This is a neat performance in many ways- but it sure looks like lip syncing, which I never enjoy as much as live, "real" performance.

I think they are both in excellent quality. For some reason, I always end reading real trashing against them... But I think they stand by their own... The voice of del Monaco at the end is just wonderful... And Stella is one of the purest voices we can hear... I love it.

In which year was it recorded? The film looks old, Monaco looks very young.

This duet is absolutely dull - unless it is sang by great singers. My favourite Chenier is Corelli but Monaco is also great. It's question of taste. But I like his pianos is this finale.

I'm not sure where the clip came from but I'm sure this was recorded for Italian television in the mid 1950's. They did a lot of that back then and MDM appeared in numerous televised productions including Il Trovatore and, of course, Otello. The videos were available back in the mid 1990's and I was able to get one for Trovatore but unfortunately not for this production. Would love to know where to find more of them now.
