Meatarian - No Benefit, Harmful to body and spirit.
Vegetarian - First the in the levels of spiritual healing and healthy for the body. (It's first because one can argue that plants are living, and studies show that they have feelings.
Fruitarian - Level 2. Great spiritual benefit, can be same as Vegetarian in regards to bodily health. (The purpose of a fruit is to be eaten then return to earth with it's seed)
Liquidarian - This is indeed possible, with Great Faith and spiritual practise, meditation ect...
Allot of mystics, holy men, sidhas were holy men, living soly off water, the essence of life.
(Great Spiritual Benefit, Great bodily health for the body trained in faith to handle it. This is because no toxins are being induced to the body what so ever.)
And Finally..
Breatharian - Famous breatharians such as 'Buddha, Buddha Boy (Search in youtube) Jericho Sunfire (Search in youtube)...
@madzane94 yeah i guess the anus is a mistake of god. use your brain bratharians don't exist. Frutitarianism including leafy greens vegetables is the way to go.
way 2 go mango i would love 2 be fruitarian im lacto ovo vego at the mo but after takeing biology and seeing all the plant adaptions etc I think fruitarian is the way 2 go
as eating the fruit doesnt kill the plant as long as you leave some for seeding but you would need 2 get the diet plan right so you dont get deficiant so i think ill give it a try and see how i go
@SytheClaw I don't know if you know this, but with some fruits, such as strawberries, where the seeds of the plant are so small you can't efficiently separate the seed from the fruit, the plant is actually so smart, that it WANTS you to eat the seeds with the fruit, because the seeds are indigestible, so they'll be excreted in your feces. Now the plant has its seeds in natural fertilizer. Nature can be truly amazing!
"And God said , Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat."(Genesis 1:29)
Not sure what the logic behind this is. Other animals eat animals and or vegetables that aren't fruit... Why should humans only eat fruit? After all it's seasonal. Seems natural to eat from a variety of sources depending on whats available.
If anyone has such doubts of a high fruit diet, go check out durianriders, michael arnstein, freelea, richard blackman/jericho sunfire, and a list of WAAAAY more raw vegan and fruitarian folk out there.
Fruits are not what kills the teeth, unless it's underripe & bloody sour.
@ISkankYou That is correct. With exceptions of the citrus fruits due to their acid content, fruit, when consumed whole, cannot hurt your teeth, because the water and fiber content neutralize the effects of the sugar on your teeth.
I have one question that might seem a little crude, but is one hundred percent serious. If you eat meat, arent even vegetarian or anything like that, and decide you want to try a fruitarian diet, what will your shit be like? Will you have constant diarrhea? Im thinkin you probably will, but your body will eventually get used to it and everything will get normal right?
I notice that for people to go raw vegan or fruitarian, they gotta transition slowly from a meat diet, to cooked food vegan, then raw, then frutiarian.
Only because going "cold turkey" is really taxing on the body during transition
Another problem with this diet is the damage to your teeth. If you observe this video carefully you'll notice Mango is missing many of his upper front teeth. His muscles look soft and flabby even though he is skinny. I've seen thin people whose muscles are still quite evident. His thinning hair could be genetic but its something I've noticed with long-term fruitarians and raw vegans.
I agree that fruit is the ideal diet ... for orangutans!!! Humans look like crap on this diet. But feel free to remove yourselves from the human gene pool.
what a crappy diet! But you got to give credit to this Mango guy,he is defenetly the real deal, not just one of these posers hwo think they are raw fruitarians and supplement with b12 and a hoist of other things. Also Mango is not yelling that this is the only way to go, he is just saying how you are a true fruitarian and a true fruitarian he is, respect to this guy, very nice fruitarian!
You've seen people who eat meat with the same body, sure I'll accept that, vegetarians too probably, but those people don't live lifestyles as active as his, I can guarantee you.
I think it says everything that he tells us how extreme his omnni diet was before, 3 pints of milk etc, now he's just gone to the other extreme.
Even IF our primeval ancestors were fruitarians, that doesn't mean we should devolve.
@smoky2004 Only If your body is very toxic then the sugar in fruits could do some damage to teeth If you don't brush them. But If your not toxic and healthy you have nothing to worry about.
@MTHKITEBOARDS,Animal flesh leaves an acidic residue in your blood and your teeth and bones will dissolve before falling out due to the lack of vitamin C found in fruits and vegetables.
