My dad had s jones gr. hits when i was a child (69)- i larfed and larfed- and when i finally learned its significance, i larfed harder! simply brilliant and appropriately disrespectful propaganda. does the "super-duper supermen" part sound a little, well, fruity? perfectly antagonistic and uplifting for the allies.
When I first heard this, (I was about 5 years old at the time) I didn't understand the humor. I knew a war was raging in the rest of the world from the newspapers and magazines, and occasional visits from my uncle who was in the Navy. The real horror of the war (holocaust) were just rumors and the US Ultrapariotism was in effect.
More like brilliantly executed propaganda from true patriots mocking the (so far) most evil man in recent history. Cheap, silly or typical it is not. This kind of "silliness"- was rendered with great skill- and helped win the war- otherwise, you'd be goose stepping instead of enjoying alpaca tortas. Please explain your opinion- language barrier or what?
when der furer sayys i gotta have more shell we heil heil right in the fuckers face if one little shelñl should blow him roght to shit we heil heil right in dre fuckers face
The German were still thought of as third world, sauerkraut-eating peons not even worth considering a major world power. Spike Jones picked up on this paradox and set it to music, quite effectively.
Well, we joked about getting Bin Laden and the Taliban in the days following 9/11, until we learned the real horror of the situation.
