if Gervais thinks only conceptually and not "verbally", then he is an animal. It is only through words that we can think rationally and logically. So it can be oral words, or their representation (signs, letters, etc.) - but it's usually the intellectualization of spoken language. Voilà, c'est tout.

@SolDeSaBelle I think the point Gervais is trying to make is that the brain has no voice. The words simply appear in his head as ideas without having to be spoken internally. When I think about things, I don't hear my own voice in my head, the thoughts simply being there. One thing they're pestering Karl about is that it's almost as if he has an internal monologue, reciting full sentences worth of thought. I don't know, that's just what I picked up, I may be wrong.

@TooneyD yeah, that makes more sense. Gervais is sometimes so on about bashing Karl that he is a little sloppy on science explanations, but he is usually right about what he says. Not always though, I think I heard him say that chimps don't have opposable thumbs, once. Oh well.
