This is just the tutorial of the game people, very basic.

They apparently have a story mode, which is just getting from the start to finish. No bosses. It's a puzzle-like game, so if it's not your type it'll seem boring to you.

I wish I had the beta, I didn't hear about it. :(

There is a story-mode in the game, although I'm not sure what it is, but the games main attraction is that you can make a level and put it online for other people to play. You design it how you want and add whatever you want. Try to find the littlebigplanet video from when they first announced it, it explains it alot better.
