I want to give this cat a hug. He looks like SUCH a sweetheart. And that MOTOR... :D If I had furbabies and lived nearby, I'd definitely be a regular. I don't know about the lion cut, though. Hopefully, I'd be able to keep the mats under control before it got to that point. Don't get me wrong, he was cute afterward. I just prefer the puffball.
I know what you mean. He was a rescue and was very matted. He recently went on his journey to kitty heaven and he is so missed by us. He was one cool cat!
He had a good life with his adopted parents and knew he was loved.

Dear Faded Rose.....A male that is not neutered will always be a problem. Cats have an incedibly high sex drive and when left whole are very territorial. I have no magic answers other than to get your cat neutered.
Hi Rochelle.....it takes special handling skills to shave down a cat. This is a profession that requires training, equipment and skill. I would not advise you to try this at home.
what tips do you have about me shaving my cat at home? I shave my dog myself but my cat is very stubborn and will bit and scratch to get away. i know because i have tried. She is a Maine Coon and i try to keep her coat well maintained but when it gets humid out, her coat mats badly.. HELP!

Where I live money is really short so they don't offer programs to help pay for that kind of stuff. He keeps yowling in the middle of the night and I am, quite literally, on the brink of insanity. Any ideas?
I can see why a person not familiar with grooming might feel this way, but this cat was more matted than what could be humanely removed with a comb. Mats cause a lot of discomfort to a cat and can cause hot spots. If you would like furthur information we would be happy to answer any questions you may have about grooming.
My cat would slice her up into bite sized chunks in 10 seconds approx.

No, essential oils are highly toxic for cats, even at times in a diffuser. But they can be used on dogs in limited quantities.

Ya like my moms cat momma kitty had to get shaved for that reason since her fur tangled and matted even if she brushed her.
