow1 Shanice was a victim of bad timing and misaimed marketing. Because of her young age, she was marketed as a teen-pop artist in the same vein as Tiffany. So when the late 80s teen pop craze faded, so did she. Also, it seems to help if you audience compares you to an existing icon. Mariah is constantly compared to Whitney and Aretha, Britney is compared to Madonna and Janet, and then Beyonce gets the Diana and Tina comparisons.

  • This was my joint! Memories of me singing this song over and over! Those notes she was hitting @ the end was marvelous!

  • OH SHYT!! I just posted on "I Bet She's Got A Boyfriend" how I wanted this song! This is hands down muh favorite Shanice song. She was killin it!
