I have never heard this about Hillsongs.. But it will not stop me from listening to them. The praise & worship songs have helped to bring me through so much in life.. I know that there are Christians that do immoral things. But, I also know that the God we serve is a loving and forgiving God, a God who said Himself that He would show mercy up to a thousand generations for those who love Him. I know that people are imperfect, and the Bible refers to our best righteousness as filthy rags, but just because a high official in the church is perhaps a phony, please don't let that dominate your view of God. actually, no man founded churches, it is christ who founded the chruch, Frank houston may have founded this congrigation. but it was in no way ever under controll, churches follow the calling of the spirit, and if a congregation doesnt it shrivles up and falls apart. hillsong has thrived though following the spirit.

When obeying God also remember that homosexuals are to be killed. Women are second class citizens and if they aren't virgins on their wedding nights they are to be taken to the centre of the village and beaten to death by the entire village.
First off, the Bible specifically says that homosexuals will have their part in the lake of fire, only if they don't turn away from their sin and turn to Jesus. Secondly, women are not second-class citizens. Jesus broke the gender and race barrier in John 4:7-42. Third, the Bible clearly says that sex is only honorable in marriage, however, Christians do not have the right to murder anyone, especially for sin, because we have sinned ourselves, we are no different than anyone.

My youth pastor illustrated it this way to my youth group. If we have sin in our lives, that we know about and are unwilling to let go of (you being jealous of people that are already in bands and harboring unforgiveness against them), then our prayers really seem to not be answered. If you tape two plastic pop bottles together so that the opening of each is taped together, then cut out the top half of the one that is on top.
Stuff that with lots of tissue (and this represents all of the sin in your life that you refuse to let go of). Then, take some type of liquid which has clear coloring in it (my youth pastor used blue dye for water) (and this represents God answering our prayers). What happens is that because of our sins, that end up soaking up the answered prayers, by the time something starts to penetrate through into the bottle (or into our lives) it's a few drops.
Those few drops represent the answered prayers that have been allowed to enter our lives, but because God isn't answering our prayers, but because our own sin is literally blocking them from entering into our lives. You need to ask to show how to forgive people that are already in bands, and to ask Him to forgive you for being so unforgiving. God is faithful to His word. 1 John 1:9 says that "God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
THat means He'll forgive you, and He'll give you the grace to forgive anyone and anything in your life. God doesn't want you to be jealous, and try to be like someone else. God made you for a reason. I enjoy their music and I won't deny their talent and gifting. But like you, I question the motives of these mega churches whose staff seem to bask in their own success with many luxuries. yea i know, but in the music industry, when first impressions are everything, you have to be perfect. Christian music or not, you gotta be perfect, or you wont get through to people, and you could turn away the people you could've have saved.
In a church enviroment the first impression is at the front door, is there anyone there to say welcome to guests, or are they left to them self? What makes people not come back is not a voice cracking mid song, its the atmosphere of the church, the over all impression. Did i feel welcome? Did they notice me? Did they include me or did they exclude me from thier "group"? Where the toilets clean or dirty? What makes or breaks the day for a guest is the culture and atmosphere...
My friend -- what makes or breaks the day for a man whose 'future is decided' in the words of hillsong, is not the environment, or the social atmosphere or the toilets, but whether the word of God was examined, sin convicted, Christ exalted and His gospel preached!
Salvation is the work of God and not man. I walked into a church and the music was this: all hymns. One piano. Who sang it? The congregation. No worship band. No overwhelming talent. Just words that, if read, are humble and reverent to God.

when you read the verses before and after it, it speaks of god choosing who he will have compassion and mercy on, not salvation.

I can understand how some people get angry and bitter about this kind of thing. It does go on in the world. Some people do use and abuse the things of God. They will be judged!! I have never heard this about Hillsongs.. But it will not stop me from listening to them. The praise & worship songs have helped to bring me through so much in life.. First off, the Bible specifically says that homosexuals will have their part in the lake of fire, only if they don't turn away from their sin and turn to Jesus. Secondly, women are not second-class citizens. Jesus broke the gender and race barrier in John 4:7-42. Third, the Bible clearly says that sex is only honorable in marriage, however, Christians do not have the right to murder anyone, especially for sin, because we have sinned ourselves, we are no different than anyone.

My youth pastor illustrated it this way to my youth group. If we have sin in our lives, that we know about and are unwilling to let go of (you being jealous of people that are already in bands and harboring unforgiveness against them), then our prayers really seem to not be answered. If you tape two plastic pop bottles together so that the opening of each is taped together, then cut out the top half of the one that is on top.

Stuff that with lots of tissue (and this represents all of the sin in your life that you refuse to let go of). Then, take some type of liquid which has clear coloring in it (my youth pastor used blue dye for water) (and this represents God answering our prayers). What happens is that because of our sins, that end up soaking up the answered prayers, by the time something starts to penetrate through into the bottle (or into our lives) it's a few drops.

Those few drops represent the answered prayers that have been allowed to enter our lives, but because God isn't answering our prayers, but because our own sin is literally blocking them from entering into our lives. You need to ask to show how to forgive people that are already in bands, and to ask Him to forgive you for being so unforgiving. God is faithful to His word. 1 John 1:9 says that "God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

I enjoy their music and I won't deny their talent and gifting. But like you, I question the motives of these mega churches whose staff seem to bask in their own success with many luxuries. It's not right. We should embrace God's gifting but such gifts are meant to glorify Christ and not oneself. I hope that the ones who do this will soon realize it. You just need to look around and see the wars, famine and the needs of the people around the world to know that we need to be doing more to help.

What makes people not come back is not a voice cracking mid song, its the atmosphere of the church, the over all impression. Did i feel welcome? Did they notice me? Did they include me or did they exclude me from thier "group"? Where the toilets clean or dirty? What makes or breaks the day for a guest is the culture and atmosphere...

Salvation is the work of God and not man. I walked into a church and the music was this: all hymns. One piano. Who sang it? The congregation. No worship band. No overwhelming talent. Just words that, if read, are humble and reverent to God.
There, the gospel was preached, sin convicted, Christ exalted. That is what we are commanded to give. That is the means God will save: not through entertainment but the conviction of sin and the exaltation of Christ, our Lord!

Those whom God has mercy on are the ones He saves -- for salvation is an act of His mercy. If you read Romans 9 is about why salvation is not for every Jew but for the "children of the promise" -- who are amongst Jew and Gentile both.
Do you really believe that a man who has encountered God and received the Holy Spirit, will be lukewarm? Matthew says "you will know them by their fruit"; Revelation is clear that the Lukewarm will be spewed out.

Remember the context is that there is no distinction between Jew and Greek -- both are one in Christ. That's the purpose of the statement.
But it does not say "all men everywhere will believe" or "all men everywhere can believe" -- it says IF you believe, you will be SAVED. Christ's blood made effectual atonement for all who would believe, according to those whom He foreknew and predestined to be His: His sheep.

awesome song - a bit of a weak mix for Hillsongs, but it still sounds OK. I like how at 1:43 Joel steps on the mic stand or something :)
