@commanderjdt i can think of three other teams that took the bribe. One was the 500K question on which artists appeared the most times on rolling stone. One was the 200K question on which actors had won Best Actor, and the other 200K question I don't remember but I remember the captain of that team rejecting his teammates answers at 50, 75, and 100K. In all four situations including this one, the captain made the right decision because the last answer was wrong. My questions was did any (cont.)
i knew the hockey answer was right, and thriller was wrong. i had a feeling gellar was right as well and so was post it. smart move taking the car! :)
Just like someone else said, the Mac famous 1984 ad, I personally knew Thriller was very late 82', Gellar was definately older than 18 at the time. Post-It's was tough, along with Vanna. I would've had no clue on when the artificial heart was given to Barney Clark. I am a hockey nut so I knew the miracle of 1980. I've heard of Studio 54 but unaware of when it opened. Completely honest lol.
@rodeorock39 I was thinking the same exact thing. I was actually unsure about MTV but he said the exact date (1982), so I am not sure what went wrong there. Of course, its different when 1.6 million is on the line and those flashing lights are in your face with a studio audience staring at you.
Yeah, that would make sense, to make it more exciting, but the producers of the show always seemed to follow that pattern.
Plus, if the captain was absolutely sure of the other 3 answers, that wouldn't make it that suspenseful.
The ones that are more exciting are the ones from surveys, but you really cannot be exactly sure how people polled, whereas the factual ones, I think, are much easier because you either know it or you don't, but you can sometimes use logic to figure out the answer.
If you look at it, it is sooo obvious they were going to lose, because they ALWAYS put the one that you are debating between last if you are not sure, even if they are all right.
So when it went for Sarah 3rd, you KNEW the Mac was wrong.
I would never want to quit no matter how uncertain I was, but there was absolutely ZERO chance that they could be right there.
"superchampion88": I think they knew that Mac was wrong, that's why they bailed out.
.
Although I have to disagree with your first statement on one occasion: Phyllis, David and Lauren's $2,000,000 question. In that instance, the last answer revealed was the first one they gave.
@ngarcia103 Yeah, but in that question, they gave all the answers with little hesitation.
It is when you agonize over making 1 choice or 1 change that you know they are going to save for the last answer revelation, unless something else is wrong.
i already know that they wouldn't have won had they went for it, but if john HAD changed the right one, and either one of them decided to go, do you happen to know whether that person would they have won the full $2 million?, or would they just have won the share they were entitled to?
@Wheeloffortunefan999 Only player to make a different decision from the rest of his team in an independent decision situation was Dan Avila. Because Curtis and Melissa bailed out, Dan played for $2.2 million alone. Had they continued with him, his cut would have only been $440K, so it was definitely to his benefit that his teammates quit given his relative confidence level.
Fnally, Chuck mentions Vanna!

@commanderjdt (cont.) team ever have all four correct answers but take the bribe anyway, that being the wrong decision.

Also, Lisa should have indicated how sure she was about "Post It notes", since that might have allowed him to change the right one.
Since John seemed like one of the only players that would have been both willing to go for the $4,000,000 and capable of answering correctly.

Barney Clark got his heart in 1982.
Vanna turned her first letter the same year.
The Mac was first sold two years later

@Wheeloffortunefan999 oh and by the way, i mean if one, and ONLY one of them.
Wheeloffortunefan999 1 year ago
@Wheeloffortunefan999 Lemme answer the question like this:
If one person had gone for it, that person would've won the full $2,000,000.
Or if both had gone for it, they each would've won $1,000,000.
viddykiddy18 1 year ago
@viddykiddy18
Actuall John would have made $1.6 million, Lisa $400,000 if they did not pick the car.

wait, is this assuming that BOTH of them had went for it? (i'm asking what woulda happened if ONLY ONE of them had went for it.)

@Wheeloffortunefan999
If only one went for it, they'd go for the whole pot. on their own. What I said assumed both went for it.
