I don't know where you get the idea that an interest in hunting or past as chearleader renders one "unfit to lead." Sorta thought that Wes Clark's point was that these things do not IN THEMSELVES qualify you for President. The hunting, the PTA, these things ARE being put forth by the right as qualifications and I agree that it's absurd.
He is listing off reasons that Palin is not qualified to be president and he lists "moose hunter" the point is that such a thing does not matter one way or the other. it shouldnt even be mentioned! Same with the chearleader thing, its listed as a negative aspect when its not really any issue at all!

I agree. It is very outrageous. For example, McCain said that he did not know anyone who knew more about energy than Palin does. That is simply absurd, but what is really incredible, is to believe that he can get away with such statement! Any reporter should have asked on the spot, "Reaaally? Do you believe this Senator? Can you explain why? given the number experienced experts in both parties?" I ll ask rhetorically, is it ok for the press to allow McCain or anyone else to treat us like idiots?

I would challenge you to listen to any one of the Right-talkers for 15 minutes, mark each of the charges you describe and let us know. The result will be zero. Try Michael Medved, my favorite.

She was excellent, and was popular enough to become mayor in her first exec job She was in numerous small businesses before that. Being against evolution is an automatic disqualifier for me UNLESS you can somehow prove with objective scientific evidence that all the good scientific evidence in support of the theory is false. Right now, the folks that argue against evolution do so with crap.

This is politics, nobody gives two custard filled pastries about character in every other character. Stephen Harper tried to do that in an ad, only once and it barely did a dent in the polls. Have you ever noticed that knowledge is 100x more important than character. If you judge someone based on character, vote communist they are presented with character. Just in politics does it mean nothing, so don't think politics is about character, it isn't. Just take any political science class and you will know that.

I'm talking about the GOP supporters that complain that people are on welfare to support children they KNEW they couldn't afford to feed. I made no generalization: I based my comment on remarks made by GOP politicians at the RNC; no Republican has disagreed with those assertions to date. A Republican calling someone ignorant is just beyond the pale; I guess voting for people that 'you can have a beer with' shows the ability to make cognitive and reasonable decisions based on important issues.

The history of her public life is well reported in Alaskan newspapers, also the web has volumes on her--the problem is that haters on blogs such as Huffington and Kos have exploded lately as well. If you want truth about anyone, I suggest you not go to their enemy for it. Consider this: While ethics chief in AK, the guys she indicted and convicted were nearly all Republicans. That is huge to me--it indicates integrity to take down criminals no matter which party they are from, even her own.

Palin asked a "what if" ? to the librarian regarding book banning. So what if she didn't technically ban any books...yet. Just the fact that she looked into it is troubling. And she HAS made statements saying that she thinks creationism should be taught in schools and that we should let kids decide. WTF? No, how about we let THE FACTS and the scientific method decide what's taught instead? Finally, Obama has been attacked for weak connections constantly. Only fair to look into Alaska Ind. Party.

And why shouldn't celebrities be able to say anything? They get to vote also. Hell, in the case of many of them, they do a lot more to help people than many people in congress will ever do. Just look at all the work Clooney does through charities. But I guess I shouldn't expect Republicans to respect people who help the less fortunate. Just look at their views on community organizers.

You forget how Reagan was the guy who turned in a bunch of his fellow actors to McCarthy for being "suspected communists". The guy used to "tell us stories" all the time. Once he described his heroism in WWII and someone in the press had to remind him "that was a MOVIE".

What more can he do. He's appeared on two religious forums on CNN and spoken about his Christianity at least as comfortably (more so IMHO) as HRC and McCain. He's written a book in which he mentions how he became a christian. He's been asked the question in dozens of interviews and has consistently answered by saying he's never been a muslim. And to top it all off, EVERYBODY in the country knows the name of his former PASTOR, Rev. Wright.

Sorta thought that Wes Clark's point was that these things do not IN THEMSELVES qualify you for President. The hunting, the PTA, these things ARE being put forth by the right as qualifications and I agree that it's absurd.

I agree. It is very outrageous. For example, McCain said that he did not know anyone who knew more about energy than Palin does. That is simply absurd, but what is really incredible, is to believe that he can get away with such statement! Any reporter should have asked on the spot, "Reaaally? Do you believe this Senator? Can you explain why? given the number experienced experts in both parties?" I ll ask rhetorically, is it ok for the press to allow McCain or anyone else to treat us like idiots?