@namniekib : Are you kidding? An all fruit diet contains a lot of acid and sugar. Meat has been a part of the human diet for almost 3 million years and guess what, we're aren't losing our teeth and our bones aren't dissolving. Perhaps you haven't noticed that the fellow in this video is missing his upper front teeth. You need to stop taking advice from followers of these wacko religionist diets.
@auggiedoggy,did you realize fruitarians also eat legumes, nuts and seeds? It's not all mangos.A Neanderthal's diet consisted of mostly animal flesh. But according to the textbooks, they died out several thousand years ago.The people who replaced them,Homo Sapiens, ate a much more varied diet which included more vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts and seeds. The day the world plunges into a deep Ice Age will be the day I hunt, kill and eat an animal. But it's not my 1st choice.
@namniekib : Yes I was aware that certain fruitarian diets included legumes, nuts, etc. A friend of mine used a fruitarian diet for three weeks as a cleansing diet. Like today's hunter/gatherer tribes, diet varies depending upon geographical location. People that live in the northern hemisphere (like myself) are a long way from the tropics, both geographically and in ancestral terms. Regardless of where man lived, meat was/is an important part of the natural human diet.
@auggiedoggy,if you're that far up near the Arctic Circle in an Ice-age like environment, then yes meat is the ONLY food readily available to eat. That I understand. What I don't understand is this notion that excluding meat, even temporarily,is somehow detrimental to your health and that's false. The average human only needs about 10% to 20% of your calories from protein.Thats 42 to 85 grams on a 1700 calorie diet.Lentils are 32% protein ,broccoli is 41% protein. It's not hard to get what you need.
@namniekib : Well I said the northern hemisphere. I'm not living above the Artic Circle. Broccoli may be 41% protein but the bottom line is that in terms of grams there is only 1 g of protein in a cup of broccoli. There are no rich vegetable/fruit sources of protein. You have to eat tons of plants to come close to the daily requirement. Contrary to what the average vegan seems to think about a meat-eater's diet, I do consume a plentiful variety of plant foods in my diet.
@auggiedoggy-"There are no rich vegetable/fruit sources of protein"
If that were true,it wouldn't be POSSIBLE to raise cattle, sheep or pigs.Get used to it.There's a plentiful supply of protein in legumes, grains, cruciferous vegetables and even certain fruits like mulberries and apricots. Some people just prefer burgers over broccoli or pork over polenta.I get that.It is a personal preference. But don't lie to me and say that meat is the only significant protein source.
@namniekib Actually cattle, sheep and pigs supplement the small amount of protein they get from eating lots of grass by digesting micro-organisms that live in their gut. Humans can't get protein this way.
@namniekib Err when you said that it there were no substantial source of protein in vegetables and legumes it would not be possibly to raise cattle. Cattle eat grass do they not? The fact is herbivorces have guts designed for their diets. The structure of the human digestive system is such that it is impossible for us to get all the nutrients we need from fruit. Or do you agree that this man's diet is ridiculous?
@gabbb432,I believe I said that it wouldn't be possible to raise cattle if plants had no substantial protein.Vegetables have protein, some more than others.I think the main rift lies in the definition of fruitarianism. It's quite ambiguous. To me,fruitarianism is the eating of plant-based foods without killing the plant. That includes protein rich legumes and fat rich nuts and seeds as well as grains and actual fruits like apples and oranges.Thats protein, carbs and fat.Anything else is questionable
@namniekib: I said vegetable, not legumes. Cattle do not eat legumes and the fact that they can live on grass is because they are .... ta da .... herbivores! Their digestive systems are nothing like ours. The fact is, whether or not you care to admit it, is that vegetable sources of protein are lower grade, less absorbable to humans and plants food have to be eaten in large quantities to meet daily protein requirements. There's a reason why all herbivores must spend their day eating.
Cattle eat soybeans given to them in their feed. Before that,it was cowpeas, known as black-eyed peas today. All are legumes. All contain significant protein. Are you having difficulty discerning between a vegetarian and a herbivore?Vegetarians sometimes predigest their food in the form of cooking.Herbivores chew their cud and/or have seven stomachs.Vegetarians choose their foods in a market.Herbivores eat grass in a herd and/or force fed on a feedlot.
@namniekib :You missed my point which doesn't surprise me in the least. You brought up your point that cows and other livestock grow easily on a diet of grass but then go on to talk about the high protein content of foods that aren't even the natural food for such animals. I said, quite correctly, that cows naturally eat grasses. Their ancestors the aurochs, ate grasses. I could care less if farmers feed their cattle unnatural diets these days. Cattle grow on grasses for the simple reason ...
