  • Not a tutorial at all. More a demonstration for people who already know how to do this. No audio, therefore a complete mystery what the hell is going on here. Suggest you look up "Tutorial" in a dictionary. Meteoric fail.

  • awesome!! was looking EVERYWHERE to find something useful like that :D thanks so much for uploading

  • lol i used a selective blur of like 20. and she used 3

  • why doesnt this video work?

  • ps -> thanks for this! =]

  • for those who can't figure it out, here are the instructions:

    1. toggle quick mask on (via box in lower left, or select > toggle quick mask)

    2. brush colours black/white

    3. eraser tool, erase areas with skin (areas to be airbrushed)

    4. paint with black to put the mask back on areas if you mess up

    5. zoom out, toggle mask off, will convert to selection of areas not masked

    6. filters > blur > selective gaussian blur

    7. they used blur radius of 3, max delta of 30

    8. hit ok, deselect, you're done.

  • @izzi113 THANK YOU!

  • needs audio

  • Helped a lotta :D

  • Very useful. I often get lost in the menu structure of GIMP, even after many years of using it. Looking at your videos is quicker than reading the Help. :-)

  • Nice job!

  • 3:55 = a clown

  • @puden007 hahahaaha!!

  • How is it a short lesson with no audio?

  • no audio for me either.

  • me eitherrrrr

  • what's the point of the flash without audio? The flash movie is too small and blurry to figure out what you're doing without audio.

  • I've had gimp for a few years...

I had no idea about Quick Mask!

    Thanks!

  • can you explain this to me please

    xD

what did you use to go over the face and arms?

  • That is using Quick Mask: toggle it and then use the eraser tool to mark the area which will be later turned into selection.

  • how do you make your own airbrush

  • where the fuck is the quick mask?

  • The icon is at the bottom-left of the image window. Or in the menu, Select -> Toggle Quick Mask.

  • daune

  • really really REALLY good video.

  • lol

  • mine didn't change at all... and I did exactly what you did

  • What version are you using?

  • That is Gimp 2.4, hte current version

  • I've question does gimp have alpha channel for selection, it's hard work for selection good work :-)

  • lecheel, yea yes it does

  • help me PLS...well first of all very nice work, secondly if ive selected all the area with the red tool thingy how can i select it?

    Thnx in advance upi73

  • Set black as the paint color and white as the background color, then turn on the quick mask (the red tool thingy).

Use the eraser tool to remove parts of the red (those will turn into selection) and a paint brush to add red areas (those will be removed from selection).

Toggle the quick mask and the erased areas will transform in a selection won qich you can apply the Selective Gaussian Blur filter.

  • Then add music...

  • thank you that was a good vid.

  • It would be more helpful if you actually talked your way through this

  • you are right, but my spoken English is quite bad...

  • u can just do it slowly and redo the voice till ur comfortable with it

  • wow thanks!

  • Nice job!
