  • instantly recognisable as Follin ie awesome

  • Why would something like PICTIONARY have such complex and amazing music...?

  • A JACKAL! JACKAL! IT'S A JACKAL! IT LOOKS LIKE A JACKAL! JACKAL? JACKAL! IT'S A JACKAL! JACKAL?

  • Just for pictionary? He really wanted it to succeed.

  • Holy shit if only this was in a game I would actually fucking play. Wasted talent!

  • Lets start an 8-bit revolution if we survive 2012 !!!

  • jesus for pictionary? It's like hearing slipknot in a growing pains intro

  • Thank you reddit.... And holy shit balls I never would have expected this from a game like.... well fucking pictionary!

  • Sent here from Reddit. Just loaded the game on my emulator that allows separating the sound channels. Triangle is being used for bass, Noise for drums, Pulse 1 for melody, with Pulse 2 supporting the melody for chord effects. Sounds amazing, but pretty standard for most NES games that had amazing theme music. Keep in mind though that in-game music wouldn't be able to be this good, as there would be no more channels left for game sounds. Some games cheated by pausing a channel for a sound to play

  • holy damn this shit is bangin

  • Anyone who thinks this song is absolutely badass must view watch?v=S1k-VuZQItI

  • WTF, this song is way to badass for pictionary

  • fake the real one doesnt sound like robots

  • @homm87 ಠ_ಠ

  • Mother of god. Who knew fucking PICTIONARY would have a kick ass theme?

  • This just has to be the best Title Theme ever, Tim Follin is a master, a god of the NES sound-chip. I love this theme to death, 8-bit sex to my ears. Certainly the whole soundtrack to this game is awesome, which makes me love this game more, I think this game is fun, and more enjoyable because of the music.

Basically thanks a lot Bucky for uploading this, and in this awesome sound quality, you're the man! ;D

  • I'M GONNA PICTIONARY THE SHIT OUT OF YOU.

  • I actually based one of my own FamiTracker compositions loosely on this theme, it's just fantastic.

  • I want this game.

  • Why is it that a good composer like Tim Follin always did the music for mediocre to crap games? It just doesn't seem right, really

  • Pictionary has never been this epic.

  • The most epic NES song ever!

  • Who would have thought that one of the most bad-ass Nintendo themes would be from Pictionary.

  • I swear to god, everything made by Tim Follin sounds like it's too complicated for the NES, as though there's way more instruments than normal. This man was a god and fuck why doesn't he make soundtracks any more.

  • @Venorize no

  • @Venorize

    Lol you just got told

  • I'm not sure what's the weirdest:

    1. There's a soundtrack in a game based on Pictionary

    2. Someone actually collected the music in the game

    3. People have covered tracks from this game

    4. The music is actually awesome

  • @Gamepopper101 2 and 3 happened because of 4

  • sounds familiar

  • How could something like this exist on the NES, for Pictionary?

  • i dont get this the music is epic but it is made by LJN

  • @neon39367 No, the game was published by LJN. Software Creations developed it.

  • why has no one made a midi of this yet.

  • @PurpleKirby54 Because we don't need Midi Replacements.

  • @MrRandomTux let me correct myself

Why has no one made a midi for this in secret and not give out to everyone who asks

  • @PurpleKirby54 I dunno. But what I meant was that If a midi was made making YTPMVs of this would be easy. And they'd be sloppy too.

  • @MrRandomTux true... but i don't use midis for ytp making purposes. I use them as a reference every now and again for mario paint composer. I'm trying out this song by ear, but it's almost impossible considering how fast it goes.

And also yeah, i know you're not gonna make one, nor am i. :1

  • @PurpleKirby54

Look up 'nsfplay' or 'nsfplug' from pokipoki (dot org). It allows you the slow the music down, mute channels, and it even comes with a keyboard display so you can view all the notes as they playback in real time. It's the best way to learn NES music as accurately as possible.

  • @explod2A03 :3 thank you

  • why is this song on some drawing while it should be on some mortal kombat shit.

  • AwEsOmE

  • FUCK YEAH GENTLE GIANT/GRYPHON/KING CRIMSON INFLUENCES

  • Is it me or is this song OVERLY EPIC for a Title Screen? This is just fucking ridiculous...

  • holy shit pictionary is bad ass

  • this is the only LJN game i like..and love XD

  • Tim follin makes music for the oddest video games....... damn good music.

  • Back then they made REAL MUSIC even to a such idiotic video game as this.

  • ITS LIKE A KOALA BEAR SHIT A RAINBOW IN MY BRAIN

  • stay classy

  • i never thought this would be such a AWESOME song!

  • he never ever used any sample on this trust me !!! i have listen carefully the track of "silver surfer" and "Solstice" and mute all the track with an emulator and Tim have just combine some pink noise with a glide of a low bass square wave form of the Nes chip.

  • holy shit

  • 8-bit E L E C T R O deluxe !

  • @SeniorMojo Electro?

    Man you are so off

  • of all nes games, I had such a blast with this one ^_^

  • @explod2A03

I suppose it could be the fact that YT can be buggy at times.

Or, Tim Follin made it sound like that.

    Still, it's brilliant!!

  • 2 things..

    1. Is this the original?

    2. I heard a jump at 0:11 btw.

  • @aidanrayner999

Yup, this is the original, sampled from console. The bass is a bit heavy... this is the one soundtrack where I experimented and boosted the low end a tad on the mixer. Now it sounds like a bit much to me, so I don't do that anymore. Other than some slightly misleading touches from the mixer, the sound should be completely authentic. :)

I didn't hear the jump at 0:11. Sometimes YT glitches out a bit, let me know if you still hear it.

  • We have found the evolutionary link to 8 and 16-bit music here.

  • this is one of the fucking best 8 bit songs iv'e heard. heck, it's one of the best songs iv'e ever heard in any genere

  • Tim Follin = Legend

  • Damn...

  • Thank you so much for this! Been waiting for this soundtrack to be available for a long time. Keep up the good work :)

  • Thanks for the information porcodio.

  • this track is magic. so progrock. timmy is king

  • Wow Tim Follin Really knew how crack the sound on that chip up to eleven.

Did he used DPCM channel for those drums?

  • What porcodio said. :) It's the noise combined with a 'speed pitch' effect on the triangle channel. The triangle makes it extra beefy.

  • @arciks11 Also, Tim Follin says he doesn't believe in DPCM samples.