@auggiedoggy : ... that they are herbivores. The vegans and vegetarians (your buddies) that claim humans are closer to herbivores, using an argument based upon taxonomy, are foolish. Save your anatomy lesson for your own brethren who seem confused about this. I'm simply pointing out how ridiculous the whole comparison is but that seems to have escaped your comprehension.
@auggiedoggy,I have no "buddies" or "brethren".It would be impossible to speak honestly on behalf of such a large demographic.Nor do I get a thrill out of "beating" a life choice I don't understand or prefer. You'd have to be a real loser to want to !!WIN!! so badly.I just state the nutritional facts. And as we throw around this word protein, keep in mind that it's a combination of several amino acids.Perhaps we should dive into lysine, methionine and tryptophan to get closer to the truth.
@auggiedoggy As far as requiring mass quantities of plant proteins to get what you need, you couldn't be farther from the truth. Most humans cook their food and therefore find it much easier to assimilate nutrients like protein. That separates us humans from the animal kingdom. At the risk of repeating myself, observe the nutritional facts of the vegetables and legumes in previous comments. Please don't mow your lawn with your teeth.Thank you.
@auggiedoggy,it's also ridiculous to compare a bear to a human as well. Both are considered omnivores and yet we don't possess claws or incredibly sharp teeth. As far as legumes being unnatural for cattle, you might want to research the nitrogen-fixing properties of legumes. They sequester nitrogen from the air and put it in the soil where nitrogen hungry grasses can feed on it.Crop rotation of grasses and legumes are very common.Cows eat both.Cattle gain weight quickly and raise the profit margin.
@auggiedoggy I've actually heard that it's possible we're being lied to by the mainstream healthcare about how much protein we need each day, and that the truth is, most westerners suffer from TOO MUCH protein. It is true that meat products contain all 22 amino acids, but the whole truth is, humans can manufacture 14 of them, so we really need only 8, which one can supposedly get from just fruits and vegetables. Nuts and seeds can also act as "natural protein supplements."
@rpmangin : To quote the AHA in a response to an article written by John McDougall, MD: "Although an indiscriminate mixture of plant proteins could meet protein amino acid requirements, it must be remembered that the amino acid content in most plant proteins is more limited in amount per serving than that from animal sources. Thus, it is difficult to maintain essential amino acids at optimum quantity and distribution.".
@auggiedoggy Still, animal protein doesn't just appear out of thin air. The animal had to get ITS protein from a PLANT SOURCE! Even carnivorous animals in nature depend on protein from green plants, in this sense.
@rpmangin : They eat the "middleman" because plants cannot be properly digested. For humans, plants provide a low-quality protein. A true herbivore has a completely different digestive system and can digest cellulose. We can't.
@auggiedoggy Still, when was the last time you heard of a strict vegan, or anyone for that matter, suffering from a protein deficiency? If they do, then it sure as heck is the most asymptomatic nutrient deficiency in the world!
@rpmangin : Generally, when people eat enough food they will not develop a protein deficiency. Humans, during our evolutionary past, never lived exclusively on plants. Throughout our evolution we supplemented with meat and in Northern climates, meat formed the major part of our diet. Personally I won't settle for second-rate nutrition. I supplement my predominately plant-based diet with lean meat in various forms; mostly fish but also poultry and red meat less often.
he doesn't look healthy at all... looks almost like a crackhead.... I'm not convinced lol lets see someone who is a fruitarian go head to head with someone who eats meat and other veggies in a series of physical tests im putting my money on the guy who eats meat
@stevenpboileau Meat doesn't mean shit. If you don't exercise or workout, you won't perform well. You don't even know what convince is, try watching TheFruitarian videos. I'm sure an average meat eater would out perform him. I'm sure an obese person would do better than him because most eat meat. Using your logic, or lack of, any meat eater will out perform someone who doesn't eat meat. Can you even pass a fitness test?
This man speaks the truth... Even when I turned vegan from vegetarian, I felt better and became healthier, and now gradually introducing a fruitarian diet, I am having no problems and still feel good.
