thank you it worked after a really long time of trying to get the wires in the right spot and people thumb this up it really works for PHAT and as i read from comments it works for slim too now be careful because it is dangerous but still helped me get it to charge on usb port since my charger port is broken really much thanks to uploader thumbs up!

uum one thing ima try it but im afraid it might burn my battery because the usb gives out 5 volts while the battery is 3.6 volts... the charger is 5 volts too but that goes trought the psp which makes me worried ill try it and ill tell if it works or no later

@johnbfmv1 the psp light will turn orange, if you're charging the battery alone, leave it for a while then pop it in the psp and see if the charge has changed.

Attention, this only works for the Original Old 2001 psp, it does NOT work for 3000 or go... i have tested all three, but great tutorial for people who still have the original....

How long does it take to fully charge an empty battery? Might be useful to know a general duration since there are no auto cut-off or charge indicator on this contraption, so as to not overcharge and hasten the battery wear.

ok so i tried this thing i was freaking scared i thought it was gonna blow up but it didnt anyways when i turned on my psp i had 20% baterry life.i did this thing and i let it charge for 3 minutes the i put the battery in the psp turned it on and it had 6% battery life so it actually kills the battery and not charging it .

Oh dude, I know this thing already. I actually have one btw. ^_^ It's the USB with 2 different ports. One is where you put it in the USB slot in the psp and the other one is for charging. The one for charging is the charger head of a psp's charger. :D

a quick note to those who say this doesn't work: it only worked for me after i used it in the 'normal charger' mode, the wires on the battery didn't do much, i waited for 30 minutes with the wires directly on the battery, nothing hapenned, i put them in the charger mode, the light lit almost instantly. cheers

I tried the first one and was not really lucky. But the 2nd one going the wires touching the pin is a legit way. Peel the black and red wires so you have a bit of leeway. Make the black wire touch the outside metal part inside of where the PSP charger goes. Make the red touch the middle and plug it up. Put a small peice of paper or thin cardboard inside the charger to avoid wires touching. Watch the magic happen. Thumbs up man, I appreciate this tutorial.

@IHanaI it's not a good idea charging a triple or double A battery with this, the usb charger is 5V(same as the normal psp battery charger), and the triple and double A battery's are only 1.2V-1.5V

oh yeah people...............one thing about this way 2 charge your battery u can still put in your psp and play it.............but! u wouldn't see the charging light on but u can see it is charging by going to SYSTEM SETTINGS>>BATTERY INFO. and u will see the %age going up and the HOURS LEFT with this symbol ( - )

thats pretty sick. Using the same idea, you could probably rig up a battery to a usb mini with a psp that has usb power enabled and have a second battery that you could just plug right into the top.
