Not such a long time comin': Crosby and Nash, minus Stills and Young, to play acoustic set at Zuccotti Park tomorrow, though half the crowd may have to ask who these geezers areOf course, they've been political for years. Apparently they visited site last week and, inspired, returning to play. For those who have never seen them:
it absolutely amazes me that some people don't like this....the only thing i have against it is that it is so short.....but that is why i use the replay button
As good as this - why sing a Stills song ? Why not say 'What are their names', one of Crosby's, a song with more sting and which they still sing - they're doing it on their current 2011 tour ?
As good as this is, I find this a strange choice as Stills wrote it - why didn't they sing one of their own songs ? 'What are their names' for instance another song they now do acapella ?

@powpraxis I understand, I'm just pointing it out so that people at least have a sense of what the song's original meaning probably was. It's easy to read one's own meaning into a song (which is completely and totally fine!), but I think it's also important to consider what the songwriters themselves were trying to convey.
@powpraxis I think this song's meaning has been terribly misunderstood. I believe it was originally written for the "Easy Rider" soundtrack, before Fonda and Hopper decided to go with the final list of tunes. In that context, this song was supposed to point to atrocity that someone should have to pay with their life to be free. Stephen continued to play it, mostly as a statement on Vietnam (in which case, freedom should have quotes around it). Stills was not exactly a war supporter...

For all of my fallen brothers and sisters, 1965 ~ 1975. Thank you CSN & David Gilmore, what an incredible tribute to their sacrifice.

If you didn't get it the first time you heard it, you never will.
It is much more than a short melody with pleasant harmony.

David Gilmour did a great job on this song, Steven must have been somewhere else.
Pity.

I've got goose bumps! The harmony is as good as it gets and the words and sentiment are as powerful as it gets.