I like my meat, so I'm not going to be a fruitarian. but then again, besides calcium, zink and b12 deficiency, which can be suplemented this sounds ok I guess. You get amino acids from the fruit(protein), you get fruit sugar(carbs) and if you consider avocado a fruit I guess you get your good fats aswell. I feel it's better to get my zink and calcium from meat than from suplements, however, a diet consisting of mostly fruit sounds pretty good
There's so many different types of fruits, most importantly exotic and tropical fruits. Everything the body needs is in all the fruits on this planet.
Animals have their own foods that they eat. Humans are stealing all of theirs. Hydropnics for humans. Surround cities with hydroponic growing systems that contain all fruits and vegetables. Don't eat meat.
no thanks... i have learned my lesson in only eating a plant base diet. not only did i lose massive amount of mass, but also i was feeling so weak, and my legs had no power whats so ever. my jaw was in PAIN eating only fruits.. then i started to drink raw milk. fermented foods, even grass fed meats and eggs.. now I feel stronger and healthier then ever before... check out Weston A. price =)
this man still lives, and he's regaining weight. this whole "being skinny on fruitarianism" thing is temporary. I was skeptical too at one time, but now I'm convinced that this way of eating works.
@00rpc How many time can occurs be skinny in this diet?. Im in' 90 % Fruitarian diet more than half year, and I've that "problem" (53 Kg and 180 cm, I'm a man).
I hope you understand me the question (I'm from Spain).
53kg! Dios mio! you have some serious problems with getting nutrition from fruit.. whether it is digestion [pancreas, liver, stomach] absorbtion [intestines] or utilisation i can not tell without more info. please see robertmorsend on Youtube for more info.. you need herbs to help heal you. chi kung/qi gong would also help [you can stand in embrace tree with palms facing forward and out or do spring forest qi gong]. your "problem" is real.. as much as anything is in duality.
@adrygarcia debes comer mas frutas un minimo de 3000kcal al dia, y recomiendo añadir vegetales de hojas verde para obtener un nivel adecuado de minerales.
A surgeon dentist who was a Natural Hygienist and later became my dentist, in Rockaway Beach, Moe Leichter, told Dr. Stanley Bass that the worst recession of the gums and loss of teeth he saw in patients were in vegetarians and Natural Hygienists who lived mostly on fruit. He said that their teeth were ridged, soft in some, and lacking in calcium. He believed it was best to avoid heavy use of acid fruit.
i eat 10 pounds of food a diet. i know an ultra distance athlete who eats also 80/10/10 Rawvegan and he trains with lance armstrong riding up hills, watch on his channel "durianriders".
hahah the human species is meant to be living in the tropics. And we re meant to eat raw ripe sweet tropical fruits and tender sweet green leafy vegetables.Thats the diet and the habitat for us. Everything else is not the ideal food or place to live.
I was a raw fruitarian for around 6 months, at that time really only eating the sweet fruits. Now, I've begun to include other raw foods in my diet, like "fruity vegetables" such as tomatoes and cucumbers. I also started eating lettuce, as well as some sprouts/seeds. I go easy on the vegetables though, cause I often don't like them. For some reason, though, I often don't feel like eating fruit at night.
You face your insecurities by losing all your weight. Then you understand what morale is. Then you work for the fruitarian body weight by working your ass off for it, while understanding all the lessons and "facing that fear" while enduring the nasty tasks ahead in life.
This is what my solitary fruitarian buddy tells me.
People mudsling him, lie to him, try to scare him. He doesn't cringe down, he stands up and heals himself and moves on, regardless of how he is.
Mango, how can this be true. What about cold climates then?for instance I live in Britain and nearly all of our fruit is imported, so how could our ancestors live on fruit unless they all lived in a tropical climate?is that what your saying?that mankind all came from a tropical climate?
lol, veggies are a pain in the butt to deal with. that's why I eat them in small quantities in my first few weeks of fruit just so the body would adjust to the acidity...then I slowly wean off the greens.
nobody knows! I know i ate fruit for 2 weeks and that was when watermelon was in season. now it's gone and i'm considering pumpkins and the high carb is awesome results.
Gimme a break. Last time I picked fruit, I didnt hafta kill any bug. I'll never forget that scientists have their governmental ties, and governmental ties will have their censoring of non-meat diets, spouting their fear mongering crackshit.
"The only source of fruitarian truth is within yourself, if you seek it"
It's funny people go around spouting as if meat-munchers were the ONLY people going 100 & over, when they havent been travelling
I've been raw since 1980 and the peopel I know who ate only fruit for 6 months or more lost their teeth eventurally. What has been shown is that eating green leaves is essential. Fruit has been hybidized over centuries. Be ware and do more research. i travel with Vitkoras Kulvinskas and he does not advocate fruit diets either. Please eat greens too! Green leaves don't take life..
plants puts the seed in the fruit so Animals eat the fruit and replant the seeds some where different with our rich poop. to not eat the seed is disturbing the harmony between plant and animal.
