i did a frame restoration on a 82 shortbed stepside. all new old stock gm sheetmetal. 10 bolts, 456 gears, sbc puts out about 380 horse, double single rollbar, jacked up 6 inches no body lift. brand new 36" dick cepek fun country tires

thats no restoration, you just threw on a lift and painted the gas tanks looks good though, its not too late for paint. get rid of that rust though!

give it a nice paint job and put some micky tompson rims an bf goodrinch tires and keep it in the garage so that the frame doesnt rust up like it did before

Hey man I had a 75 longbed same color but mine was 2wd. i bought it from a 90 year old man for 900 bucks. All i did was tint the windows and throw some chevy rallys with whitewalls on it. And a big Longhorns sticker on the back since we live in Texas. I regret selling it

@scumdog88 if you didnt notice he still goes 4 wheelin in it and why would you spend all that money on body work and end up scratchin the paint of puttin dents in it, he just fixed the truck so it will last a few more years

but lose the camper shell, it looks way better without it, and get ya some swampers, decent for muddin, not as good as boggers, but better than groundhawgs and will prolly last longer if ya drive on the road alot.

yeha its a '84 frame and powertrain. so it is a NP 208. so your right, it's different than the '79 transfer case

i love this truck. im in the middle of restoring my 78 chevy truck as well. im going a different route tho. mines a 2wd with a 350 so im gonna lower it and get it painted after i finish the body work and then im dropping 3 grand on a supercharger lol

Its a good idea to reinforce those gas tanks, you get hit from the side and the sudden compression will make those things explode. Nice video man that truck is sweet!

no..the 350 that leaked came out of the '78 frame and is still good. and the motor that i have in the truck now came out of the '84 frame and was rebuilt.
