I have always had problems with my spins, I'm not taking figure skating lessons anymore, but I still doing some figureskating moves ^^ I cant even stay centered on a two foot spin, and if you look at the ice after my one foot spin, I'm not just traveling around, I think I'm spinning on my toepick because the "circles" after the blade are very deep in the ice... Don't know how to explain. Does anyone have any advice to stay centered and not to spin on the toepick? ^^)
it's months that i try this and i can't get it right.... i don't get the good position of the foot and the weight... this is so frustrating.... i'm starting hating spins! -.-'''''''
@agtalent1 I don't know what Gamma is... I started figure skating 5 months ago ... but i'm older than the "average" i mean... i'm not 12 or so... so it's hard to learn something new and being fast... i know that... but these freaking spins... i can do a couple of single jumps, i know some steps ... but nothing.. the spin just doesn't come... how long have you been figure skating?
Hey I have been struggling with my one foot spin as soon as I start spinning I hold my leg out for one revolution and then as I bring my leg in I loose control and fall or I go into a two foot spin do you have any tips? X
@inkypink1 it's all about good posture and balance, like the video said. to get a faster spin you should start with about 2 revs with your arms open and slowly bring them in.
humph i wish i had an ice rink where i could skate.. my city has a little one and it's super crowded, you can't even regularly skate there without bumping into ten people :(
I thought gravity depended on the mass of the objects with the inverse of the radius squared, not on the surface of contact hmm.. weird. (Unless he meant friction, of course ^^ )
Can anyone help me? When im going into the spin i cant push off well and i cant move and always have to push off the wall to get into the spin can anyone help me??
@Bfamily12 what helped me is that when you go to step into the spin, glide in with a slight outside edge. It's basically like you're doing a backward to forward mohawk. Then when you reach the centre, press the ball of your foot in to anchor yourself, remember your posture at this point, and then rise up and do your one foot, or sit spin, etc.
If you have a 7 toe pick blade a trick i learned was to lean a bit forward until you feel the first toepick in the ice, kinda feels like you about to fall off a cliff but thats were you need to spin
the thing about spinning is it's easy to throw your self around, but most beginners are having problems on the weight & foot placements/transfers - like me. on two foot spin, do I have to use my heels or my toes? same question on one foot spin. thanks I appreciate replies. :D
@WaterKayleeKatara You don't have to, but for the majority of people, spinning counter-clockwise feels more natural. Try out both directions and see which one is more comfortable/easy. I'm a rare clockwise spinner and am literally not capable of spinning counter-clockwise. Some people can train to go in either direction though it takes a lot of work.
i taught my self how to stop while spinning lol

I'm learning how to spin, but I can only spin on one foot with a max of 3 spins. How do I continue spining? Do I put less wieght on my toes?
inkypink1 2 months ago
@inkypink1 you should gain more momentum b4 the spin