I'm Fruitarian and am so for only one reason, because I don't feel that I have the right to end another life, regardless of its sentience. Biologically though, we're meant for a raw diet that INCLUDES plants. Life is cruel though DX
Well, we're about 99% genetically identical to the Bonobo, which if you've seen a video of one, is extremely evident. Anyways, all apes, including the bonobo, eat mainly fruit, some plants, and very little meat.
I'm sick of people throwing numbers out there. I'm 99.99% identical to people with cancer - that doesn't mean I should go get Kimo Therapy. I'm almost "genetically" identical to body builders - that doesn't mean I should go lift a bunch of weights. People like you literally WORSHIP numbers - yet numbers don't really exist anywhere in nature. OPEN YOUR EYES.
Gosh I can't let this go. At what point do numbers indicate we're "similar" - who draws the line? In many ways we're also similar to birds, bees, and everything else. If we were genetically more similar to aliens than Bonobo's, who's to say we shouldn't have an alien diet?
Look at a Bobobo's teeth. They're obviously designed differently. You science freaks always scream "NUMBERS!!!11one" without looking at simple underlying realities, such as differences in teeth and intellect.
Umm... Bononbo teeth aren't different from Humans? They're exactly the same... Don't mix up the common chimpanzee with the Bonono.
You don't need numbers to be able to tell we're almost exactly like the Bonobo, look them up, they're very different from the common chimp.
As for diet, the fact that we have the capability to digest meat and plant matter is evidence enough that we can incorporate the food into our diet. But I personally don't believe we should eat anything that was once alive.
They're completely different from our teeth, are you crazy!? I have looked them up - don't be so presumptuous What's obvious to me - you call an unnoticeable subtlety.
Dogs can eat french fries - does that mean they do in nature? And, what the hell led you to believe fruit was never alive? You're crazy.
Anyway, dogs can't eat everything. And they evolved from carnivores now, didn't they. Do you see how diets change? Iguanas can eat tofu. Is it natural?
And why would you first say we shouldn't eat what's BEEN alive - then say everything IS alive? Not that you're teaching me anything - you're repeating what I already said. I could take you to *school* regarding cosmic consciousness . You can even communicate with water and wind - they will respond very noticeably, if you're worthy.
First of all, those are replica's, i've seen them before. They were enlarged, as Bonobo's don't have heads that big. These are the real teeth of a Bonobo... williamcalvin (dot) com/portraits/Chimp/Arnhem%20283sml.jpg
Dogs evolved from Wolves, which are omnivores as well. Wolves evolved from a feline like weasel about 60 million years ago. This means nothing as we evolved from reptiles; carnivores.
I read your deleted response. You just run your mouth without thinking.
I don't care if that was a replica - I've seen other REAL pictures of HEALTHY teeth that AREN'T WORN DOWN that look ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME.
I disagree with science's claim that wolves are omnivores... I've heard scientists call humans omnivores too. They're basing it all on their digestive tract. I'm sure crocs could eat anything as well - DOESN'T MEAN THEY'RE OMNIVORES.
Like OMG! I can't change my Youtube avatar... DX And my deleted response is the same as the public response but with lots of errors.
Here's another replicated skull, I know you love these
skullsunlimited (dot) com/graphics/bc-252-lg.jpg
Digestive tract? XD Humans have the digestive tract of a herbivore, yet scientists state humans are omnivores. Scientists aren't that bias... Anyways, science is like religion but with faith that makes no sense.
You can really take it to the extreme. In that case, you shouldn`t even move. Imagine all the ants or miniature creatures you`ve allready killed! This is really getting rediculous.
Everything is NOT about not killing animals or insects. Somethings are simply about healthy eating and experimenting with diet and nutrition for optimum results.
I'm rather undecided on vegetables, because many of them taste rather bad and feel less satisfying than fruit. Its a very intuitive philosophy. I feel that if I have to alter it so much to make it feel right, maybe it doesn't really belong in my body. I'd appreciate any feedback, cause I'm really not sure about vegetables.
Good point - I'd agree. In nature, the only leafy items which taste good raw are very small sprouts and herbs. Plants with longer lifespans become very woody/barky, and it's totally irrational to put such a thing in your mouth.
