  • what is the number for this??????

  • it got changed to the michael jackson hotline

  • Funny

  • LMFFFAAO XD

  • nighy night

  • i was looking for this number i cant find it anywhere!! D:

  • What is worse is that I was searching "mental health hotline help" on google for a real mental health hotline for a friend when I found this.

  • I understand you are making a statement but mental health stigma is very real and "Jokes" like these, while very cute and entertaining are the worst kind of stigma because the majority of people see nothing wrong with it.

  • One has to be able to laugh somtimes ofcourse mental health hotlines are very serius but i dont see how this insults or makes fun of anybody its just a joke.

Anyway the only place ull hear this is on the net or on someones awnsering machine (which alredy means that its not a free number and therfore not a real hotline)

  • Do a little bit of research on stigma in mental health. The general public does not know anything about mental health due to lack of education and stigma. Most people think people suffering from mental illness are dangerous.

  • @hcamelion Most people with untreated mental health issues are dangerous. I was mentally disturbed and very dangerous until I received the proper treatment and medication. I can say that a majority of people with mental health issues are dangerous because I have fit in that category.

  • @shgibby61981 No that means YOU are dangerous when you are mentally ill. You are an exception to the rule. I know dozens of mentally ill that are more susceptible to violence from other people not understanding them or taking advantage of them. Also most of the violent mentally ill are also abusing drugs to self medicate or just from bad environments and its the drugs that make them dangerous not the illness.

  • @shgibby61981 Even so the amount of violence in the mentally ill population is on the same par as the normal population and only slightly more when including susbstance abuse. This is a proven publicized fact. See my references.

Don't reinforce stigma in the world. Find out the real stories behind mental illness and be a voice of change.

  • @hcamelion poor victimized mentally ill. oh please.

  • @shgibby61981 Reference Regarding Violence In the Mentally Ill:

    stopstigma.samhsa.gov/topic/facts.aspx

People with psychiatric disabilities are far more likely to be victims than perpetrators of violent crime (Appleby, et al., 2001)

The contribution of people with mental illnesses to overall rates of violence is small, and further, the magnitude of the relationship is greatly exaggerated in the minds of the general population (Institute of Medicine, 2006)

  • This video supports that view by showing dangerous and extremest people as having mental illness. I know this sounds very sensitive and the first reaction is "it's only a joke" but it is that attitude that keeps stigma alive. I hear a lot more jokes about people suffering from mental illness then I do about people suffering from cancer.

  • hehe, that was cool. :)

  • Humor can be good medicine. It is also good to talk to someone when you have a problem.

  • I understand what you mean, but I cannot empathize. In any case, no amount of empathy can let one know how people really feel when confronted with such thoughts. When we went through dark times, our only reliable hotline was (very) dark humour. It was sheer dumb luck if some of us survived while worthier mensch did not... And we're constantly reminded of the futility of their sacrifice. Our sanity remains an (often dark) laughter away. So if it comes at the expense of "maturity", so be it.

  • Laughter is the best medicine. If you can't listen to this and have a little chuckle, YOU need mental help!

  • woah someone is over sensitive. my mommy is a crisis hotline volunteer too and she has had over 1000 hours let alone calls and she would think this was funny...loosen up.

  • oh cmon raindreamer its not meaning anything like that its just a joke

  • Bell end

  • Take a joke, man, we all know that this kind of thing in the real world isnt funny in any way, shape or form. but this is a joke, its not supposed to be serious in any way.

  • Yeah, get over it, holy crap. It's just a joke, loosen up and learn to laugh a little. It's a sense of humor that gets people through life, so get one and don't take this so serious.

  • stupid pictures with it
