When I first heard this, (I was about 5 years old at the time) I didn't understand the humor. I knew a war was raging in the rest of the world from the newspapers and magazines, and occasional visits from my uncle who was in the Navy. The real horror of the war (holocaust) were just rumors and the US Ultrapariotism was in effect.

More like brilliantly executed propaganda from true patriots mocking the (so far) most evil man in recent history. Cheap, silly or typical it is not. This kind of "silliness"- was rendered with great skill- and helped win the war- otherwise, you'd be goose stepping instead of enjoying alpaca tortas.