However, small plants tasting good does not mean we should eat them either. What we're tasting is youth and innocence which would make us particularly preditorial.
I know sprouts are plants, they are the newly 'hatched' seedlings. But you were using them as a category of vegetables.
And in my oppinion lettuce tastes lovely raw and undressed. It's watery and salty and is like the vegetable equivelant to chips when you don't eat proccessed foods.
Smack! (I smack my lips) I love this idea, however i revolted against fake vegetarian food (pasta with chickpeas in it) which are an insult to myself and what I love and enjoy, that's why I switched to fruitarian simply by writing a list of fruits and deciding almost-all-fruit was a quite good concept. If you believe in evolution, then you also have to acknowledge that humans were hunters and gatherers in the beginning.
Only later came agriculture.
Do any of the Great Ape species do agriculture? No.
That's your answer right there.
We evolved as hunters and gatherers.

as eating the fruit doesnt kill the plant as long as you leave some for seeding but you would need 2 get the diet plan right so you dont get deficiant so i think ill give it a try and see how i go
SytheClaw 11 months ago
@SytheClaw I don't know if you know this, but with some fruits, such as strawberries, where the seeds of the plant are so small you can't efficiently separate the seed from the fruit, the plant is actually so smart, that it WANTS you to eat the seeds with the fruit, because the seeds are indigestible, so they'll be excreted in your feces. Now the plant has its seeds in natural fertilizer. Nature can be truly amazing!

Not sure what the logic behind this is. Other animals eat animals and or vegetables that aren't fruit... Why should humans only eat fruit? After all it's seasonal. Seems natural to eat from a variety of sources depending on whats available.

lol, this video is so old.
ISkankYou 1 year ago
@ISkankYou That is correct. With exceptions of the citrus fruits due to their acid content, fruit, when consumed whole, cannot hurt your teeth, because the water and fiber content neutralize the effects of the sugar on your teeth.
rpmangin 10 months ago
I have one question that might seem a little crude, but is one hundred percent serious. If you eat meat, arent even vegetarian or anything like that, and decide you want to try a fruitarian diet, what will your shit be like? Will you have constant diarrhea? Im thinkin you probably will, but your body will eventually get used to it and everything will get normal right?
ruderevival 1 year ago
@ruderevival
I notice that for people to go raw vegan or fruitarian, they gotta transition slowly from a meat diet, to cooked food vegan, then raw, then frutiarian.
Only because going "cold turkey" is really taxing on the body during transition

@ISkankYou right, ok yeah i understand what you mean

I've been fruitarian and it's not good. Although I would love for it to work.
Maybe it's because I can't afford to eat as much fruit as I should.
A raw vegan diet is fine for me right now.

Another problem with this diet is the damage to your teeth. If you observe this video carefully you'll notice Mango is missing many of his upper front teeth. His muscles look soft and flabby even though he is skinny. I've seen thin people whose muscles are still quite evident. His thinning hair could be genetic but its something I've noticed with long-term fruitarians and raw vegans.

auggiedoggy 1 year ago 2
@auggiedoggy,did you realize fruitarians also eat legumes, nuts and seeds? It's not all mangos.A Neanderthal's diet consisted of mostly animal flesh. But according to the textbooks, they died out several thousand years ago.The people who replaced them,Homo Sapiens, ate a much more varied diet which included more vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts and seeds. The day the world plunges into a deep Ice Age will be the day I hunt, kill and eat an animal. But it's not my 1st choice.
namniekib 1 year ago
@namniekib : Yes I was aware that certain fruitarian diets included legumes, nuts, etc. A friend of mine used a fruitarian diet for three weeks as a cleansing diet. Like today's hunter/gatherer tribes, diet varies depending upon geographical location. People that live in the northern hemisphere (like myself) are a long way from the tropics, both geographically and in ancestral terms. Regardless of where man lived, meat was/is an important part of the natural human diet.
auggiedoggy 1 year ago
@auggiedoggy,if you're that far up near the Arctic Circle in an Ice-age like environment, then yes meat is the ONLY food readily available to eat. That I understand. What I don't understand is this notion that excluding meat, even temporarily,is somehow detrimental to your health and that's false. The average human only needs about 10% to 20% of your calories from protein.Thats 42 to 85 grams on a 1700 calorie diet.Lentils are 32% protein ,broccoli is 41% protein. It's not hard to get what you need.
namniekib 1 year ago
@namniekib : Well I said the northern hemisphere. I'm not living above the Artic Circle. Broccoli may be 41% protein but the bottom line is that in terms of grams there is only 1 g of protein in a cup of broccoli. There are no rich vegetable/fruit sources of protein. You have to eat tons of plants to come close to the daily requirement. Contrary to what the average vegan seems to think about a meat-eater's diet, I do consume a plentiful variety of plant foods in my diet.
auggiedoggy 1 year ago
@auggiedoggy-"There are no rich vegetable/fruit sources of protein"
If that were true,it wouldn't be POSSIBLE to raise cattle, sheep or pigs.Get used to it.There's a plentiful supply of protein in legumes, grains, cruciferous vegetables and even certain fruits like mulberries and apricots. Some people just prefer burgers over broccoli or pork over polenta.I get that.It is a personal preference. But don't lie to me and say that meat is the only significant protein source.
namniekib 1 year ago
@namniekib Actually cattle, sheep and pigs supplement the small amount of protein they get from eating lots of grass by digesting micro-organisms that live in their gut. Humans can't get protein this way.
gabbb432 1 year ago
@gabbb432,where do you get the idea that I suggest people to eat grass?
namniekib 1 year ago
@namniekib Err when you said that it there were no substantial source of protein in vegetables and legumes it would not be possibly to raise cattle. Cattle eat grass do they not? The fact is herbivorces have guts designed for their diets. The structure of the human digestive system is such that it is impossible for us to get all the nutrients we need from fruit. Or do you agree that this man's diet is ridiculous?
gabbb432 1 year ago
@gabbb432,I believe I said that it wouldn't be possible to raise cattle if plants had no substantial protein.Vegetables have protein, some more than others.I think the main rift lies in the definition of fruitarianism. It's quite ambiguous. To me,fruitarianism is the eating of plant-based foods without killing the plant. That includes protein rich legumes and fat rich nuts and seeds as well as grains and actual fruits like apples and oranges.Thats protein, carbs and fat.Anything else is questionable
namniekib 1 year ago
@namniekib: I said vegetable, not legumes. Cattle do not eat legumes and the fact that they can live on grass is because they are .... ta da .... herbivores! Their digestive systems are nothing like ours. The fact is, whether or not you care to admit it, is that vegetable sources of protein are lower grade, less absorbable to humans and plants food have to be eaten in large quantities to meet daily protein requirements. There's a reason why all herbivores must spend their day eating.
auggiedoggy 1 year ago
Cattle eat soybeans given to them in their feed. Before that,it was cowpeas, known as black-eyed peas today. All are legumes. All contain significant protein. Are you having difficulty discerning between a vegetarian and a herbivore?Vegetarians sometimes predigest their food in the form of cooking.Herbivores chew their cud and/or have seven stomachs.Vegetarians choose their foods in a market.Herbivores eat grass in a herd and/or force fed on a feedlot.
namniekib 1 year ago
@namniekib :You missed my point which doesn't surprise me in the least. You brought up your point that cows and other livestock grow easily on a diet of grass but then go on to talk about the high protein content of foods that aren't even the natural food for such animals. I said, quite correctly, that cows naturally eat grasses. Their ancestors the aurochs, ate grasses. I could care less if farmers feed their cattle unnatural diets these days. Cattle grow on grasses for the simple reason ...
auggiedoggy 1 year ago 2
@auggiedoggy : ... that they are herbivores. The vegans and vegetarians (your buddies) that claim humans are closer to herbivores, using an argument based upon taxonomy, are foolish. Save your anatomy lesson for your own brethren who seem confused about this. I'm simply pointing out how ridiculous the whole comparison is but that seems to have escaped your comprehension.
auggiedoggy 1 year ago
@auggiedoggy,I have no "buddies" or "brethren".It would be impossible to speak honestly on behalf of such a large demographic.Nor do I get a thrill out of "beating" a life choice I don't understand or prefer. You'd have to be a real loser to want to !!WIN!! so badly.I just state the nutritional facts. And as we throw around this word protein, keep in mind that it's a combination of several amino acids.Perhaps we should dive into lysine, methionine and tryptophan to get closer to the truth.
namniekib 1 year ago
@auggiedoggy As far as requiring mass quantities of plant proteins to get what you need, you couldn't be farther from the truth. Most humans cook their food and therefore find it much easier to assimilate nutrients like protein. That separates us humans from the animal kingdom. At the risk of repeating myself, observe the nutritional facts of the vegetables and legumes in previous comments. Please don't mow your lawn with your teeth.Thank you.
namniekib 1 year ago
@namniekib : Cooked or raw it won't matter much when the food source is low in protein as is the case with plants.
auggiedoggy 1 year ago
@auggiedoggy,it's also ridiculous to compare a bear to a human as well. Both are considered omnivores and yet we don't possess claws or incredibly sharp teeth. As far as legumes being unnatural for cattle, you might want to research the nitrogen-fixing properties of legumes. They sequester nitrogen from the air and put it in the soil where nitrogen hungry grasses can feed on it.Crop rotation of grasses and legumes are very common.Cows eat both.Cattle gain weight quickly and raise the profit margin.
namniekib 1 year ago
@auggiedoggy I've actually heard that it's possible we're being lied to by the mainstream healthcare about how much protein we need each day, and that the truth is, most westerners suffer from TOO MUCH protein. It is true that meat products contain all 22 amino acids, but the whole truth is, humans can manufacture 14 of them, so we really need only 8, which one can supposedly get from just fruits and vegetables. Nuts and seeds can also act as "natural protein supplements."
rpmangin 10 months ago
@rpmangin : To quote the AHA in a response to an article written by John McDougall, MD: "Although an indiscriminate mixture of plant proteins could meet protein amino acid requirements, it must be remembered that the amino acid content in most plant proteins is more limited in amount per serving than that from animal sources. Thus, it is difficult to maintain essential amino acids at optimum quantity and distribution.".
auggiedoggy 10 months ago
@auggiedoggy Still, animal protein doesn't just appear out of thin air. The animal had to get ITS protein from a PLANT SOURCE! Even carnivorous animals in nature depend on protein from green plants, in this sense.
rpmangin 10 months ago
@rpmangin : They eat the "middleman" because plants cannot be properly digested. For humans, plants provide a low-quality protein. A true herbivore has a completely different digestive system and can digest cellulose. We can't.

@auggiedoggy Still, when was the last time you heard of a strict vegan, or anyone for that matter, suffering from a protein deficiency? If they do, then it sure as heck is the most asymptomatic nutrient deficiency in the world!
rpmangin 10 months ago
@rpmangin : Generally, when people eat enough food they will not develop a protein deficiency. Humans, during our evolutionary past, never lived exclusively on plants. Throughout our evolution we supplemented with meat and in Northern climates, meat formed the major part of our diet. Personally I won't settle for second-rate nutrition. I supplement my predominately plant-based diet with lean meat in various forms; mostly fish but also poultry and red meat less often.

EvilMapleSyrup 2 years ago
How do you figure we're biologically designed to eat plants? Because apes do??
kakifry 2 years ago
Well, we're about 99% genetically identical to the Bonobo, which if you've seen a video of one, is extremely evident. Anyways, all apes, including the bonobo, eat mainly fruit, some plants, and very little meat.
EvilMapleSyrup 2 years ago
Guess what... WE AREN'T BONOBO's.
OPEN YOUR EYES.
kakifry 2 years ago
Gosh I can't let this go. At what point do numbers indicate we're "similar" - who draws the line? In many ways we're also similar to birds, bees, and everything else. If we were genetically more similar to aliens than Bonobo's, who's to say we shouldn't have an alien diet?
Look at a Bobobo's teeth. They're obviously designed differently. You science freaks always scream "NUMBERS!!!11one" without looking at simple underlying realities, such as differences in teeth and intellect.
kakifry 2 years ago
EvilMapleSyrup 2 years ago
They're completely different from our teeth, are you crazy!? I have looked them up - don't be so presumptuous What's obvious to me - you call an unnoticeable subtlety.
Dogs can eat french fries - does that mean they do in nature? And, what the hell led you to believe fruit was never alive? You're crazy.

No, they're not. Type in "Bonobo teeth" in google images, they're exactly the same as ours.

The post was a mistake :L

Digestive tract? XD Humans have the digestive tract of a herbivore, yet scientists state humans are omnivores. Scientists aren't that bias... Anyways, science is like religion but with faith that makes no sense.
I'm the only one who's responding to you :D

Lettuce tastes good and that is a leafy plant. Unless this classes as a sprout.

First of all, sprouts are plants.
Secondly, lettuce does not taste good raw and undressed.
